Love the socks! AND LOVE the angle of the camera in this video. It makes a huge difference being able to actually see what you're doing. Thanks for changing that!
I had several nice T-shirts that I was tired of wearing, so I made a pair of socks out of each T-shirt. They are so cute! It was fun to see these garments turn into socks. You might want to try it!
“Don’t mind those cords, pretend it doesn’t exist” 😂😂 I recently started sewing and you have been one that fits my aesthetic. So thank you for your videos and existing ❤️
Thank you for this video and the free pattern! I'm not a "sock person", but the idea that people could SEW socks was so amazing to me that I made 7 pairs in a week😂! I'm going to start wearing socks sometimes now. I had 1 issue with the fit, though. The seam ends up under the back of my heel and stepping on it bothers me sometimes. Would making the sole a little longer help the seam to be behind my heel instead of under it? I'm between sizes so I think that's why it fits like this. I haven tried sizing up yet. Maybe i should. I just thought it might be too long if i do that, but I'm willing to try. Also, you mentioned donating these. Where would they accept these types of home-made socks? I just used my sewing machine and the socks have the raw edges inside. I know they won't fray so I prefer that to a serger seam because i think I'd feel the heel seam more if it was serged. I just don't know if the donation places would accept homemade looking socks like mine. Maybe a shelter instead of a thrift store would accept them? Thanks again!
I rarely wear socks because I get too hot. But, I think I will try this pattern and I can use the fabric from my summer sewing to make socks that are perfect for me. Thank you 😊
I love the New set up, to see more when youre sewing on your serger. Im getting my first serger, as a birthday gift to myself in april. And it helpes alot to see better what youre doing! Love it!😍
Hey DIANA thank you for this great tutorial I can’t wait to make some socks and share them! Also I think you got a new camera or you moved it or something it sounds better and I’m so glad that we can see your actual stitching now Way to go
I think fleece and cotton together should be the best option. Inside you sew the fleece fabric and on the outside there's cotton. I'm going to try to make a pair myself for my son 😊
Dear Diana Such a blessing. THANK YOU for sharing! I have a Question: if I need a bit smaller size than the 9-10, could I run a deeper seam around the bottom after its all put together? I'm not a good designer, so not sure I'm figuring this soundly 😶
These look super cute and super simple -- but how do you recommend modifying for someone whose calves are quite large? (I usually have a problem with sock bands cutting into my calves regardless of how far up my leg they go).
I just made these socks five minutes ago. They fit perfectly on my foot but I didn’t bother finishing the band because it was very tight on my leg. This was my first ever sewing pattern I enjoyed it but sad I can’t wear them.
Love this, thank you! I’m getting my first serger at Xmas…..which would you recommend? A tutorial would be great as I see in the comments others are buying their first too. I’ve been trying to do your racer back t with built in bra….thought I’d be putting built in shelf bras in everything but all my (sewing) machine wants to do is eat it! I’ve bought and tried every combination of tape/needles/thread/interfacing etc so next comes the serger!
What a great way to use up all those scraps! Thank you! What's the method you used to cut the thread when you're done with serging? I noticed you kinda pulled the thread chain towards your right and that cuts it?
Tina C I cut it with the serger knife 😉 sometimes I do that way but you have to be careful that you are far enough out that you don’t accidentally cut the fabric
Do'es anyone have any recommendations for what type of fabric would be best for these socks? I'm not familiar with stretch fabrics as I always use cotton for crafts.
I have made these in rib knit, and cotton lycra blends as well as double brushed poly. I think it depends on what kind of sock you want. If you want something thicker I would look into some cozy sweater knit but something lighter. the mentioned above would work.
I haven't made them for anyone sensitive. I'd say, make a pair and try them out. I don't actually mind the seams but I know some people are very sensitive. they are such an easy and quick project its worth trying them out. you could also wear them inside out. ❤️

Looks very easy. It's winter I want to make my grand child fleece socks.thank you so much will try it.❤
You’re welcome. Check the stretch percentage of your fleece to ensure it will fit well. You may have to size up if the stretch is less. Happy sewing 🧵

Hello I love your tutorial and can't seem to locate the pattern on your website. Any clues where I can find it? ;-) Thank you!
Hi! Our free patterns are located here - www.ellieandmac.com/collections/weekly-sale-and-free-patterns
I love the socks. What pattern I’d your pretty dress? Where did you get the pretty fabric? Very nice!
How much fabric is needed for the socks
Will it work well even if you don't have a serger
Love this! What shirt are you wearing?
Dranma51 thanks, I’m wearing the 90s Dress ❤️
beauty..
Thank you so much!

Thanks for making this I loose socks all the time so this will be well used XD
Definitely a step in the right direction haha 👣
How do I print this to the right dimensions? It was much smaller when I did it ?
yeah, I just tried to use the printer and print the pattern but it was way to small... i tried to adjust the settings and it just wouldn't work?
Is the pattern suitable to adjust the length to a knee high ?
I haven't made any socks however I have a question. Does the seam bother the toes? If you made them for someone sensitive to seams, how did the react?
I haven't made them for anyone sensitive. I'd say, make a pair and try them out. I don't actually mind the seams but I know some people are very sensitive. they are such an easy and quick project its worth trying them out. you could also wear them inside out. ❤️
