So today I’m going to talk about stereotypes. A stereotype is an idea or image about a group of people that might be true or but it might also be a little oversimplified. This is an topic that a lot of us might find pretty funny but some people might also get offended when this topic come up. My intention with this video is definitely not to offend any of you, so I think it would be better If I focused on stereotypes about American rather than stereotypes about people from other countries. I’ll go through some of the most common ones, and then I’ll give you my opinion about how accurate they actually are.
So without further ado, here is the first stereotype. American are rich. This is the stereotype that practically every American will face at some point, if they spend a significant time abroad. As an American who lived abroad for year, I can tell you first hand of this stereotype is strong, no doubt. It usually isn’t a big issue but sometimes you get the feeling that people are looking at you with dollar signs in their eyes. To me, it’s kind of funny because I’m not rich, not even close yet I get treated like this all the time. To an extend though, this stereotype has some general true to it. The average American is definitely better off than the average people from most other countries. So this stereotype is complicated.
The next one is the American don’t know much about the rest of the world. Some might even use the word “ignorant” when describing American’s knowledge about things like names, languages of other countries. This stereotype definitely has some true to it. Obviously, there are many America who are knowledgeable about other countries but by and large the average America doesn’t know a whole lot about foreign countries. For example, many American probably think that Brazilians speak Spanish and many American have probably never heard of countries like : Uzbekistan or Azerbaijan. But let me just say this, in my experience talking to people from all over the world. I’ve found that most people don’t really know a whole lot about countries that are far away from their own. It’s not only Americas that don’t know much about faraway countries, people from other countries don’t know much either. And That’s nature because we normally just pay attention to what is relevant to our lives. For most people knowing about geography seemly isn’t that important. So yes, this second stereotype is somewhat true but I think it’s also true for people from other countries.
Alright, here is another stereotype : Americans are workaholics. A workaholic for those of you who don’t know is someone who addicted to working. This stereotype is an interesting one because I definitely see a lot of truth to it. Compare with other countries, American work a lot and we work pretty hard. I actually like this tradition, I think that being hard working is a great trait to have. We can obviously see the fruit of all this labor as American has produced and invented a lot over the year. However, the negative side to this is that some America are obsessed with their work. Their work consumes their whole life and they don’t have time for anything else. When people take it to that extreme, it’s definitely a bad thing. Overall , I think the stereotype of American being workaholics is fairly accurate but I also think that the work ethic is slowly dropping over time. In think that in this general, our grandparent’s generation probably worked longer and harder than my generation.
Here is one last stereotype : American are very patriotic. Overall, if you compare America to other countries, this one is definitely true. Obviously not everybody is patriotic but if we are considered the nation as a whole , in my opinion, America is definitely the most patriotic country.

Main three stereotypes about America: americans are rich, americans don't know much about other countries, americans are very patriotic and workaholics. Workaholic is addicted to working, when you work a lot and hard and you can't live calm without working.
I think americans are definitely more patriotic than other people, but it's not always good.

Algerian peoples also are such patriotic comparing to others, they show their love for their country.
This topic always causes a lot of jokes and funny stories. I think, there's a red line you shouldn't cross. You can joke on stereotypes if no one's offended and everybody enjoys it. As I consider, any stereotype isn't really as it looks. Mostly people just exaggerate some people's behavior. By and large, I find stereotypes pretty funny.

I think the most patriotic country is Ukraine, especially since 24th February and North Korea. Americans are too, but not as much as Ukrainians and N.koreans are. I live in Russia and there aren’t too much patriotic people here. The majority of people just aren’t interested in their country and policy

I disagree with you on the issue of patriotism. The Palestinians are the most patriotic in the world, and if America were patriotic, it would not have helped the dirty Zionist occupation in occupying lands that are not its own and would have contributed to the killing of children, even those who are still in the womb of their mothers, as well as women and the elderly, but the blame is on the dirty rulers, not the people.
