      I’m over here trying to see the difference between my 34 button 3 row vs simple 1 row.
      Materials on this one look more reinforced since you only play a button at a time

    Diatonic does not mean that you get different notes by pulling and pushing. It means that the instrument is tuned to a specific scale (mostly the good old major scale) instead of having access to all 12 semitones.

    • @Blokfluitgroep
      @Blokfluitgroep Год назад +2

      You are totally right. At least for flutes, Most of the time, in the accordion universe diatonic instruments also have the "feature" of different notes by pulling and pushing, but there are some exceptions: the english concertina and the bandoneon are chromatic, but still give other notes for pushing and pulling.

    • @Phillip-y6d
      @Phillip-y6d 10 месяцев назад

      he said key feature of a diatonic accordion is ponic on the push and zonanant on the pull.
      can't you hear too good ?

      @raccoon6072 7 месяцев назад +3

      @@Phillip-y6dyes, and that's wrong. Diatonic means: one scale and no extra accidentals . Not to be confused with bisonoric.

    • @Persun_McPersonson
      @Persun_McPersonson 15 часов назад

      @raccoon6072 Saying it's a key feature of a diatonic accordion is not the same as saying that's what the word diatonic means.

  • @prusik100
    @prusik100 17 дней назад

    with push/pull one button will give tonic tone and the next the scale or visa versa. Not the dominant( =5th).

  • @levibaus1223
    @levibaus1223 Год назад +2

    Okay, now I'm just confused. The accordion I just got (it was my grandpa's and was from Russia) seems to be the opposite... It's like the chord resolves when I pull the accordion, not when I push it. What's up with that?

    • @Persun_McPersonson
      @Persun_McPersonson 15 часов назад

      Accordions aren't ultra syandardized compared to other instruments; for example, there are like a dozen or more key layouts.

    Diatonic doesn’t mean two notes on each button. The term is bisonoric.
    Diatonic accordions just happen to be bisonoric while chromatic accordions are unisonoric

    Do conflicts ever arise between pulling the bellows out (for volume\air control) and getting the correct note to sound? (Don't have that issue with the piano accordion).

    Diatonic does *not* mean you get different sounds on push and pull. It only means the instrument is tuned for a single key. Bisonoric means you get different notes on push and pull.

    • @Phillip-y6d
      @Phillip-y6d 10 месяцев назад

      @@Phillip-y6d Did you watch the beginning of the video? At the 0:09 mark, they say "the word 'diatonic accordion' means that you get different sounds pushing and pulling the same button", which is wrong. The actual definition of "diatonic accordion" is an accordion which only has notes in a diatonic scale, as opposed to a chromatic scale. Most diatonic accordions are also bisonoric, but that's not a requirement.

      Is there a difference? I mean: wouldn't be the C major accordion the same as an A minor accordeon, since both have the same notes: CDEFGAB? The same holds for G/Em or F/Dm?
