With my faith and folk magic i was taught it's always better to make a tool or offering because the sacrifice of time labor and knowledge gained in it self is a offering and helps to focus your intent So its nice to know i can continue that tradition while transitioning in to ceremonial magick😁
I want to share this for budget-friendly candle-magick: I get tea lights in a 100-pack from IKEA for like $4 or something. It's my go-to for tea lights. I get my other candles from Walmart. And then I just cleanse them all myself. Hope that helps!
Tea lights are a lifesaver, safe for modern homes, and maybe those thick short glass holders for tealight candles. Nothing nerve-wracking like overly ostentatious candelabras to tip over long candles...
I'm on a tight budget in San Antonio, Texas. Around here people really love Catholic Folk magick. I have a little sun room in my apartment with the perfect opening to see the sun, moon, and stars. I just use my art equipment and paint brushes lol
Hah, really fitting to the latest Magnolias and Magic episode and very helpful for beginners - I personally don't have either money nor enough space so the thoughts about all these tools and space like for an altar are really intimidating. Considering altars: another RUclipsr shared that those little Kallax shelves from IKEA make good altars and I really, really love the idea, since if you don't really like the thought of people knowing about you doing magic, you could always throw some books in it and pretend that it's just some little old shelf. Generally speaking I really like that 'work with what you have' approach in magic.
question/thoughts for the channel/commenters…as someone interested in Western esoterica something I find difficult to digest is that pretty much all source material is going to come from people who were deeply affected by their time’s racial prejudices. As someone who is mostly not of European descent it makes it almost impossible to get invested in researching any of these practices (however much I may feel drawn to them) because in the back of my head I’m reminded that the work is being handed down from men who often times would not have seen me as an equal human being. This is not an argumentative comment by any means it’s just something that I know is a barrier for many people.
I feel that way as well and I research them to find out and if it's that way I stay away but mostly I've figured out everything was stolen from us anyway so... 👍🏾
@@eclecticraeentruth.@alliemiranda4867 Go back to the Sumerians, Egyptians, India, First Peoples, Santeria, etc-whoever calls to you, and make up your own rituals. I don't defer to what anyone, much less rich white old dudes, has to say about how I do things. The intention matters. Shamanism is also an awesome path with rituals to satisfy your itch. I feel like One Spirit, different costumes, different energies. Best wishes. ❤❤❤
If you read Agrippa's 3 books of Occult Philosophy you can get a sense of what you can use as substitutes - this is where correspondences are first mentioned. In the UK, trying to get an actual sword for ritual work can be... problematic. I doubt the police will understand.

Well said, some good practical advice that echoes & vindicates Crowley‘s position in his work, particularly the letter “improvising a temple”: “In Mexico, D.F. for instance, I took my bedroom itself for the Circle, my night-table for the Altar, my candle for the Lamp; and I made the Weapons compact. I had a Wand eight inches long, all precious stones and enamel, to represent the Tree of Life; within, an iron tube containing quicksilver [easily obtained then. JM] -very correct, lordly, and damsilly. What a club! Also, bought, a silver-gilt Cup; for Air and Earth I made one sachet of rose-petals in yellow silk, and another in green silk packed with salt. In the wilds it was easy, agreeable and most efficacious to make a Circle, and build an altar, of stones; my Alpine Lantern served admirably for the Lamp. It did double duty when required: e.g. in partaking of the Sacrament of the Four Elements, it served for Fire. But your conditions are not so restricted as this.” 666 to Jane Wolfe, ch 23, Magick Without Tears
The above is one example among many that inspire me to laugh most Goatley when people suggest there is some kind of hard division between ceremonial magic, witchcraft, chaos magic, etc.
DIY in my case can be difficult, at least when it comes to things like sewing. I attempted a poppet, and lets just say the arms were not of equal length.
Senpai RUclips 🤣 Also your content is amazing. I’m a folk practitioner but I have the massive brick on the golden dawn just to see what some ceremonial Magick is about and perhaps spice up my craft.

I will say that as a non-Western esotericist, the idea of function over quality really irks me. Sometimes if the quality of your ritual supplies is lower, it can lead to your ritual not working, or it can even be dangerous. There are spirits that simply won't engage with low-quality supplies, and there are also spirits who get offended if they're not presented with the very best as offerings. Lower-quality materials will lead to you interacting with lower-vibrational entities, and that's a huge no-no if you're getting into spirit work. And price is many times not connected to quality--You can find high-quality items for reasonable prices, and you can also find scammers who sell low-quality items for exorbitant prices. Like you said, though, that doesn't mean that you can't improvise. I think a lot of the admonitions against low-quality ritual materials in non-Western traditions can also be interpreted as admonitions against laziness. Ultimately, the results of your spiritual work will directly reflect the amount of effort that you put into it, so you should work hard and do your best to not throw quality to the wind.
Well, as the saying goes "you do what you gotta do". And there's no reason why that shouldn't apply in magick as well. My budget isn't big, so the money is generally kept for things I can't make or remake myself, as well as the books I really want actual paper copies of. Therefore, all my tools are either DIY or repurposed items I had around that were "close enough". My temple is basically a sheeted off corner of my basement area that's big enough to afford enough room for movement and holds a chair, a small table, and and altar. The quarter banners and Enochian tablets I also made myself. Simple, inexpensive, but it works. And that's what should matter most: Does it get the job done?
At some point, Initiation requires a teacher so that the Aspirant isn't the one in control and also so that the teacher can point out the blind spots both within the student and on the literature.
Nope, all initiation is self-initiation. Unless you wanna hook up to a specific current, which you should consider carefully before having a lodge's egregore linked to your aura.
Hence the importance of Journaling, i.e. book of shadows, Magick diary. Plus shadow work but personally w/ a psychotherapist would be better; if you can afford one unfortunately. P. S. You can use the gurjiefian discipline of self observation.
I've only come across your page fairly recently, however I have heard of the "three on me" rule although I've also heard it's a primarily wiccan belief, is that rule true for other aspects of the occult?
