    Thank you so much for this tutorial. Many teach how to make sugar flowers, but people don't teach how to arrange them on a cake. So this is a great help. Thank you.

    Hi love the tutorial. How do you stop the sugar paste from sticking to the roller please

      Hi Jennifer, I’m not sure I understand the question. Are you referring to the rolling pin? Or to a pasta machine for rolling out paste?

    Beautiful! I wonder if you might have some suggestions for me. I’m still rather new at designing cakes and I have a client who wants a 2 tier birthday cake, using fall colors, but her favorite color is purple. The top tier will be 6” and the bottom tier will be 8”. I’m unsure of which varieties of flowers (and colors) would work best together. Any tips you may have would be so appreciated. 😊

    Thank you for sharing this and your flowers are beautiful!
    I’m curious if you would actually insert four straw dowels for each point of entry for your flowers as well as the dowels already used to support the cake structure?
    I see people wrapping wires and just inserting them and wondered if that’s acceptable practice.

      Hi Lin, sorry for the delay in coming back to you on this. I would always dowel the cake as normal. Then for the wires from the flowers, I would recommend inserting them into either poly dowels, straws or posy picks and inserting those into the cake. I definitely don't recommend simply wrapping wires and inserting them into the cake as this is not considered food safe. I have more info in a blog post here which you might find helpful thebotanicalcakestudio.com/how-to-arrange-sugar-flowers-on-a-cake/

    What are your thoughts about using sugar flowers on buttercream cakes? Or do you always use fondant on your cakes? Thanks!

    • @TheBotanicalCakeStudio
      @TheBotanicalCakeStudio  2 года назад

      I use sugar flowers on buttercream cakes all of the time. You need to take care though. I always place them as last minute as possible (I.e. after transportation and set-up) Make sure the cake is not going to be placed back in the fridge at all. I also use arrangements that have a bit of space between the cake and the flower. Here is an example to show you what I mean instagram.com/p/CdIcnQNMmXj/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Try and avoid the flowers directly touching the buttercream in order to prevent them from softening.

    Hi there! If Im doing some flower branches but the idea would be to have them surround the Cake.. can the green Flower paper in contact with for example buttercream?
    Thanks you!

    • @TheBotanicalCakeStudio
      @TheBotanicalCakeStudio  2 года назад

      Hi Joana, how much would be in contact with the buttercream? I always recommend keeping any non-edible products with as little contact with the cake as possible. If it's a case of the taped wire being in contact for a short period of time with a crusted buttercream, I think it unlikely to cause any problems. I wouldn't ever insert a paper covered wire directly into buttercream though!
