  • Allen Williams will speak on adaptive grazing, which produces positive compounding effects that can significantly benefit soil health, plant species complexity and diversity, insect and pollinator species, birds and wildlife, livestock performance and health, and over time, human health and vitality. Adaptive management practices can have a positive influence on local and regional weather impacts, increasing drought resilience and reducing flooding potential. Beyond these compounding benefits, ranchers can realize improvement in net profits per acre, reduced reliance on external inputs, and better quality of life.
Allen is a sixth-generation family farmer, a founding partner of Grass Fed Insights, LLC, and a partner in Joyce Farms, Inc. He consults with farmers and ranchers on operations ranging from a few acres to more than one million. He pioneered many of the early adaptive grazing protocols and forage finishing techniques and has spent the last fifteen years refining them. He is a “recovering academic,” having authored more than 400 scientific and popular press articles, and an invited speaker at national and international conferences. His major areas of research and business focus include soil health, cover crop/livestock integration, adaptive forage and grazing management, high attribute pasture-based meat production, and alternative marketing systems.
