John, I discovered your channel about 5 years ago at a time when I was kind of directionless and depressed, but I've never stopped by to comment until now. I got so into it I binged your videos for hours at a time. Your expression of sheer joy for the hobby has this awesome mysterious way of inspiring people like me who might need a little boost. As a music guy myself, this video really reminded me of what's so great about the ability and privilege to be creative in our hobbies/professions. I loved seeing your miniature work, drawings, and how exciting it is to get a custom music remix from an old favorite game. I love how you inject humanity into your stories. You're bringing the "kid" out from inside of me again in the best way possible. Thanks man!
Even if all the episodes were really inconsistently posted, I would absolutely be down to watch “The Happy Anime Watcher” with you going even more in depth with your anime stories and reviews. It’s always something I look forward to in your video game pick up videos
This is all so great, Johnny! I come here for you, my friend, no matter if it’s 100% video game-related or more tangential to that. Thanks for sharing with us, you’re an inspiration!
I always love these episodes! It is fun to see your other interests and hobbies. I think I could honestly listen to you talk bout anything, and still enjoy it. You put so much genuine passion into your work. It’s always a joy to see.
Thanks for sharing Johnny, i always appreciate your passion. Been watching your videos since 2012 and it's always a blast, that helps me go through the hardest times..
What I find amazing about your art is how it is evocative of the late 80s and early 90s, but without coming out like you are trying. It looks so authentic because it is your aesthetic, not something you're trying to replicate. It looks like something Sega themselves would put out back then, nintendo art included (your fire emblem art looks like shining force).
Dude, I'm so fucking glad you're doing art again. I was genuinely bummed out when you first showed off your old work and mentioned you don't do it anymore. As someone struggling with motivation for his creative passions, it's always hard seeing others drop theirs, especially at such an accomplished level.
Thanks for showing some of your art work, it's always nice to see someone putting themselves out there. Art can be really personal, so it's daunting to think about other people judging it; it can feel like they are judging you by extension. It takes courage, and that's inspiring.
A mate of mine used to paint up these figures through the 80's when they were made of lead. I've always admired the detail and paint jobs on these things, really nice Johnny.
honestly i have to say thank you. if i had not watched your videos talking about your d&d games i wouldnt have started playing and being a dm myself. i have totally fallen in love with the game
Dude this is so rad. I too, am an avid miniature painter. I've been working on the Crimson Court for Underworlds, and a bunch of Death Guard for 40k. Waiting on the Soulblight release for Age of Sigmar. Miniature painting is such a zen hobby. Glad to see you enjoy it!
Really great artwork, bro. I really love your use of colours. The tones on the metalic characters are especially nice. I'm really glad you're back to artwork. I remember some years ago you mentioned you quit doing art and I thought it was nuts that you'd stopped. You're very talented.
Your secret is being a collector ;) Edit: I would totally enjoy that Metroid drawing! Was interested in it when you showed it the first time and I would love to get it from you since you're my favourite RUclipsr still and I respect you a lot.
Johnny, this is basically what I did having down time w/ my 2 year old daughter, except I dug into Film making mixed w/ retro games. Self-fulfillment and turned it into a YT channel. You must draw once a day and you'll see how fast you progress, great work! Thanks for sharing!
I loved your video especially that you have energy to do something of your own, seeing someone's création is always a big thumb up for me. Thanks for the link and the music :)
Johnny, your art is genuinely good. The Metroid piece especially evokes a nostalgic sort of quality - it looks like it'd fit right in with early Nintendo concept art. You should put out a comic, my guy.
Johnny! This makes me want to pick up some pencils and felts and start drawing right away. Really beatiful coloring, I get all gushy like a kid just looking at it!
I really love your artwork! Such nice colors and style. I painted some warhammer models many years ago, but I didn't really have the patience for it. I am very impressed by people that can really paint those miniatures in crazy detail.
Heck yeah, I wonder how that Robo will turn out! Also your little mini toy camera hobby reminds me of Fantasian! And Luke Jansen is great, I listened to his PSII compilation mix last year when this other channel did a retrospective on it! Great stuff!
Your art is incredible John. Honestly, I'd buy some prints if you ever did some. Great to see how creative you are outside of RUclips. As a creative myself I share your love of different passions.
Wow, your artwork is fantastic. I have a graphic designer myself and have a BA in traditional animation. I love your use of color and brush techniques. BEAUTIFUL
Definitely keep it all together, here on one channel. There's no need to spread yourself thin, "like butter over too much bread," as Bilbo said. You'll find that people who like the video games you like, most likely also love comics, D&D, miniatures and 80's/90's anime. I know I do.
Absolutely beautiful art work my friend, I have always been an artist myself and stopped for years, now I have been back for over a year and love it. Never stop my friend. 💕✌🏼🎨
Love the Rolf at 8:08. Please draw more Phantasy Star XD I discovered Luke through that same Phantasy Star remix a year ago. Well done! Luke has also done a Phantasy Star II medley as well. He is running a kickstarter for Phantasy Star III that everyone needs to back !

Love the art, its inspired me after 20 years of being out of it, I went to College for Graphic Arts and well Life changed and you know the rest...LOL.. Keep it up Johnny.

OMG... Johnny's art is amazing!!!! :O
Thank you again for your kind shout out, and thanks again for commissioning me! 😁
Johnny, your style has such a strong 80s/90s anime vibe, love it!
Instantly got a nostalgia rush as a late 80s kid.
This is one of the most adorable wholesome video of this year.
Why do you not have at least a million subscribers is beyond me. Keep doing what you do and how you want to do it!
Wow watched Him for years and never realised he wasn't over a million!! Its probably because he doesnt make daily top 10 videos or push out crap 🙄

This was such an inspiring video to go back to some of my forgotten hobbies and give me that extra bit of energy to get through quarantine season 2
Your art is extremely good, It wouldn't be out of place as actual marketing material for a game. Keep doing what you love man!
Johnny shows us his art pieces.
Me: Shut up and take my money!

Absolutely love this episode. I’m glad you picked up art again. I always wanted to be an artist but I’m pretty terrible tbh. Thanks for sharing this.
Johnny, you are fantastic. My weekly 15 minutes of optimism and happiness.
Great work Johnny, love seeing that you are still working on your art. Also love how you retain the more 80's sensibilities in your renderings.

John, you bring a smile to my face consistently
The only thing I was always curious about is how can you store/have space for so many old things and never throw anything out.
I always wondered why he never moved!
He's rich, secretly has a game house.
His apartment must be like the Tardis.
Optimal storage (?)
I think he is planning to buy a house.
all of your secrets were really cool 😁 this was so fun to watch, thanks Johnny!
You are one of my favorite youtubers and one of the people that inspired me to do my own channel! Its cool to see ur also into table tops

Great video! Thanks for sharing Johnny!!!
My brother keeps having ideas for games, and I've told him several times he should write his ideas down into a table top game. These look fun!
Always love when a new episode pops up! Watching with my two year old!
Just listened to the Phantasy Star remix and you're right Johnny, that is absolutely beautiful!! I almost had tears in my eyes.

I wear glasses just for video games. Once HD TVs came out I got glasses. Now I realize I’m blind AF 😂
Life without glasses are like ps4 with RF signal
How old are you?
(Just curious).
