    I sold my Hs80m after being very pleased with them many years and bought 8030c. I was very disappointed for two years. I just couldn’t hear the details in midrange like I did on Hs80m. I can totally understand what you mean! I thought it was an expensive mistake. But... After two years I bought 7040 sub and everything changed. Because of hi-pass filter on sub, 8030c now don’t have to deal with low freq any more and they really shine in mids and highs. I can hear everything much better than before on Hs80m. I don’t regret selling my Hs any more. They were great monitors but now for me, they can’t compare with 8030c/7040. Great sound, perfect balance...!

    I had a Yamaha HS 7 but subjectively I didn’t like how it sounds.
    Now I’m in the funny (but slightly stressing) process to find my next monitors, a lot of money invested in trials, returning 14 days period (which is the legal condition in my country) allowed me to compare a bunch of speakers.
    Finally the two last contenders are Neumann KH 120 ii (which is deadly flat, perhaps too much) and Genelec 8030c
    I noticed what you say, Genelec is on the warm side despite of its flat frequency response curve on anechoic conditions.
    I believe that it will sound way more neutral with some room treatment, the bass port has massive resonances.
    I believe also the Neumann kh 120 with DSP will sound more natural with a SPDIF connection, because with analogue XLR input it make unnecessary analgue-> digital-> analogue reconversion. Waiting for a Wiim Pro streamer to verify that.
    Any suggestions for a 5 inch speaker pair? For pleasure listening and use at digital piano monitors (Kawai ES 920, onboard speakers are just minimalistic)

      @FergMartice Год назад

      @josercomposedit5558 Awesome!! Great job! I couldn't tell from the video, which means the panels are doing their job without bringing attention to themselves. I, too, have a pair of the Genelec 8030's and I truly appreciate what they do. However, I just paired them with Hedd Type 7's and for the first time, I truly feel I don't need a second speaker reference. I always thought I would do better with two sets of speakers, but the Hedds provide me with a level of performance that i no longer use the Gens. I do employ my headsets for a second perspective, but the Gen's are going up for sale. The AMT tweeter really is wonderful to hear, regardless if their used in the Adam's, Eve's, or the Hedds. Anyway, enough waffling. Keep banging those tunes out and keep posting. New subscription!

    i agree somewhat on this. I do think the genelecs better option if you got the money though. I have tested both hs7 and genelec 8020, not 8030. And i think the hs7 is very good for a refference monitor for mixing vocals and mix mids to high mids with it. I do think the genelecs better built and got better instrument seperation and more detail and a flatter warmer sound. It got the most things and it dosnt tire your ears out like the hs7 do. Both need a sub though.

    We definitely have a lot in common.. Once my ears were trained to the Yamaha's which were my first set of monitors I've been hooked every since. What's crazy is that I'm actually about to purchase the Genelec 1080's and the sub to go with it. My question to you is if I combine both the Yamaha hs7 along with the Genelec 1080's speakers which sub would be best to use? the Genelec sub or the Yamaha sub? Thanks for sharing this information. It's not too many videos on the Genelec speakers

    • @Joeyelkey
      @Joeyelkey  Год назад

      I’m on the look out for a sub as well,drawn to the Yamaha just because. I think when it comes to the sub frequencies you won’t hear as much of the sound “signature” of the brand as you would the other frequencies. I know a lot of people use the KRK sub for a large variety of speakers. So if you’re wanting to do the Genelecs and the sub with them and use it for the Yamahas I think it’ll work good

      @@ashavari I’m sure they have a similar signature but you’re going to get very little low end on the 8010’s. I would have those as a reference,but for your main speakers I would actually not recommend something that small. • @Joeyelkey

      Off the top of my head,Edifier makes great stuff . The JBL studio monitors are also underrated. I have the JBL 308s and they’re my commercially listening speakers in my room for my tv. If I’m being honest I wouldn’t look to spend over $1,000 on any set if you’re not working on music production,something for just a couple hundred bucks I think would make you very happy. KEF and Edifier off the top of my head,JBL for honorable mention
