It's very clever that he named the sensory organ that picked up the stimulus -- "noise." I live near some loading yards, close enough that the loading sounds travel here. Then the trucks boom and bang leaving the plant driveways to get onto the street that passes our home. I started identifying the different noises by source to explain it to my guys. They don't communicate with buttons [yet], but I can see them picking up on the differences as I name them. This video is confirmation to me that I'm not imagining things. Thank you, Roscoe, you sweet little squeaker! 😻😽🐾😸

Kitty yawns that wide, slightly stressed yawn after talking just like Talking Bunny dog does sometimes, but not all the time.

Maybe he means the loud noise is hurting his ear?

What a heartwarming video. It must be really helpful for him to be able to communicate about the fireworks noise

He actually did a lot better this year than previous years. He even looked out the window for a bit. I was surprised, he normally hides on the Fourth!

i think we all owe our pets an apology. they are way smarter than we gave them credit for.

It's possible the difference between "ear" and "hear" is too subtle to cat ears

I didn't think about that, but that absolutely makes sense! He doesn't have a "hear" button, only "noise" and "ear"... but I do say the word "hear" a lot so that could be why he thinks "noise" is the same thing. Very interesting!

He comes with his worries, and you give him the confidence it will not hurt him ;-) If he is is very courageous, you could watch the fireworks with him, as you are with him, he knows he is safe;-) And cats always have a taste for mayhem ;-)

We actually sat by the window for a bit to watch the fireworks. I'm amazed that he wasn't hiding the whole time like he has in previous years!

@@roscoesqueaks He could express his fears and knew you were taking them seriously and assured him all was O.K.
That must have made a big difference to him.
After all humans can do many things, cats can't, like make light when needed, clean the litterbox, open the fridge..many things opposable thumbs can do cats would like to do (except the litterbox thing) ;-)

Cats have very powerful hearing, so that they can hear the tiniest rustling of a mouse. It’s like the volume is turned up high. Our sounds are often painfully loud to them

How old is this cat? How long have you been teaching him words? I have 4 cats and this stuff fascinates me.

Tell me about it! I recently got new cameras because the audio was so terrible on my old ones. My recent videos have much better sound now 😊

I got new cameras, so it should be better now. The audio on my Wyze cams kept getting worse, basically unusable! 😩
