    I love what Ruby Bridges did as a child, I love that she is continuing today. The other day I sat in the University of Texas library with my daughter, and thought... " If Ruby Bridge's had not done what she did...my daughter Marsha nah wouldn't be attending At UT Austin this day. I applaud you Ms. Bridges for your bravery! God was truly in that plan.

    This is shocking news of what happened behind the scenes, but we all need to hear it. Hatred is a cancer that can only be cured through genuine love for our neighbours. Many blessings to you, Ms. Bridges. Thank you for paving the way for so many others. Thank you for making amazing history.

    Can't believe that any so-called Christian could make a 6 year-old child endure so much hate. Remember Christ was a Jew and dark skinned... Brave, brave spirit, Ruby! Full admiration for remaining thoughtful and helpful to others.

      I don't think we are all Yah's children, and I don't think we are all equal. It sounds good, but is it the Truth.

      Of course. He was a Jew and was a dark skinned man from the Middle East from Israel to be exact. Many people are just born unintelligent and ignorant and children in particular are also taught by their parents to be the way they are. Usually I do not say this, but I feel sorry for many children who are missing out.

      @@anotherpointofview222 We aren't literally all equal because some have higher I.Q.s than others, but we all bleed red blood. In genetic makeup, we are all humans.

    She was my son's class hero for Kindergarten. They learned about her story in class. He came home & told me all about her. He said she was very brave to go to school even though they didn't want her there. She just wanted to go to school like me. Having him say, "we don't care about our color of our arms" put a smile on my face.

    Ruby, my Lord, what they did to you. I am in tears. We are the same age. From a Connecticut perspective, my father had one black friend that I know of anyway. His name was Art, who was a bus driver. Art was invited over our house once in awhile for lunch. But now as I look back, I wonder why Art’s family was never invited over for dinner. And why I never got to meet his children and play with them in the back yard. I’ll never know. Maybe Art didn’t have a family. My father had a little bit of racism in him but not the kind you could easily identify. During the troubled times alternately known as the riots, perhaps in 1967 in Hartford, I recall my father remarking, “It’s not the ones (Black folk) from here that’s causing all the trouble. It’s the ones coming up from the south.” That comment echoes in my memory.
    I can now laugh at his naivety for a few reasons. One is that he defined the street troubles as “problems” instead of a natural resistance to the dominant, ie, oppressive white culture. And two, the people he misidentified as behavioral problems were a heightened political identity resisting the system. And damn it, why didn’t I ever meet Art’s kids. It will be a mystery forever.
    Peace unto you, Ruby.

    • @1SweetQ
      @1SweetQ 2 года назад

      I suspect you never met Art's family because your father had that "little bit of racism in him" one black friend was enough. I suspect he didn't have any white friends over when Art was there did he? Your dad didn't own the bus that Art drove did he? I'm just wondering out loud because for his family to never be invited, that doesn't sound like much of a friendship...and your Dad wasn't naive to what was happening. He basically said we ha e good blacks here who don't make trouble. His attitude then was like a lot of white people now, be a good black person, don't make us uncomfortable or force us to face our wrongs. He knew exactly what was happening, as a white man in that day. As a child, I suspect, you would not have known, and your perspective comes from your own naivete. I only hope that you are contributing to dismantling the same systems that those adults back in your childhood fought so hard to maintain. That your dear father was "naive" to...

    Thank you, Ruby for being such a serene and powerful agent - a human angel - to give us a chance of redemption, of our acknowledging both our fears and limitations, which lead us into petty and ignoble behavior, and our capacity to rise above that and become kind and worthy humans. And thank you Norman Rockwell Museum for sharing. PS. I intend to use this video in my EFL classes here in Brazil.
