@Sanny D Yes, indeed. He was quite forceful putting that arrogant, young dumbass lawyer in his place. It just goes to show you to never underestimate an old man's wisdom.
Hell yeah, dude! Facts! I've only seen this movie once or twice ever since it came out, but his court scene and this one have stood out in my mind everytime I thought of this movie.
Yes Donald Sutherland is such an amazing and gifted actor only wish his role was bigger then the few scenes we got Whatever Donald's in is always phenomenal Such a big fan of actor Donald Sutherland
"if you ever pull that crap in my courtroom again, i will have hardened inmates using you as a dress up doll." if donald sutherland had said that to me, not only would i start immediatly looking for another job but id be to afraid to speak for a month....even then id raise my hand first...i wouldnt push the issue....
darthrevan4570 Right. My mom’s been a lawyer for 36 years and I’ve met all the judges she’s worked with retired and currently sitting on the bench. I’ve also sat in on depositions and meetings. They are the LAST people you want to talk back to and interrupt. If they tell you to shut up, you shut the fuck up!
@@anywaythewindblows8912 I'm sure that's especially true if they're the sterner, more no-nonsense types in the first place, much like the one in this movie appears to be.
Do you really think your little girl would want her man put away in a place like that. Very powerful - remember, your son in law is going through the most ultimate trauma any one person can experience?
Wow, a college paper? Great! But did you know that this movie was loosely based on my life? That the story was rearranged to keep my identity a secret. The part where Mr. Felone puts the pictures in front of his face. In a trial I was involved in between me and my family. The judge made a ruling that I could not introduce evidence that proved I was not mentally ill. And that in fact The WHO were singing the song "Athena" about my poster Athena. The judge put me in a catch-22 situation. While railroading me through the system. If only I had a Judge like Donald Sutherland on the bench. The last 17 years of my life would have been completely different. But as it is the prosecuting attorney allowed a juror and a witness to commit perjury in the courtroom. And perjury is a felony. That is why the prosecuting attorney's last name is Felone, in this movie.
@Max Frankow Considering the judge's dialogue, if I were that lawyer (and forced to choose, of course), I would MUCH rather get owned THAT way than the OTHER way if you catch my drift!
That's a bad ass judge
I love to argue, but if Donald Sutherland told me to shut up, I would.
It was especially rewarding to watch him put that scumbag in his place.
@@Lamporre I couldn't agree more. Served the jerk right.
Agree
Oh, I’d never speak again.
Even though Donald Sutherland is only in two scenes, he sure left an impression in this movie. I love him, but even in minor roles he's amazing

@@1987AnimeBoyThere’s really not much they can do. Just put them in their place like this one did.
That lawyer did something very insensitive. And to someone who lost his family in 9/11. Fire his ass
Nathan Corley right
The lawyer was just doing his job - doing best to win the case for his clients.

Such a good movie. I've written college papers on this movie, and it was for a theatre degree.

Everyone thinking this movie is great has sh^t taste in movies.
Donald Sutherland has a very powerful presence. A veteran actor. My hat is off to you sir.
The best movie Adam did. In my opinion his more epic only 2 movies ever made me cry. This was 1 of them
Such an awkward and overrated movie.

I haven't even seen the movie and I already hate the lawyer and the family. Just leave the poor man alone!
Within this film I cried before this scene. THAN it would be better.

This is ridiculous, Sandler needed to be institutionalized. This movie is ludicrous.
