Q: I was wondering, Kathy, what could anyone possibly see in this big oaf anyway? Is it the tattoo? Because MINE'S BIGGER! Captain Janeway: Not big enough.
We have seen other Q mess with free will, for example, the one that was enamored with Riker. This is pushy and inappropriate for human standards, but here, Q is respecting the Captain's autonomy. As much as a Q can show respect for a human. This is the same guy that condemned a bunch of innocent people to die at the hands of the Borg in the Enterprise's first encounter with them, that he initiated. The value he places on human rights or human life or human choice is very limited. Especially if he can rationalize it as ending up saving more human lives than he condemned, by giving humanity that heads' up about the Borg. He's very big picture and is willing to hurt people, he can often behave like a very amoral being. Yet, he did refuse to tamper with the free will and ended up eventually respecting the rejection. If Q can do that, we can too, lads.
He didn't actually condemn those 18 people to die, the Enterprise chose to stick around. But I agree that he was respectful in a way considering he's super powerful, although he should have taken no for an answer the first time

It's no surprise that the same actor who plays Q, ends up being the character Discord in My Little Pony. I apologize for the odd comparison, but those two characters are almost interdimensional versions of each other. In the MLP:FIM series, Discord is a chaotic being that pursues Fluttershy, the element of kindness. Whereas, in this show, Q, a more complex interdimensional being, creates chaos and has interest in Captain Janeway, a strong and independent individual. Both Q and Discord kinda mirror each other in a few ways. Just an observation.
If Q offers to snap Voyager home if Janeway complies, I think she would do it. Then the TV series would have ended. An inconvenient truth or a convenient omission.
@@TentaclePentacle. Nah, way too smart. With Q there will always be a catch, which cannot (or can hardly) be anticipated, and a guarantee that you will regret it, no matter what the actual outcome is.🖖🏼

@@christinacody8653 why would there be any fallout. The captain is willing to give her life to get the crew home so why not just have a kid with Q. Better than losing your life.

Love that line, "Really! I beat out a single cell organism?" Its like a reverse burn that Q totally misses.
JdL and KM had great chemistry. They also knew each other before Star Trek.
“Q?!”
“…Red alert!”
I always thought it was clever how they showed off Q's tattoo. It wasn't until years later watching it on DVD did I work it out.
work what out?
Whenever Q showed up you knew that he was up to no good. It was always funny though!!! 🖐️

De Lancie had some Trelane going in his performance and i love it.
There's long been speculation the Trelane was a Q.
@@christinacody8653 Q is clearly superior to Trelane.
1:59 Love how Janeway yawns "Come in."🥱 Wonder if Chakotay thought "Oh, sounds like someone's still half asleep." as he walks in lol
Voyager was always my favourite ship:)
I thought it had the best humor of any star trek.
Q tries to get with every captain, I swear.
They keep rejecting him, thereby making it more fun and challenging for him lol
Except Sisko!
You have to be brave, or stupid, or both to call her, Kathy! 😂
Or functionally omnipotent

Indecent Proposal (1993).

I'd say it's a dull day in the continuum... but I know this episode better. Shame Picard ignored this concept.
I wonder how the Romulan Empire would respond to Q's trying to seduce the empress.
So Q did not help them return home, or they never bothered to asked for his help.😮

How the hell does Q show up without making a sound?
Cuz he's Q that's how lol
Yeah, all the snap, flair, sound and light. It's all just extra, they can make what they want to happen without any of those.
I love John de Lancie as Q. But in Voyager the character was not so well used as in The Next Generation.... By a long margin....
Q could have created another Janeway and mated with that one.
If I were that omnipotent, I'd make my own Jadzia or Ezri to mate with.

I felt that way since the day this episode was first shown!
Maybe you should just take one for the team instead of telling women what they have to do with their own bodies. It's not pride, you fool.
It would of been so easy to get her crew back home if she went with Q idea.

Nope there would be consequences especially with a jealous female q around.
Scrawny!
