  • In this video we look at how easy it is to get a MongoDB server running locally on macOS. We step through installation, configuration and using basic CRUD operations to interact with the database.
Prisma now supports document databases with the new MongoDB connector. Check out the docs to get started: www.prisma.io/...

There is no need to make /Data/db directory?

    @ 2:18 - i am running an M1 + Big Sur v^11.5
    instead of `mongod --config /usr/local/etc/mongod.conf` i had to use `mongod --config /opt/homebrew/etc/mongod.conf`
easy problem to overlook in the post installation message after installing mongodb-community with brew

@@Firstname_ i went through it with this this week + basically it’s incompatible right now. you can maybe try the rosetta interpreter, but if you have another OS, i would init mongo on there and then just access it through your connection string in your server file. everything seems to work fine after i did that, even though i’m still doing the majority of development on my M1 macbook. you just have to view the db through the mongo site.
couchdb initialized extremely easily on my M1 macbook though, but it doesn’t suit my needs for the app i’m building.

@@muffinmuncher hi, i use m1 macbook too, but after brew install mongodb i got error like this
"Error: Cannot install under Rosetta 2 in ARM default prefix (/opt/homebrew)!
      To rerun under ARM use:
      arch -arm64 brew install ...
To install under x86_64, install Homebrew into /usr/local."

The legacy mongo shell is no longer included in server packages as of MongoDB 6.0. mongo has been superseded by the new MongoDB Shell ( mongosh ) .

If you need to have mongodb-community@4.4 first in your PATH, run in your terminal (mac)
      echo 'export PATH="/usr/local/opt/mongodb-community@4.4/bin:$PATH"' >> ~/.zshrc

Hey Yuvraj, thanks a lot for your comment! If you have trouble running some of the commands from this video, it's best to ask for help on GitHub so that our support team can help you: github.com/prisma/prisma/discussions
Ideally, you can provide a bit more information about your error (e.g. what commands you are running exactly, what your environment looks like and what the error message looks like).

Hi Raj, thank you for reaching out, however, the MongoDB Support team might help best in this case. We recommend checking this MongoDB document on the requirements for installation (on the left-hand side you can choose the version of MongoDB you're looking to install) -> docs.mongodb.com/manual/installation/
