I went into this without reading the description so I did not know the significance of the title. Which made the feeling of dread all the more tense because I knew something was coming but I wasn't sure what. Loved this book. I loved the multiple POVs, I adored the character development (well except for one who never really changed...grr).
I just finished this and loved it! I do agree with you on the very beginning, however. I loved the writing! This was my first book by her and I loved how she doesn't make it too wordy but still gets across all of the great details! I was sad it was over and wanted more!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Since you liked this one, I strongly suggest picking up Between Shades of Grey. It's another WWII book about a Lithuanian girl and her experience being sent to Siberia. She's Joana's cousin that's mentioned in Salt to the Sea!
Hello! I need to pick a book for an English project and I'm stuck between choosing All the Light We Cannot See and Salt to the Sea. I was wondering if you could recommend which one to read because I'm so conflicted! :) (We had to choose the book based off literature that's so beautiful, you have to put down the book for a few seconds) Thank you!
Well, they will both certainly have that effect on you. Salt to the Sea is a much faster read and I felt more moved by it. All The Light We Cannot See feels more sprawling but it's a bigger read. Personally, I think I would go with Salt to the Sea.
Congrats on 13K! The list of VT communities larger than yours is growing slim. Polandbananasbooks already made a video talking about this book with this author. Would you want to make a video discussing another of Ruta's books with Ruta?
My only sure opinion about this book is that Alfred is the worst.
But also The relationship between Poet and Klaus broke me.

Eh, I'm not interested in interviewing an author. Meeting them, sure, but I don't have the skills to create a good enough interview video.
