Hey Steve, thanks for the tutorial. You're not going to believe this. My wife has tried several times to get a layered bob but nobody seems to know how to do it right. She found your video and we were amazed. We tried to explain it to the stylist but they still didn't get it. After the last one, I jokingly told her I could do better than that. With all her frustrating experiences, she said go for it. I know it sounds crazy, but I tried it. I watched the video several times, then watched each segment as I did it. It took about an hour and a half, but it turned out fantastic. I was so amazed. Your instructions were so easy to follow. I just did what you said. Funny, as I was doing it, I kept saying to myself, wow this is working just like in the video. My wife thinks I'm some super hero now. She is happier than ever. If she's happy, I'm happy. Thanks a bunch!

Thank You! Thank u for these videos i have gone to two different beauty schools and have a sister who is a stylist and none had the patience you have in ur videos. Every question i had u answered while u were talking through ur videos. Ur videos also show how to cut black hair also because a lot of black women wear there hair shaved down with the clippers so thank u so much. I really have learned a lot and thank u for taking time out for this because u definetly did not have too.

I bobbed my hair like this all through jr high to jr year in high school.... I also had big chunky blonde highlights in it... and it was beautiful... I never got so many compliments on my hair, as I did from this cut. I still part my hair to the side because of how I wore it.... and it's like a dab of texture/shine cream, and five minutes with a blow dryer and round brush... and it was styled!

Very nice cut. But it seems like the initial guide you established in the nape informs the length of all the proceeding sections making for layers the client may not want. I still need to know how to do an angled layered bob where I'm in complete control of how much layering & movement is being established while not disturbing my bob line.

Fascinating. Good style for fine, poker straight hair like mine. I've had my hair cut in this style for the past 15 years, with a bit more graduation at the back, and I've never seen how the hairdresser does it. But, my hairdresser never blow dries it well and, lately, finishes off with ceramic straighteners so I leave the salon with it looking too flat. First thing I do when I get home is to blow dry it again!

Dude if he'd have been cutting a 'real person' I'm sure it would have been a little more meticulous lol.

The most common mistake with that haircut is gapping behind the ear which he clearly did especially on the left side. I believe he made this mistake when he went back to check his work. He did not over direct the hair back. You do not want your client to be walking around with gaps behind her ears. For me, it was the hardest haircut to master. I find the best way to avoid those gaps behind the ear is to over direct those corners towards the center of the nape. Sometimes it may look like it's too heavy and you want to go back over it again but I would suggest styling first then going back to that area and cross checking to avoid take off too much. A lot of times once you style it, it's fine or you may a slight corner to take off. Never pull those corners behind the ear at a 90 degree angle straight out the side because then you remove to much weight. I hope this helps people really trying to learn.

Yes I saw that too.. the holes behind the ears, I know it is more difficult on a mannequin. I did like the way he angled just with a comb on the sides. My clients want that arc in the neckline. and longer layers above the occipital bone. I find this hair cut the most difficult one to do, and I am in a salon where we are supposed to do it fast.. not going to happen.

+Lmnny Nny it's just a layered bob not an inverted bob. I thought the haircut was great except for the gaps behind the ears. It is very informative for those trying grasp the concept of the cut and decrease their cutting time. My intentions weren't to down his work but only constructive criticism and for the knowledge of others who watch this video
