Eerie sounding dust devil at 12,400ft on Jones Pass

I heard this coming for about a minute before I could see anything. It was nearly dead quiet where I was, but I heard this eerie whooshing and paper tearing sound from up the ridge. Eventually started recording video, but still couldn't see anything for about 10 more seconds (I think it was crossing over grass and/or bare rocks), then finally saw this tight little devil work down the slope, across the road. It actually continued on for a bit past the truck at the end for another 20 seconds or so without lifting any dust and then petered out.
Just prior to this I had been flying my sailplane on the west side of the ridge, and immediately after this, the wind switched to coming from the east side, and continued on the rest of the afternoon.

Dust devils go up. Tornadoes go down. Tornadoes are formed in bad weather. Dust devils on hot sunny days.

Youe presence made that possible through pressure variation. The truck was the heaviest so it went under there ect...

I was starting to have the same thought. When I started rushing to secure the planes, it had left the road and was moving *straight* toward me. I've been inside a dust devil before, so wasn't worried, other than it likely trying to suck every loose thing out of my truck.

5pm. Wind had been blowing from the west all day, and quit a few minutes before this. Then this happened, and afterward the wind started up from the east. Guessing it was due to converging air masses between a thermal formed on the warm west side drifting to the top, and the the start of the east wind.

Going west on I-70 from Denver, Highway 40 exit to Empire, and just before first big switchback, get off and keep going due west toward Henderson Mine, then right onto dirt road just before the Mine, which continues west all the way up to the top of the divide at Jones Pass. Road ends at the bottom of the pass at a Denver Water Facility.
