This video made me think about how US are big. You drive within one state, from SF to LA in 8 hours. In Europe, if i would head south for 8hours by car i would end somewhere in Croatia, passing 4 countries. Insane. Thx for vid.

Yep. Slightly off topic, but when my family and I drive to Mexico its just under 1000 miles (~1600 km) from our town in Northern California to the border town of Nogales, Arizona. Then its another 1000 miles south to our family's home towns. We pass through 1 state in the US and 5 states in Mexico.

if you mean Europe as a continent then it's larger than USA but it's weirdly shaped and has a very disproportionate country sizes. You can also drive for 8h in Germany, France, Norway... and still be in the same country. And also Americans drive slower, SF to LA is only 600km, that's about 5h in our driving. :)

it's even crazier that the two cities are considered "neighbors"

⚜ Well, we've been riding along here, for an hour and it's still cloudy. I originally, thought it was just the fog of San Francisco, but I'm starting to wonder if the entire drive will be this way. Maybe I'll cheat, and click on ahead to see what's to be expected.

That’s the marine layer. pretty much the entire California coast looks like this during spring and fall. The coastal mountains keep it coastal.

This video only has color grading. Mostly by messing with curves. This video is outdated though. I don’t gamma correct anymore. My style is different now because I record in Dolby Vision HDR; it doesn’t require it as much.

      Look up 1987 golden gate.
2037. That’s when I’ll walk it for the 100th anniversary, it should be crazy. Hopefully, the city will organize it much more than in 1987.

Hi, are u driving non stopped from San Fran to LA? Is there many petrol station on the way? I would like to try this when i go to San Fran on November.

    • @CFloPhotography

Yes this is non stop, only stopping for gasoline. I have a high driving endurance.
There are gas stations in urban areas. But Big Sur is desolate. I would recommend fueling in Monterey and Pismo Beach.
in my opinion Novemmber is the best time to do this trip. No traffic on the 1 and San Fransisco is an empty city. Just make sure you bring warm clothing

Is PCH closed right now? I’m coming in mid may and I don’t see it as an option to drive on from SF to LA.

Mpg at 55mph cruise control is like 60mpg; I’ve hit. Like 42/43mpg at 82 mph.
My record is 72mpg over 215 miles. All LA freeway traffic. Very aggressive hypermilling leaving like a 15 second following gap in the slow lane to avoid any changes in speed. It’s actually easier than it sounds and safe if you’re not easily pressured by other drivers.
I drive fast but accelerate slowly and hardly ever brake, less braking less gas needed to accelerate. I also maximize the way I use the road so I can maintain my speed around corners. The most efficient way to drive a hybrid is to avoid having to regen in the first place because no system is 100% efficient.

Thanks for bringing this up. I was wondering why this video didn't take off like I expected it to.
This video should be in 4K, but youtube never finished rendering. All my videos are in 4K. I emailed support and am reuploading it just in case.
The companion video (LA to SF) is in 4k if you're interested

It would help if you turned up your screen brightness. The video is bright enough even to see the hill outlines towards the end of the video.
