Those old alloy Snapper decks gave some of the best grass uplift of any mower out there. Would love to have one again!

The starter was not electric. It had a vertical pull start. Great mowers.

I have a 21 inch cut Snapper with the red metal deck and the white handlebar. My 3.5HP Briggs & Stratton engine has a black engine instead of the white engine which means that the original engine was probably replaced several years ago.
I’m in the process of replacing the gas tank/carburetor which was completely rotted with pinholes. Luckily I found a used tank/carburetor from eBay that was in very nice condition.
When everything is right with the engine,,It will usually start with 1 to 2 pulls every time. You have to be very careful mowing in areas with gravel because of the high vacuum action of the mower deck. My ID decal is completely faded away,,So I am not exactly sure how old the Snapper really is.
Surprisingly enough,Parts for the Snapper push mowers are still available and not very expensive compared to some other brands out there.

This deck has a vacuum and can practically mow at at idle. I bought mine used from a golf course and it lasted many years. I would buy a new one just like it!

I forgot, the wheels had ball bearings making it easy to push even in heavy grass.
