Jenny, Several years back, here in VA 7A, I planted a Black Lace elderberry in part shade under my bedroom window. Despite the reduced level of sun, it has grown HUUUGE (😉). It doesn't flower as profusely in shadier conditions, but w/ foliage like that, I'd love it even if it never flowered. ❤
Here in my Pacific Northwest 8b garden, I planted 3 different camellias about four years ago, and they are just now looking more full and healthy. Worth the wait!
I'm in 8B, had my lemony lace in part sun. It Got wrecked and I barely saved it. Moved into a spot that gets morning sun... in shade from 10-11A. Maybe a bit filtered light in the afternoons, I water it during the summers and it's been doing great for me. Budding this spring so I can't wait for the flowers! Loaded up pretty good considering it's in mostly shade.
Love.... the Lemony Lace Elderberry is beautiful! We live in zone 9/Central California. It's still in the 90's and has not reached the 50's at night yet. I planted 2 Black Lace Elderberry 3 years ago. They are in morning sun/afternoon shade. Thank you for the amazing drone footage. :)
Jenny i live in Queensland Australia and we also get very very hot summers and it gets very humid i have Camellias growing you should be OK as you have planted it under the trees were they will get some protection from the cold winter... Good Luck with it they are well worth the effort.
Oh the lemon and lace LOVES the hot hot sun here. I'm in Northern Utah (same weather as Laura). We do cool down at night though. We're well above 100 many many days in the summer.
Love your knowledge of your area, I guess I do mine in Australia, but, we don't have "zones" Summers hot/humid wet, Winters mild. I'm semi tropical, pretty WET. I just love hearing about different plants, my front garden is hot/dry, back shady wet. I'm on a slope !
I live about a mile from camellia forest. 😁 they also have nice conifers btw and their camellias are sold online - David has a big mail order business. If you like snowbells you’d also like snow flurry which is cold hardy (6b). It has the same Weeping form/habit, clear white flowers and my 3 are each full of buds.
Hello! You think of a great project. Elder and camellia amazing varieties. I hope your camellia will winter well and we will see its charming flowering. Good luck to you👍🌻💙
Im in zone 8a and planted 3 elderberries..I knew it was a risk..but so far they survived the heat wave we had..I kept them in a place that protects them from afternoon sun
I love elderberries. I planted the dark one (because 4b is generally too cold for Japanese maples) a few years ago. I am amazed how big they get. Definitely need to keep mine in check by pruning it.
Good morning Jenny. Excellent video with superb production standards. Thanks so much for sharing a tour of your lovely garden. Have a great weekend. 🌹🌹🌻🌻
I saw the bee hives for the first time along the driveway! Awesome! Someday I am coming to your nursery! I have family in Raleigh and New Bern areas. I am thinking Spring 2023. When do you officially re-open? Can't make the Fall this year. But, I would love too.
Jenny, I'm in Morganton NC and have a lemony lace elderberry. I'm wanting to plant in a shaded garden. Im inquiring on how the ones you planted last fall have done and if you have any additional advice on planting this in our area. Thank you Kathy Smith
Very nice video, thank you! Near the end, I saw some hives filmed by the drone. Are these yours? There must be loads of nectar for them so close to the nursery.
Everything is looking soo pretty! Nice and neat too, which I love. I'm really interested in the lemony lace elderberry. I realize you haven't had these before but can you tell me anything as far as pruning? I'm guessing late winter early spring but how much do you prune? I hope these do well for you cause I have a spot for one. Thanks Jenny ❤️
I saw a Lemony Lace Elderberry at our Garden Center in Augusta...BEAUTIFUL! We are "technically" zone 8a, but 7b is directly above us in our county. Do you think I could get by with it? Where would I need to place it to help it get along?
Hi Jenny! (Jerry-Jenny’s main squeeze!)Thanks for showing us your tenacious side and risky inspiration in planting slightly out of your zone! I have a gardenia up north in zone 5b.. wish me luck please!🤞✨🤍
Today the guy at the nursery warned me not to use "fertilizer"( biotone starter) right now. I said "my youtube friend who is also in NC is still doing it🙃" 😄
The drone videos always give me goose bumps as everything is so beautiful!!

Container your maples 🍁 yes it's a pain but they're a great Container plant.
Thanks for the elderberry info! We've been wanting one for a while! 😀
Wish you the best of luck with these! Awesome drone footage!

This are great addition to the garden, thanks for all the info!
I have a lemony lace elderberry that is limping thru it’s first year. I’ll be interested in how yours does. The camellia sounds amazing!

Jennie I live in Texas in 7b? Will camellias live here? I love them. Thank you
What an amazing property you guys live on so beautiful- especially your gardens ☺️ GOD BLESS
Beautiful area
I found a camellia that is hardy to my zone 6a garden. I was soooo excited because I do love camellias. 🍁🍂🍁💚🙃
Hi Jenny !!!!
I am going to be so interested in how your camellia does. I had them when I lived in Myrtle Beach, but miss them when I moved to Nashville.
Jenny, I'm in Morganton NC and have a lemony lace elderberry. I'm wanting to plant in a shaded garden. Im inquiring on how the ones you planted last fall have done and if you have any additional advice on planting this in our area.

I'm still working on finding the "perfect" spot for these babies to thrive in. I'll keep you updated!
I need that camellia in my life!
Very nice video, thank you! Near the end, I saw some hives filmed by the drone. Are these yours? There must be loads of nectar for them so close to the nursery.
We are the “host family” for our neighbor’s bees. We love having our ladies in the gardens!
Good luck. 🙃🍂🍁💚🙃

Valleys get the freeze first - no?
Maybe try a camellia at the top of the hill nearby where you can protect it if need be every year.
That means it will get intense full sun, so I’ll take my chances on where it is 😊

I had mine fry in full sun and start to die back last year. I moved it to half day sun this year and it's doing great this year in 7b NC.

Hopefully we’ll both have great success with our experiments❣️
My poor lemony lace fries so I will be moving it here shortly. Can't wsot to see the blooms on the camellia ❤️
Today the guy at the nursery warned me not to use "fertilizer"( biotone starter) right now. I said "my youtube friend who is also in NC is still doing it🙃" 😄
Well bless him! It is perfectly safe & appropriate to use Bio-tone whenever you add new plants to the garden😊
