Letβs try on all of my skirts, as we continue this closet clear out! Help me decide using the wisdom of Marie Kondo and personal style theories if these pieces should be a keep or donate or sell, and create a more streamlined wardrobe - not that weβre aiming for a capsule minimalist wardrobe, but definitely a more curated and feminine style wardrobe for sure!

Satisfying to see a decluttering with angst, stories and feelings because that is always my mindset when I attempt that process and I perpetually think, "it's just me". The only thing that I had opposite feelings for (aka it is a keeper) the longer black silk skirt. I would shorten it, not to mini, but maybe 2-ish inches? With accessories, there are so many looks it can fulfill.
Keep those long skirts (unless you donβt like one of the colors), you got them for a reason and I think youβll find a way to wear them. When youβve finished decluttering.
It seems to me like you're in your slinky mini skirt era (compared to the stiffer flared skirts) and they do sit amazing on youβ¨ I love the long pastel skirts with the slit, gorgeous. my vote's for storage and re-evaluation during the next pass? So excited for the results of your wardrobe declutter, please keep us updated how you go and feel about itπ©·
I actually really love the analysis. It's giving woman in stem in the best way - it appeals both to the ou shiny aesthetics brain and the technical data rat brain. Keep being you lucy β€ it's one of the reasons I watch you in a sea of clothes content
Iβm team keep the long pastel slit skirts. Perhaps you could revisit the maybes at the end of your declutter and see how you feel then?
Keep the long pastel skirts! They are so nice on you.
However I might be biased cause I love colours and pastels π
Do whatever you wish but personally I think you look SO AMAZING in those pastel skirts at the end like the fit???? The colour? The whole ~essence~ of the skirt on you? Is giving very much wawaweewahπ³ and elegant/cute at the same timeπ«Άπ«Ά
I completely understand that feeling of not feeling like yourself in certain clothes. I used to love kawaii/larme kei fashion too (ank rouge and liz lisa!) and still do, but I feel this strange dissonance in myself when I dress in the style - it's not 'me'. Nowadays, I enjoy dressing in a more muted, mature and feminine style and just adding kawaii accessories without going the full way, feels less like a costume. ^.^ Love the videos!
(also lol have the same issue with hips filling out a skirt too much rip A-lines with no give)
larme / hime styles are so cute and I still appreciate them but now I take what I love about them but leave what doesn't work! It's hard initially to pull all the elements apart though haha π
I'm also noticing a style evolution happening with me right now
I like both black skirts. I would keep both since for everyday wear I think looser skirts are easier and more comfortable to wear.
With the long skirts i think personaly you should keep the blue and green one and maybe say bye to the pink version because you have a other piece that is semi the same and how you talked about it liked more(?) But do what makes you happy!
always a pleasure to see her
I like the long skirts and think you should keep them a little longer. I think give them more attention and try to style it with what you have, like just do some dress up for fun. I feel like they can fit your aesthetic. I like to Pinterest outfits too to give me inspo
I think the problem with the other skirts is that first the A line and fitted looks best on you because you have hips (like me). Whereas any additional fabric will exaggerate it. Once you add a graphic component with pleated skirts it just highlights more the hips which then will make the proportions unbalanced. So I think thatβs why you prefer the a line skirts overall. With an A line skirt you can then get away with graphics because all itβs doing is accentuating your shape in a flattering way. At least with myself, I notice Iβm not scared of patterns but i donβt like too much contrast with the colors. I wonder if that was some of the problem with the plaid skirts you showed.
You're making me wanna go through my closet because I KNOW there are items that I've kept hoping I wear or because I wore them a lot at one point but never do now. πΆβπ«
In Argentina is also quite common to wear white in Christmas, but mainly New Year's. Might be a southern hemisphere situation?
You look cute in cute mini skirts with a slight aline, and sophisticated in the white matching set with longline clinging skirt. The plaid mini kilts are too boxy, stiff and geometric patterned. Better on stronger yang types like Flamboyant Naturals and Pure Dramatics. The denim midi mermaid shaped skirt is a bit stiff but it's not bad either and trends are fun:)
Maybe keep one long knit skirt that you like best and get rid of the others. That way you get to give the style one more chance while still making room in your wardrobe.
I would keep two midi skirts in the colours you like best (of the 4 you were unsure about), and pair them with tanktop and cardigan in winter!
I actually took this advice hehe, I'm keeping the two I wear the most to see if I get more wear out of them, and decluttering the others π
The "Love it from the mannequin" to "mmm something doesn't quite translates on my body" pipeline it's so real. I think just a few people are considered for mannequin styling, so I've never got the idea of dressing the same as the manequinn or online styling photos.
If the piece doesn't make you feel good, even if it gets on, then it's a no for me. It may *get on* but that's not the same as it fitting.
Great video! All the skirts are soooo pretty and the Miu Miu one is to die for π«
Yeah I've never really felt the need to replicate a mannequin outfit bc mannequins are.... very mannequin-y haha but it's tough sometimes trying to imagine what a piece on an online model may look like on a different size / shape π
KEEP THE SKIRTS. Things that work for our unique bodies will always be useful, even if they aren't trendy at the moment.
I would keep the long skirts. Theyre good for capsule wardrobes, same with the black skirts
Always looking forward to your declutter videos !
Awww yay! We're almost there π«‘ππ©
I definitely think you should keep the colorful knit long skirts. I think youβve exhausted yourself in styling them and just need a break so you can get some fresh ideas. I think youβd regret letting them all go.
I learnt that I used to shop for my βfantasy selfβ who I wanted to be or how I wanted people to see me. But in everyday life I realised some of the clothes were impractical and I wasnβt reaching for them. Iβve got to a point in my life now where I still shop for my fantasy self but Iβm very picky on the types of clothes I buy and wether they are practical in my everyday life, especially since I live in the U.K. and the weather can be quite cold and rainy.
Omg I had a whole section about this that I cut out because I didn't feel I articulated the point haha but yes! Who we'd like to be vs who we are and that space between and why it's there is so important when it comes to style π Aspirational style is great but if you never wear it because it doesn't click with you then π€·ββοΈ
Hello Lucy! Great video! The skirts are all pretty in their own way. I like to watch declutter videos it kinda helps me to declutter my own wardrobes (Yes, I have several due to a lot of space. That can also get problematic even tough I trift most of the clothes.) I'm looking forward to the next one as I am also more of a dress woman. π
I had a midi chambray skirt just like that in the 80's! Super cute!
I would get rid of the bright pink knit and keep the pastel ones! I think you'll be able to style them much better in winter with cardigans but maybe if next winter you don't wear them then get rid of them :)
third skirt definitely nicer than second!
A gradual style shift is almost harder than a distinct definite style change because once you recognise the change, it feels so sudden and confusing.
oooh such an interesting point! Yeah my still has definitely changed but it's not a complete 180, just a side step which makes it a lil tricky haha π
Okay, i also feel the difference between the very pastel pleated skirt and the pastel blue mini has to do with hue or vibrancy or lack of vibrency from the pleated skirt. Or maybe the pink is slightly off compared to the rest of the pinks i could see in the closet
Love this de-clutter video!! β¨ I think you should keep your long skirts - I think there are ways you can incorporate them into your wardrobe/give them new life π₯° maybe style with a tall boot? Great video as always, Lucy!!
Oooh good idea! Yes I'm keeping a couple of them hehe ππ So excited to finish the declutter, thank you bb π
"summery" and "christmas" in the same sentence always confuses me at first lol
Yesss drape
love a drape π©π
I keep trying to find a nice long denim skirt, but they are all boxy and almost A line, and they look TERRIBLE on me. So I'm also on the hunt for a more form fitting one like yours ππ»π but also in black because that's more me lol
Everybody who comments on decluttering videos always wants the creator to keep everything they're on the fence about :/
Regardless, I love watching these! Just don't let the internet talk you into keeping things you're done with, though lol. Somebody else can love it instead.
If you don't at least keep that blue long split skirt, I will cry. It looks so good on you! T_T
I would keep all 3 black skirts π also, I while the plaid skit was cute, I think I could see your Γ€ss in the mirror π
Just realised my notifications were off because I was in hospital until yesterday evening. Whoops.
You look so much like a kibbe romantic to me. You have curvy and soft body and face, that's why boxy silhouettes don't work well for you and drapey delicate materials like silk look so good on you. I'm no expert on kibbe body shape tho
haha that's the one I initially clicked with but the deeper into the rabbit hole the more doubt you have π
Keep the blue and pink long skirts, just donβt keep all the colors.
I hate the long denim skirt trend. Might just be the millennial in me, but I feel like it makes everyone look frumpy and uncomfortable >_
man i need that black skirt but broke-college-girl-trying-to-study-abroad-core is screaming no
Keep those long skirts (unless you donβt like one of the colors), you got them for a reason and I think youβll find a way to wear them. When youβve finished decluttering.
