      The systems detected the issue and took the rocket offshore, which probably part of the reason it didn't explode. It's still pretty amazing that they designed the rocket to have this nice safety feature.

    atleast we will learn from its failure, and make sure it never happens again.

  • @biosdilt1399
    @biosdilt1399 6 лет назад

    For the explanation, something which helps controlling the booster failed, and that's why it looks like it's in a complete freefall, when it's supposed to control it's trajectory way better than that. Here it was spinning pretty fast, which makes it even harder.
    As a backup, they tried to land it in the water, which surprisingly succeeded, and then it just fell oven in the water.
    The booster might be reused only for internal SpaceX mission, as salt water is usually not a good thing for rocket components.

    • @andrewevanoff1192
      @andrewevanoff1192 6 лет назад +1

      I believe one of the hydraulic fin actuator drives has failed. I think the landing was a success though. They unwillingly had a chance to test the emergency landing routine in the water. The system was able to quickly recognize the problem and adjust it's guidance control parameters to safely land the first stage in the water.

      It did what it was designed to do. The trajectory is designed such that if something goes wrong, it will ditch in the water, not on land.
      Even if it had gone off-target on land, you can see that the automatic braking and soft landing protocol worked perfectly to bring it in gently
