    A+ rants on Goodrow and Rutta. The Rutta rant literally had me LOL'ing: "over....and over....and over (pause).....AND OVER AGAIN!
    What I appreciate is that your rants are not rants just to get cheap clicks. You are legitimately (and appropriately) criticizing poor play and questionable coaching / line decisions. Keep up the great work.

    We are very good at those 3rd period chokes. If the game was only 2 periods we would have a winning record lol

    I was eating dinner during the 2nd period intermission and changed the channel, so I had a hearty chuckle when I finally turned the game back on 6 minutes into the third and saw that the VGK scored 3 goals in that short amount of time.

    Hey Professor,
    I actually missed this game I am sorry to say. Even though the Sharks lost I would have enjoyed watching Shakir get his first career goal. I do like Shakir and think he has a bright future. I think Coach Spears has a tall order in front of him if he is to affect positive changes in Georgiev's play in net. Obviously we have a lot of time before the trade deadline but, it's not looking good so far.

      @@professorhockey I have wondered how the goalie development works with Nabby at the top of that chain, Spears and Ryan Millar? I was very happy when we brought Ryan Millar into the fold. I think he was a great goalie in his day but, from his interview when he was hired it kind of sounds like the role for him was undefined to some extent and that they intended to figure it out?

    I think it’s very odd how Drew Remenda holds Goodroe in such high regard. I agree with you that he is pretty bad. The sentimentality of his former famous plays masks the fact that he helps us tank again. Georgiev is a great goalie pick if you want a top 5 pick.
    I was hoping Sharks goalie coaches would reclaim G, but he seems to let in some soft goals. Can’t wait for Sharks to get two more good D men and give the fully to Askarov.

      Yeah it’s been very strange, there hasn’t been much said about him, and I see zero reason to obfuscate the details of an injury to a depth player like that.

    Whew! It's looking like the Avs got the better on the Blackwood trade. I agree professor, Mr. G should have stopped a couple of those goals! Oh happy new year for Blackwood, he now has 25 million reasons to smile!

      The trade was for the 2nd rounder and kovalenko. Georgiev is just a body at goalie to make the trade work so we will see what comes from the pick to know who wins the trade in the end.

    Is there any correlation between young teams and better 2nd periods? As the long change on the bench could favor the energy of younger players???

    • @professorhockey
      @professorhockey  4 дня назад

      It’s an interesting thought, would have to look into it. I would argue the long change would normally work against them more since it can punish weaker teams.

      @ agreed in general, but was just wondering if say a bad team that had an average age of say 24 vs a bad team will an average age of around 30 consistently plays better or worse in 2nd periods… for example how do Nashville or the Penguins play in the 2nd?

    That was bold of you to complain about Rutta wasting shots on net, if his shots ever make it on net I celebrate, but 95% of the time they are blocked high in the slot and the play is over

    Another disappointing end to an otherwise very good game. I agree on your takes with the team, but I’m curious. What’s your honest take on Warso? Personally I don’t think he’s the guy for this team, but I’d love to hear your thoughts.

    • @professorhockey
      @professorhockey  4 дня назад +1

      I wasn’t a big fan of picking up a coach who was as closely associated with last years team. There have also been some questionable decisions roster and system wise. Now that he’s here, I think we have to let it ride a bit since this year was likely to always be a bit of a wash, but I hope the leash isn’t as long as some other rebuilding coaches have had.

    • @ponyboy9765
      @ponyboy9765 4 дня назад

      @ well said. Any chance you’d consider adding the coach to your quarterly assessment of the team, or do you think it might be a bit redundant?

    • @professorhockey
      @professorhockey  4 дня назад +1

      @@ponyboy9765 I don't think the coach's performance really changes much from quarter to quarter, it would probably be more an individual video at the end of the season.

    Georgiev shouldn’t start for Sharks anymore! I understand the reclamation project idea and everything but it’s not worth it honestly. He’s not reliable keeper unfortunately, I don’t understand how he lasted 2 seasons in Colorado. It’s not only his fault obviously but I feel more solidly if Askarov is in the net and if I feel that, players feel that on another level.

    • @professorhockey
      @professorhockey  4 дня назад +1

      To be fair, they don’t really have any other options right now. Vanecek is injured, and with this being a back to back, you can’t really play Askarov both games.
