When I was a little kid I used to just grab the sugar on top and ate it, I would leave the bread for someone else 😂😂
Same.
Dude for real!!!
I still do the same😂😂
YOOOOOO SAME
Dude I resonate with this so hard. Especially when it peels off in certain areas into larger pieces lmaooo
Am I the only that gets so satisfied when someone kneads dough?
Sooo relaxing!!!!
I prefer to knead by hand.
So?
Nah u r not the only one
No ur not people even get satisfied from looking at people shooting at innocent animals
Life hack use a tortilla press for the frosting
NONE OF UR BUSSINESS of. Purse and she didn’t even know that as a Mexican,
Plus this was a damn life story not a recipe video.
Christopher Paul lol
@@RVingTheCountry r/woosh?
@@RVingTheCountry She shows you how to make it and tells you a story smh
@@RVingTheCountry this is a recipe video
I’ve literally spent 3 hours making conchas and they look like mierda
I'm Mexican-American, and I'm trying to learn fluent Spanish, and I didn't know what 'meirda' meant, so I looked it up and said it, and when I saw the definition, my first thought was, "o no I said a naughty word."
lord forgive me, for I have sinned.
Bella Goldberg it means shit I think 😂
Name Here I am making some too! My mixture looked nothing like hers before I added the butter, it was super dry looking 🙄
LMFAO
Did anyone realise that she said “ I love concha’s because it’s part of my culture” twice one 00:01and 00:32
sunflwrr yepppp
obviously the person who made the video used that part of her conversation to us in 00:32 and put it as the beginning part because they wanted it to highlight it as the beginning of the video. if you listened to the sound of how she said it, it was identical so, the person who video taped her chose to use it twice. She didn't repeat herself twice. Even if she did say it twice, big deal.
@@spirit6896 OK???
@@spirit6896 all I did was read, listen and reply to the comment. Maybe I'm reading into her comment too much. Apologies, not trying to make it a big deal. I'm just saying also. Have a great day.
Sabrina Aguilera thank you you too
This looks like japanese melonpan.
I love when two different cultures end up with similar recipes.
Didn't the Japanese get Western style breads from the Portuguese? The country next to Spain, which is responsible for most of Latin America?
Like japanese “purin” and “flan”
Japan learned to make melon pan from the Portuguese and Mexico learned it from the Spanish
Maeiro if you want to get close to concha try looking for a snack brand called bimbo they sell conchas they are close but not close enough
@@jesussalvador8495 No, Mexico got it from the French who were the kings of bakery (just like they still are), the conchas were created during the 17th century during the arrival of French immigrants in the country. The Japanese got it from the Portuguese during the 1900's, so you can pretty much conclude that although Japanese got it from the Portuguese, the Portuguese must've got it from the Mexican diaspora in Iberia, since conchas are 100% mexican in origin.
I just loved this video. I'm an Asian-American (Indian and Japanese) who discovered conchas through 7-Eleven. Even later when I found them in Hispanic bakeries, I've never had one that looked this fresh and sumptuous. Maya's commentary was touching and very sweet. Wish you guys would make more videos like this.
Oh my god wrestling with my mexican-white heritage has been a struggle for me my entire life. Feeling like I dont fully fit in anywhere or that Im never going to be "enough" for one or the other culture has been a battle Ive fought since I learned what culture even WAS. Its so heart warming to hear another person assure everyone of mixed heritage that we DO fit in no matter what anyone else says!
I am not Mexican; I am not even a hispanic... But I do love Conchas, I do love most Mexican food ......
ME ENCANTA QUE TE REFIERAS A LA CULTURA Y TUS RAICES MEXICANAS, ESO ME LLENA DE ORGULLO, MUY BIEN POR TI Y FELICIDADES
As argentinan, i just want to say that "i love concha" too, soo much!
que asco chabon
Que onda pelotudo cuantas copas tenes?
jajaja
Me cagué cuando la piba dijo "I love conchas"
I love the way you talk about baking with intention and manifestation. 💙 Blessed be!
The icing is really crispy ? Wait I think we eat different types of conchas
If you're not from Mexico or the same place in Mexico as Maya, it's probably the case :3
She didn't use egg yolk in the frosting.
The topping is more like a baked cookie in some parts
@@mayaflici374 I'm from mexico but you are right maybe some places changed the recipe
@@electricsutando4119 my bad I have never seen conchas like that but mexico is just really freaking diverse that why I said that her type of conchas must be different that the ones that I know
what she said about being american + another culture is sooo true. It’s very easy to feel like your not enough of one or the other and it’s so nice to know i’m not alone🥺❤️
"Today I'm going to teach you how to make conchas."
Proceeds to recite an essay to prove she's Mexican.
Yea, it was cringe. It would've been suffice if she said she's Mexican-American and just proceeded to make the darn soft bread. This isn't a therapy room, woman.
If you are the seed of a cucumber, then you are a cucumber. A cucumber that grows among tomatoes is a cucumber. Thanks for sharing hermana!
Nicely put 👍
Yassss!!! Much gracias mamacita!!!! Growing up in Oregon we had authentic Mexican food and baked goods everyyyy where. But then I moved to Florida, andddd nothing. No tamales, no jumbo burritos the size of your head from a semi sketchy food truck (that’s when you know it’s goodddd) 😋. And no conchas! 😭 I could literally eat these every day with my coffee ☕️ and now I can make them myself!!! 💜💜💜💜
Her talking about reclaiming heritage and being true to your culture even in America made me tear up. Love you Maya you’re amazing 💖
Take a shot every time she says concha
Isaac Nava nah i like my liver
Mmmm very beautiful recipe! 😍 And they look very good!
I would like to see the japanese melon pan version xD Anyone else? :D
Omg I was wondering about that!!! Is there a difference between them though???
I don't think so. I guess it's the same but in different countries with different names. :o
There’s no difference it’s the same thing
@@jesussalvador8495 yep 👍
YES!!! MORE MEXICAN FOODS 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇳🇬🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Nom nom nom , I love conchas, its been a while since ive had a good one.
daidai907 that’s what she said,
FINALLY! A Conchas Recipe! WOOHOO! Can you or anybody else please do more Mexican bread/dessert recipes! Please!
My old college roommate used to make us conchas whenever we had a test or a rough week and would never share the recipe so it’s nice to have a Tasty video!
Her voice is so soothing and calming. I Love to hear her voice more than that dish. 😊
My mom would take me after school when I was really young and get some from a local bakery, it brings back great memories
I like watching videos like this because it is a very important aspect of our culture which is “pan dulce” in Spanish. My dad is a baker and I have never really asked how this is made and now that I’m seeing it with my own two eyes I am very interested in how the process came along! Very much enjoyed this video and the visuals of the baking were amazing!
Ily you guys💕💕💕i love conchas i am Mexican too!!
Super cute !!! Que bonitas se ven!!!
omg please please please do ojo de buey next!!! it's my absolute fav.
Views on the Road has these two recipes. Just FYI. I love Tasty's recipes too!!
My uncle used to be the town baker in my old home town in Mexico I still remember the smell of his bakery and the variety of sweet bread I even remember the old wood burning ovens he had
Mexican squad where you at?
No soy fan de las conchas pero en realidad se me hizo agua la boca !!!!!!!!!!♥
Man I love being Mexican 😍😍😍
"we exist in the hyphen" is such a good phrase
Where I live, there's a strong Hispanic influence and I love to go to this Mexican bakery and get conchas and biscochitos and empanadas.
Maya is adorable omg
Going to have to make these immediately! Muchas gracias, Tasty.
As a kid, I grew up living right next to the border & Texas and I never really knew the name. My grandmother just used to call it “Sweet bread “ or “Pan dulce” in Spanglish.... yes I said Spanglish it’s not misspelled. Because where I grew-up, are cultures we’re so intertwined that either you spoken with a Texas accent mixed with Spanish or vice-verse ...
Thank you Maya for this beautiful mexican sweet bread recipe for Conchas. I always wondered how they were made. You made it look so easy that I have to try.
Pocha concha for life!
I ate these all my life , and never knew what they were called until now. 🤣
hi; my family would get them and just call them "sweet bread" and being a former* San Antonian . . those were just called Mexican Pastries, no one really would say their names. . ."maybe" this is why?
I grew up near the AZ / MEX border and I would just point at the mexican bakery and say , pan Rosa. Lol
The commentary literally sounds like an essay XD
she is an esse
I am 3rd generation but also a Pocha. My family is very mixed but our culture is mainly Mexican and I’m one of their whiter kids. I grew up with my Mexican family so I got a lot of culture exposure, but I never learned Spanish fluently (only Spanglish). However, even if I am genetically more British and pale as heck, I still have native facial features that some still recognize me as Mexican.
i’m early and there’s no good comments😭
Why don't you make one?
Here’s a good one: The thumbnail looks like Thanos’ ballsacks
@@ryozo_ lmao
@@ryozo_ You are a total genius
Me encanta la cultura de Mexico
aww shes so sweet
I tried this recipe. For me, the bread wasn't sweet enough. Also, when I made the sugar topping, it was so sticky. Not sure what I did wrong 🤔
Kianna Silva same!! My conchas were actually buttery kind of like biscuits
I had the same problem. I think her measurements are off. My icing was sticky and the dough was sticky too even after sitting 2 hours. I do not recommend this recipe.
Brianna Perez Honestly me neither but you should try Claudia Regalado’s recipe. I tried the one she posted 6 months ago and they taste authentic. I loved it
I added a bit more flour. It worked!
@@saydehpena1222 Will do thank you
Uy si super ricas con cafe Maya 😍😍😍
girl you were speaking to me!! can’t wait to conquer these 😋
Qué gusto verte. Gracias por la receta. Saludos y mis mejores deseos, querida Maya.
As someone who's never had a concha - it would have been nice to get to see a cross-section of the finished product to get a sense of texture and thickness. I assume it has a regular dry/crumble cookie consistency?
Yeah, the top is very crumbly like a cookie
Hi! El Pasoen here, there are conchas in every bakery here, so I have a LOT of experience with them. They aren't like cookies, they are like.... Kinda airy bread, with a crumply sugary shell on the outside. Here I mainly see a vanilla yellow, chocolate brown, and the pink showed above. The shell sometimes doesn't have a flavor other than sugar, but most of the time they have a slight hint of their respective color.
She is like a teen who loves chipotle but Mexicano she is like omg conchas for life
her voice is so relaxing
Muchas gracias girl (i'm El Salvadoren)
I am from Belize a CA country below Mexico. Here we call them "caprichos" 🤣🤣🤣 and yes...i love them with some cafecito too!!
Maya your the best !!
Yes! Conchas! Finally!!!
Above all your positive vibes and beautiful thoughts❤️
Poncha concha gang rise up 😤
Wait she said you eat these as dessert and pretty much anytime your celebrating...girl I guess I celebrate every morning 😂
So cute. Thank you for this.
I’m never had one of these but I’d love to try it from how she describes it
It sounds like happiness
Oh, they're heaven 😋😋! Especially with coffee...
PrettyBrown Eyez now I want it even more 😖
For some reason I feel like this is the only part of her culture she really adopted lol
I just made this today for my family and it was very delicious!
Wooooah! Looks amazing! Glad to see a new video as always!
Always a Pleasure ❤
Am I early? I think so lmao I love conchas THEY ARE TO DIE FOR I mostly eat it in Christmas time so I can eat it with chocolate abuelita.

They’re okay, I mean it’s a bit too sweet for me but other than that they’re yum
Also my cousin’s nickname is concha as a shell and the bread 😂
