  • Servicing your Brembo calipers at regular intervals ensures that you're getting the most out of your braking system. Clean caliper pistons, piston bore, and seals will allow your pistons to travel freely and in unison, giving you symmetry in your braking system and reducing brake drag.
    Watch Paul at Lyndall Brakes explain how he services monobloc calipers for sponsored Harley & MotoAmerica rider John Trujillo

    This was extremely helpful! I will use this procedure to remove internals on my new M50s before I blast them to powdercoat or cerakote them black. Brembo refuses to sell them that way stock- and Im not buying 1300$ cafe racer models for my custom bike build. Ill mask the cylinder areas with rubber plugs and kapiton masks before blasting. After they're blasted, Ill clean ultrasonically and have them coated & baked. Last Ill fill in the letters red with engine enamel. Ill use new seals throughout before reassembly

    The Metal spring plate at the top is not necessary? The pads have some good amount of play without them

    Best video for rebuilding calipers! Please create more.
    For rebuilding calipers, should it be based on time or usage? Should it be done yearly or can it go like 25k miles for monobloc calipers?

    • @lyndallbrakes
      @lyndallbrakes  5 месяцев назад

      depends on different factors such as, which brake pads you're using and how much dust they produce. We usually test piston movement by removing one caliper at a time from the fork, then pumping the brakes to exercise caliper pistons and inspect the rate at which they compress. All four pistons should travel in unison and pads should meet in the middle of the caliper. If not, clean pistons and repeat process until they do, replacing seals as necessary.

    I hope this isnt a daft Q but does it matter which way round the seals go in as i thought you said at 6.15 they are not round and have leading and trailing side ? but on inspection on my M50 seals both edges look the same

    Hi ! I need some help on this caliper :) I'm french, sorry for the vocabulary
    I did everything like you, and, i have to check up the drain valve. So, I remove the cap, and i unscrew it. I screw it, and i did the bleeding procedure. Pressure is okay, but each drain valve have a little sweating (not by the hole/neck, by the screw thread).
    I do not understand. There is no seal around there no ?

    not only dust seal but also piston should be changed??

    • @Sperperone

      You should check them for any sign of wear, scratch. First indicator are the brake pads, if they wear evenly, the caliper pistons are fine, if the brake pads looks like a slice of salami, chances are you have a one or more pistons to change

    What about the spring retainer to hold the pads.

    • @lyndallbrakes
      @lyndallbrakes  5 месяцев назад +2

      we find that they are not necessary, as the body of the caliper traps the pads in place. They simply serve as a vibration dampener to reduce noise. We have done many track days with them and many without and have not noticed any difference in performance

      @@lyndallbrakesIv found that when the heat builds after a session on track, the springs seems to expand and bind the pads to the disc a fair bit.
      Taking the springs out rectifies it. Is it normal for the springs to cause binding like this in these calipers?

    Shitty method with the piston removal. I always stick something in the middle that passes trough the disc cutout and then two thicker plastic pieces, and boom, all 4 will move and none will fall out. ;)
