    A great step I add is to use parchment or wax paper between the wall and formica after the contact cement has been applied and dried. Wax/Parchment paper will not adhere to contact cement. In this situation I would have used parchment paper and adhered it to the wall in strips. (Tape the parchment paper to the wall where the formica is not going to be applied) When you are ready to connect the formica to the wall you pull one strip of the wax paper out from behind the formica and then roll the it firmly in place. Once you are satisfied move on to the next piece of parchment paper, and repeat the process until it is completely adhered. I have used this process on counter tops etc and makes it incredibly easy to install and no stress. Hope this made sense and helps. Great Vid!

    Thank you for making the video. It is very helpful. I am working on a bathroom project that I will be installing the Formica sheet on the walls, but I don’t know how to deal with the uneven wall surface. I do not want to see the Formica looks wavy after the installation. Do you have any recommendations or tips for that? Thank you.

  • @pistolade9956
    @pistolade9956 3 года назад +4

    just a thought but it is recommended to use the curved surface for most routers rather than the flat face as with the flat face any sort of accidental twisting of the router will curve your cut line where as the rounded surface is a consistent distance from the bit

    • @BenG78
      @BenG78 2 года назад +1

      I read your comment and I understand and get your point on same distance all around.
      I'm not a router guy and that makes me wonder what is the flat edge for?

    • @pistolade9956
      @pistolade9956 2 года назад +1

      @@BenG78 usually you'd put like an edge follow jig on that side. It's flat to let you get that little bit closer to the edge. That's the only thing I've really seen but I'm not so sure honestly

    Thanks for this INFORMATIVE video. It's perfect TIMING. I held back on cutting laminate/formica for sometime for the lack of HOW the Bestway to Cut it straight till I saw your video its time to get busy. Oh do you have any suggestions on cutting a rounded corners to fit around those chrome shelves' legs? Need to make it fit as close as I can to them so heavy items don't fall through or the formica doesn't brake off at the corners.

    Hi there nice video I am about to make a formica desk with birch ply can I ask you something please? How long do you have to wait until you route the edges? Also is the whole process quite easy- what worries me is , is air bubbles .(I know its not what you just did but I figured you may know the answer) thanks in advance sir

    • @BYOTools
      @BYOTools  3 года назад +3

      Hi Christopher. Thanks for watching and glad you are taking on your own project. I’m assuming you are asking how long you have to wait for the spray adhesive to dry. If so, you can router it within a couple of min after you have it set in place. The process is easy but just make sure you set one edge in place first and then gradually move your way down. Don’t try to set it all at once. Hope that makes sense and good luck.

      You obviously don't know your spray adhesives OP. This 3M 90 is seriously strong and you'll be cracking the panel off in pieces if you ever tried to take it off. As for the mask thanks for looking out and I'm normally good about wearing masks but I'm not worried about this stuff. Probably as bad as breathing in hair spray once or twice. But YES its always important to protect your lungs. Thanks for watching.
