- How I set my rectified porcelain tile level with no lipage. I'ts an old method but very effective.
You mix up a batch of premium thin-set - loose and a bath of mortar to a consistency so you can shape it but not too stiff.
Draw out where the tile will go so you know where the thin-set goes. Trowel some loose thin-set on the floor and then add your mortar. Use your marginal trowel to create peaks that are a little higher than then the floor to be laid. Dry set a piece of tile with a mallet. Pick it up and look for big voids. Small voids are acceptable. Back butter the tile to be laid and comb it once. After that you put it back down where you dry set it earlier. Use the mallet, level and straight edge to bring it to place. The voids that were under there are now filled up with the combed over back piece of the tile. Boom! That's how you mud set. I also do this on walls.
This is profesionall installation !
Thank you sir.
You welcome Ben , I install for 25 years in Florida any size marble, slabs, porcelain rectified in mud set with not joint space .
Looks awesome!
Thanks buddy. Appreciate you stopping by. Miss ya.
are you just using a 3:1 mix of sand and portland for the morter?
I am using pre mixed type S Mortar.
Where are you located?
GREER, South Carolina
Dude is talking about voids with the lippage clips. All he has is voids in that deck mud when he pulls up the tiles.
Who are you talking to when you're saying that on my video? There is no audience that sees your comment. Those voids get filled, genius. Plus, a nice back butter of thinset seals her up. If you're not familiar with this tequnique, go mind your own business. By the way, I use clips now. Haha
@@buildingwithben5637I’m glad I’m not talking to anyone since I made a public comment in your video. But since you don’t have any followers I guess my message if you being a hack of a tile installer. Your mud bed has nothing but voids in it. That’s what I’m talking about. Hopefully no homowner sees this and tries to replicate it.
