Jay from the Repair Shop!! We love him!
Love the work from the lamp guy. I enjoy his conversions !!!!!
Love it but really should have used the red and green buttons as off/on switch.
I think the lathe should have been restored and given to a jobless person to get them started
AGREE, what a waste of good expensive machinery
Another great episode I'd not seen previously. Yippee!
Jay is an amazing human being. God bless you for giving back. Love all your video's, and the Repair shop. 💯%👍🤗
Loved the chair! The single hot pink leg and pom-pom made me smile and the contrasting floral fabric (especially under the seat) was stunning!
The only thing I would have preferred was a button instead of the pom-pom as I have cats!
I can't believe what people throw away!
If you don't have the space or knowledge to restore something, it's just clutter.
I love this show.
I think this Jay guy is the same guy from The Repair Shop show. He's seems to be a bit younger in this video.
Yes it is Jay Blades. But this episode came out April 6, 2017. While that was 7 years ago I really don't think he has aged that much.
Marvellous armchair, tabletop and lamp!
Yep same guy
The table was quite beautiful also
All good, but what happened to the other doors?
The same thought went through my mind
Xtra material...
Probably over time will be incorporated into other projects in the workshop. My guess.
The doors turned into a table. Minute 34.00
Cheers from your newest subscriber from California 😎
The chair was my favorite makeover of all
Yeah, I love that chair!
New sub from USA
I will watch Anything Jay🏠🤩
I love the chair and the table, but also the lamp. Congratulations
Daniel's front door looks the same as the bathroom door Jay brought him.
LOVE THE LAMP!!
Those doors were fine.
I had no problem with the chair back being a print, while the chair body was blue velvet, but the hot pink leg and pop pom? Yeah, no, not my vibe at all. I also would have picked more durable fabrics. That white back won't stay clean while the velvet will lose the nap with use. But kudos for saving a chair with some great lines!
If the lathe could be restpred to a safe original use it would have seemed it would have been more profit. The table graphics were phenomenal. The chair took some creative thought. As a non-creative human I would have had the old vinyl swapped out for slick leather, and refinished the legs natural wood.
Agreed, restoring the item to be a functional tool again seems to be the best option. The owner said it wasn't just a lathe, it was a multifunctional tool with a planer, drill press, etc. Unless it was damaged to the point it was unfunctional, but that didn't seem to be why he was throwing it out, it was just an item he didn't use and was gathering dust. But hey, parts of it avoided the landfill so that's a win.
What was done with the rest of the lathe? Was something else made from the leftovers?
In the US, i think they could’ve got a lot more than 30 pounds for the lathe at a salvage yard. The iron and copper would get a good dollar.
Where can I get jays hat?
That lathe could have been repaired and donated to a school.
The lamp, meh.
I can see if it goes in the right man cave setting. But, what a great idea for a show. First I’ve seen it. I wonder what item has brought the largest profit? Or smallest too.
Why would they bring they bother to bring the profit to the owner who wanted to get rid of all in the first place 😂. It won’t convert them to upcycle their stuff.
Thoroughly disliked the chair - the lone bright pink leg was off- putting but I am glad someone disagreed with me
Yep. As soon as I saw the hot pink I said to myself "Oh Jay. What have you done?"
Really? I love that chair. I guess to each his own. 💁♀️
I also don't like the chair-it looks like he ran out of fabric
Ugh. That chair deserved a nice brown leather.
repair, reuse, repurpose
Too bad the shade couldn't be industrial look too!
I know a lot of thought, a lot of work went into this dual effort but...sorry, I think it's just ugly and still looks like what it is - scrap metal.
How does Jay get his money back? He paid for the chair to be dine and gave all the profit back to the original owner
Profit is the income over and above costs.
But that's given to the. original owner...
The show's production department has an operating budget that allows for payment to the costs needed to work on the finds and supplies. That's what commercials are for.
Oh Jay? What were you thinking?
So all Jay did was paint the legs?
Were you asleep? He completely recovered the chair in blue velvet, used a bright floral print for the back and underside as well as painted the legs - every inch of that chair was redone!
@@mattneillninasmom no he didn’t. He had a friend do the upholstery, sleeping beauty.
Don't forget he made that pom pom😅
