  • Hello everyone. Tonight I wanted to do a review of my Frederique Constant Runabout Limited edition. This is a great watch from a brand that doesn't quite get the love or respect it deserves. Please feel free to comment or drop a question, and like and subscribe if you wish to see more content from me. Thanks as always for tuning in!

Nice watch! I just ordered the GMT version from Jomashop for only $599. That one retailed for around $1,800 How do you like yours so far?

I love mine. I think the build quality is great! You found the GMT model for $599? That is one heck of deal, great purchase! This is my second experience with a FC and so far I have been impressed with the quality for price. Congrats on your purchase!

Sounds like it might need to go in for a quick regulation.

@@chriswatchreviews4752 FC service centre kept it for observation for almost 2 weeks upon my complain of poor power back up.They didn't find anything wrong. I am very upset with my first purchase of FC

@@SwopanChakroborty oh man, I am sorry to hear that. It sounds like you got a badly designed watch that somehow made it through FC quality control. I haven't heard of that happening too often with that brand. Really sorry to hear that

@@chriswatchreviews4752 their quality control also suggested that I should wound it except normal use. What a joke for an automatic watch!

The Runabout chronograph version, with the boat, would that be a good present for my dad's 80th birthday? He loves boats and owned many through the years. He even owned/restored/saved the country's oldest wood motor boat. He has very large wrists though, but I'm thinking he could always have it as a showcase or collector's item if he thinks it looks too feminine on his wrist size-wize. My first thought was the 44mm Hamilton Khaki Navy Pioneer chronograph, but the box it comes in is very plain compared to this one. I would appreciate your opinions.

Hi! Yea, I think this would make a great birthday present for a boat lover like your dad. Even with large wrists, I think your dad could pull this watch off. I don't think it would look dainty or anything like that. It wears about the same size as my 42.5 Laco Bremerhaven. I have 6 3/4 inch wrists, so you could use that as a starting point in terms of whether or not you would think its too small for your dad. Good luck with your search, and happy birthday to your pops!

@@chriswatchreviews4752 Thanks. I have 8" wrists and I'm 6'3" so I have pretty large hands too. My father is the exact same height, but the difference is that he has thicker wrists and also thicker hands than me. Then again, his wrists are very round compared to mine, so the difference in width probably isn't more than 1/3 inch. But in circumference, I think his wrists could be as large as 9 1/2 inches(!)

@@viperracing2889 wow, those are some large wrists. Hmmm, maybe you would want to look for a larger watch then, maybe something around the 44-45mm range. Maybe something like the Hamilton Murph? That is only 42 in diameter, but the lug to lug is 52. I love the Murph, but that lug to lug distance is too large for my wrists. Might be something to take a look at. One thing I have learned in my 3 years of collecting watches is that the lug to lug distance is usually more important than the diameter, because that will determine how much the watch hangs over the wrists. Thanks!
