- Installing a PTO on a Versatile 4WD Tractor
Video of me installing a PTO (Power Take Off on a Versatile 460 tractor. PTO's are an option on all Versatile 4 wheel drive tractors. You can get these factory installed or can add one as a field installed option later.
I added it this to our Versatile 460 tractor and we will be using this as our grain cart tractor. In the video you will see this tractor hooked to a J&M 1112X grain cart. I will be featuring these two machines in my 2020 harvest videos. Авто/Мото
Several comments:
1- Good thing you’re a dead lifter
2-that’s why old farmers/mechanics walk bent over
3-kept thinking about Legs Arms breaking his arm working alone on a BigBud drawbar.
Great Video. Versatile appears well engineered to work on.
Step1: Lift weights for several years
I must say Versatile is thee best lookin red tractor ever manufactured. I spent a lot of hours runnin my uncle's 875.
Pretty good weight lifter there Mike. Who needs a frontend loader when Mike is on the job.
Wow...I am impressed Mike! Please take care of your back.
Lifting is one thing, but the speed in which you put those PTO switch screws in - that was impressive...lol. Great video Mike and thanks for teaching me something new. You are the Man!
Great job Mike. Good to see that some people are actually are willing to do the hard work 'on-site' And do it right. You certainly deserve your spot.
Awesome job on putting all of that together Mike! That tractor and grain cart is a nice looking setup sir!!
Thanks for the video! I would have never thought that you could buy a tractor without a PTO. Even my subcompact 755 JD had duel PTO’s. It’s like owning a shovel without a handle. I wouldn’t want to do this to many times!
Love the look and colors of Versatile's. Thanks for the video.
You are a great mechanic👍😉 looking forward to see the versatile on grain cart duty😁👍
Well Mike, you did a great job. Maybe next time, have someone help you. I know it's not always convenient but it could be a lifesaver. 👍👍
Work smarter not harder..
That was one of your best videos!! Goes to show us that you are not all talk!! Thanks!!
You have definitely inspired me to put a PTO on my John Deere 9300 now!!! Thank you!!!
Well done Mike, great to watch, keep doing it.
Fantastic job, Mike! Looking at a 700 Series that needs a lot of help... your machine is beautiful!
Great job Mike!!! Gonna need a bigger grain cart now!!!
You need to find out how that “finger snap” works. 😆
He would have to talk to Millennial farmer special technique LOL
Manhandled quite a few heavy things in my day from 12' foot logs for a log cabin to main boom and dipperstick cylinders on an 15 ton backhoe. While it does save time sometimes my back hasn't stopped hurting for years. So I built a engine hoist/cherry picker for the front of my Steiner. Doesn't stop my back from hurting but does prevent me from damaging it more. Be something that would be pretty easy to haul behind your truck for a job like this and is small enough to get into a lot a places that you can't with a loader.
that woulda been so nice to have way back in the day for dad's two old dinasour versatiles
Hey Mike, love the videos. Don’t get to leave a comment much but I always enjoy your videos and I love those versatile tractors. I grew up running a couple articulated 145 models with Cummins engines in them not sure what year probably late 60s? Keep up the good work though you’re a good dude take it easy
You are a hard worker Mike with a strong back -- your chiro must be great
Professional job for a first time. Great work!
From a purely safety point of view, it would have been better for you to have an assistant, not only to help with the heavy lifting, but if for some reason you did injure yourself, there is someone else around to get help to you quickly.
A case in point being the video of Leg Arms (of Welker Fatms fame), working on the Big Bud drawbar, when it fell on his arm and seriously injured him. Was in hospital for a bit and needless to say, out of action for a while also.
Prevention is better than cure.
Always enjoy your videos - them Versatiles sure are sharp looking machines, particularly the newer 2023 ones with the black framework. I believe they're quite a bit cheaper than the competition but look like they're still solidly enough built, with no corners cut. 😊
Whodda Man... Youdda man!!!
Great video like the safety measures you put into place!!!
Mike you are the best, we follow you from Italy
3:30 I know that you're a strong guy but PLEASE use a pushcart next time instead of carrying
these heavy parts.
You only got one back...😮
Great job and thanks for the video! 👍🏻😊
Great job on the PTO.
Great awesome video mike, nice install plus u get a good workout too
Outstanding video! Thanks for sharing!
Great Video. Great Job on the Install. You need to do more videos like this.
I thought you going turn green lifting pto gearbox LOL nice job on installing PTO👍
You have more patience than me. Good job Mike
Piece of cake. Great video. Thank you.
Great job Mike 👍 Be safe
love your content Mr Mike.
Great video Mike. You need some outback wrap hose tamer for that cart!
You’re a beast mike, nice work!
Great to see Mike thank you for the video and thumbs up. :)
More videos like this, really enjoyed it thank you!
Nice to see you get dirty and it’s not always the glitz and glamor! Lol
Looks good would love to see that tractor and grain cart in field with versatile comvine
Great video Mike, that's pretty cool you beat the estimated time lol
Great job Mike
My back started hurting just watching this!
Hello Mike Less from Mexico you are the best
Great job mike!
Awesome Mike 🚜👍
Good one Mike.
If I was in the market for a large 4wd tractor either with tires or tracks Versatile would be my first choice, be my second choice as well. I like the way they seem to take the best components and put them together. Be nice to have one from the late 90's with a 60 Series Detroit in it.
Good Lord my back hurt just watching you do that
Very Interesting Good Job!
Great job.!!!
Mike the very best
Tractor
That new red paint sho is purdy
Looks like a very well made package. Only a seal or two missing. Pretty rare nowadays...
To do that on your own is fair going💪
That looked heavy!
Well done! Guess you got some weight lifting in on that install.
That is one sexy looking tractor an grain cart 👍👍👍👍👍🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
your the man now leg and one arm is down be safe
I've done that job so much I swear I can do it with my eyes closed almost.
Mike, can’t believe you didn’t put that up there with one hand! - lol
Good thing you did not get your junk between the draw bar and the drop box!! LOL
I’d get some help to lift the case by the pivots. And if you can’t get help use an engine cherry picker to lift the case on the rear. Several months ago I lifted up to slide a 4 level 4’ by 8’ plywood shelf and I feel the pain in my back when I’m in bed and when I wake up. Next time I have to move it I’ll figure a better way to do it.
Excellent!! I would love to know the cost of the field install, vs the factory installed version. You are a strong man, Mike, and you wisely lift with your legs. I am now subscribed!! Bryan, from Nova Scotia, Canada
There is gym strong, and than farm 💪
Boom truck- we don’t need no stinking boom truck!
18 hr job, pfft you did it in 12 minutes flat if you ask me. Ez-peezy.
Like a giant meccano set
1 st crack ,no leaks ,congrats !
Must have had a great ag mechanics teacher!👍
Yes sir and some great fellow students.
You ever talk to Danny K
Very cool! Very impressive! Where is this tractor located? I live in Darke County and travel your neighborhood frequently. I’d love to watch this in action in person.
you did way better than i could i would have wore the first gallon of oil when i drain any oil and i hate digging in to wiring and crap like that in the cab please do next time get someone to help you when you are doing heavy work like that i am now disabled and in a wheel chair 90% of the time from doing heavy lifting with out help it dont pay any more to try and be a hero take it from someone that knows i dont aim to sound like i am chewing you out just helpful words from one farm hand to you being you are a farm hand
That’s a big plug! Zach Johnson: That’s what she said
Done a good job there got to be worth a bonus lol
Two questions. How much is the kit cost and how many hrs were on the tractor before install . Going to get a lot more hrs now. You proved it can be done quickly.
Does the pto guard on tractor lift off, tip up to make life easier sliding/removing pto shafts, much needed, save on not having skinned knuckles!
I Love it when a plan comes together. Thanks for sharing. Did you beat the 18 hour estimate?
Yes I did
When is versatile going to try and make a comeback here in the South (North Louisiana)? There are some old dinosaurs still running on a farm not far from my house. It would be cool to see them.
Don't hurt your back. Im a retired Firemen and have had 4 back surgeries...:)
You beat the 18 hours by a long shot you got it done in 15:24. Plenty of time to spare.
They didn't change much from the pto on my Triple Nickel Versatile👍
Always check for oil leaks twice... :)
Cool video 👍👍👍. What is the cost of something like that I wonder. I guess if you can afford a big tractor like that it's a drop in the bucket.lol.
Wat een mooie en interessante video ik ben zelf ook boer in Holland wat hebben jullie daar grote machines groeten
Good work, can I borrow it this year for harvest? Oh wait, nevermind we just quit seeding half way through because it's too damn dry
No seat sensor for pto, nice.
I would really like to see a Versatile combine.
Mike do you have a merch shop I really want that versatile shirt you are wearing
Probably wouldn't hurt to put some lockout tagout tags on the tractor either even if you do have the batteries disconnected and the key hidden away somewhere.
And watching the videos I have one question the dropbox on the transmission how is it lubricated is it isolated from the transmission or is the transmission pumping lubricant through it just wondering good video
What exactly is Farmhand Mike's job description? I've never been able to fully figure that out
Hmm seems like overkill for the cart but probably one of those situations where your next smaller mover is to small?
Single speed PTO, (I guess 1000 RPM) or selectable?
That sure looks like a lot of lifting!
It's small spline, so it is 1000 RPM. 540RPM is too power limited for a tractor that large.
Mike can you still get pto kits for the older buhler versatile 2425?
At least it’s big gear and easier to work on. Pain in the ass doing PTO’s on small landowner tractors...east to do but not nearly the access.
I feel like I’m watching the worlds strongest man
How are the electric on them is it like a john Deere or case hi
Didn't see you looking at instructions. As I was typing you were saying on running video, you looked at web site. Who needs a strap, come a long, when Mike is around.
