Welp… My usb connector on the drive is loose and was hoping to disassemble and pop the drive into another shell. So much for that. Thanks for showing us that the doofs at wd went non-standard and you saved so many of us from wasted effort. You’re doing great work here, keep it up!!
I was so cloooose to disassemble my drive to use in my new PC. I just needed to make sure how to do it. thanks for saving me from a stupid decision bro
Same as one of the comments below, I almost took mine apart to get some quick storage added on to a desktop system I have. This saved me from an $80 mistake.
I was thinking about grabbing 6 of their 4TB drives, which are like $80 now for my SAS/SATA RAID array in my server, and then I saw this. Thanks for saving me $500+ (with tax)! I have one of the 4TB drives already as a scratch disk for torrents. It works well enough for that, but it would be better in RAID 10 as an archival option. The SATA equivalent is like $102 each, and I don't even want to try to find a high speed SAS variant, because those are likely still $1000 each. (SAS drives are stupid expensive new.)
I have 1TB my passport and all my files ( games, operating systems, drivers and movies are inside which I can't access it due to the fatal hardware error that is showing. How to resolve it?
what a piece of junk hard drive. buddy asked me to look at his drive because windows not seeing it. i thought, ok i will just take the drive out and hook it up to an adapter. NOPE. I will never buy one of these.

Yeh always tricky, it may even seem like there was not one.
Is it possible if i can transfer it to another enclosure?
Yes if its a matching one
Did you try to replace the old HDD with an SSD? Thank you 🤓

U can change his mother board for put it in a laptop. It works ?
No diffrent connection
U can change a mother board with sata connector ! I want to try it
So inside it is 3.5 12mm sata drive?
Yes but its not like the normal ones. It uses a special connector that's not standard.
Is there any way to use it on a desktop computer without connecting via USB?
very good video!
No that's the only .If it was a regular Hard drive you could be seeing its specially made for these enclosures you are out of luck.
@@rickytlc1985 ok, Thank you for your answer!)
Good guide. Still trying to pry the lid off. Wish me luck.
Did you pry the lid off finally?
@@HumbertoHacked nope, found the data elsewhere.
@@janinecat1865 So, how were you able to access the data? I have 2 of these that have imprisoned my data. Is there a micro usb to sata adapter?

Thank you so much, very helpful!
Glad to know you found this useful.
Thank you 😊
Thanks dude!
Thank you.
Ok friend
Can you guide me how to recover the password?? Or how to disabled??
Speaking as someone that works with hard drives I don't recommend these drives because they're not able to be set up in a PC/PS3/4
Gracias me funciono!
disappointed wth those round connectors that I cant unscrew and now need to send my hard drive out to a repair company
ONLY BUY SEGATE - YOU CAN USE THEIR EXTERNAL USB DRIVES AS INTERNAL - NEVER BUY WD FOR THIS REASON.
Siyahi baba adamsın.
that look like it maybe e-sata connector on the drive. Can anybody confirm?
It's a micro-USB 3.0 connector.
@@ryan8374 I think he meant the actual hard drive to the connector inside
Gee, thanks for telling us that the drive won't work inside a regular PC until the very end of the video.
I skipped to that part lol
what a piece of junk hard drive. buddy asked me to look at his drive because windows not seeing it. i thought, ok i will just take the drive out and hook it up to an adapter. NOPE. I will never buy one of these.
Yeh quite a surprise on the connector.
Incomplete
