    Keith,
It might be completely against your values to not advertise in every video - but I'm sure the audience here understands the use of ads if you do need to advertise more.
Personally, I would have no problem if I saw more ads on the channel - if it meant you being able to create the content YOU want to make, and the audience wants to see.
You're one of the few channels that I get genuinely excited by seeing a new video, a few extra ads in videos won't change that. Keep up the entertaining content mate!!!
Also, a big congratulations on the baby - hope you are all doing well.

I would highly disagree. I think this entire online industry whoooring itself out to any sponsor is what is making the viewership drop. I know its why I watch less and less videos overall in this area. Everything turns into one big marketing channel eventually. I think the integrity of the channel is much more important....otherwise just throw in the towel and be like everyone else. Up to him.

I watch your videos religiously Keith, you're one of the few youtubers that cover all the bases - woodworking, home repairs, quick/cheap fixes and custom made furniture. You do it all with complete transparency. Definitely take on sponsors you need to pay the bills and be rewarded for your hard work. Thank you for all the great content and congrats on the birth of your baby boy 🎉

If it is revenue positive, why not ask your loyal fans to not skip the ads? You’re worth it…

It's a perfect storm, just at a time when people would be looking at DIY ideas to cost save, materials are ridiculously expensive, especially things like wood. Where as before I just used to mess around trying things because wood was cheap now I'm really cautious and the first try has to be the final try. Such a shame about birch ply, I had loads of projects in mind with that in mind that I've had to can.

Hi Keith, very many congratulations on baby Brown. I hope that you’re all well.
I’ve watched this video and thought I’d share a point of view that might grate, but it’s my honest observation.
You said that subscriptions are down. It is my opinion that this may be because your channel has evolved, a natural progression, but has changed direction from its beginnings. Your previous content involved restoration work (the origin of the name of the channel?) and small to medium sized projects. This more recently is not the case and you aren’t alone in this. Your channel has become “Keith Does Up His Home”. Again, nothing wrong with this but if like me you were in at the start because of the content of the channel and this has now changed direction, why subscribe? Andy Mac’s channel, Gosforth Handyman has gone the same way. From helpful tips, quick fixes and general how-to’s to “look at my house”.
I also would not have expected Rag ‘N’ Bone Brown to be showcasing premium tools. There’s quite a paradox in running a series of videos with a budget theme to them and then comparing two sanders which a quick search of Amazon shows to be between £500-700 each! Upcoming videos on how you’re swapping around your workshop? My workshop resembles yours in as much as it’s got 4 walls, a roof and it’s where I do stuff. I won’t be waiting on these videos because the chances of me learning anything, let alone having a go to similarly implement the same changes are nonexistent. If the tool you’re getting rid of is what I think it is I have no doubt that you’ll get by without it using your other machinery. However that self same tool is a mainstay of many workshops around the world.
I realise that you’re pretty much ‘all-in’ as a RUclipsr for your job, but what you put out as YT content may no longer be what your one-time subscribers are looking at for entertainment or education. The subscriptions will only come if you’re making the content that people want.

    • @RagnBoneBrown
      @RagnBoneBrown  Год назад

I understand you're upset that my content has changed but surely you appreciate that from my perspective after making 480 videos, I might get a bit bored of doing the same thing over and over and over again? Do you want me to pick projects that I have lost interest in? Or wouldn't you think it would be better content if I did the things that I wanted to do? Besides, my last restoration video got about 27k views, my last " Keith does up his home" videos consistently get 100k or more. Appreciate your views, but I think I know best what is best for my channel. Thanks, Keith

Congratulations both 😁. Meant to say in the previous video on the sanders I have the 3M and I use a pad saver although my pad saver is a 3M one with a different hole layout than a more universal one and no issues with sound or vibration though it does slightly jerk on start up and run on a little

Congratulations! It’s tough times right now and everyone is working more with less time to watch their favorite videos. If you need a sponsor for now, I think that’s fine. Growing families need reliable revenue.

Congrats again mate. Glad you - all 3 - are doing well. Funny that whatever is happening to RUclips is happening to you too. I thought bigger, regular uploading channels like yours might be more insulated from it. My channel is effectively dead. Not exactly inspiring me to make any more content. Hope its just some glitch after some changes and it picks up for yoy though👍

I'm sorry to hear that mate, it's so hard to keep churning them out and as soon as you stop, things plummet 🙄 and all the while RUclips is encouraging it's creators to take a break to avoid burnout! 👍

Sorry to hear your stats are going down, just when you need them going up !! Your channel is brilliant , I've followed you for years, always amazed at quality of your work. You should have greater numbers . You & Scott Brown (NZ) are my favourite builders, both masters of your craft & both have good onscreen presence, you know how to create & present good video quality! No " off the cuff drivel " that floods RUclips!
Congratulations on the delivery of Baby Brown, sorry i missed the previous blog/vlog. Time for a Crib build!!
Massive soakaway!! Is that for your roof rainwater or your taps/bath drainage?

Thank you John! The soakaway is for roof rainwater. We are starting it tomorrow

Whilst I am not a fan of adverts, my theory is as long as you are not recommending the sponsor product on the product review video then I personally don't have a problem, where I tend to skip videos is where the sponsor's product is being reviewed as you cannot tell if the review is genuine or not. I hope that this makes sense

I am VERY skeptical the Mirka was designed for end-user balancing. I suspect if you start adding or subtracting weights you'll significantly accelerate the death of your sander.

The collaboration with one of your fav youtube channels... I wonder who that might be! either Mr. Beast or Proper DIY surely. One of the two. Probably the former! Congrats for the baby! :D

Great channel and the cat related videos are brilliant 👏🏻
A thought… could you create a bunch more plans for things (anything you’d make yourself) to make a passive income? Is there a way you could do videos of you making each plan, but using tools from sponsors that you previously turned down? Another idea: Could you collaborate with other carpentry or DIY RUclipsrs to create a single online shop for plans, where the willing creator gets a cut of the sale (a bit like a Spotify model, but a lot more rewarding)? Your platform has presence so I’m just wondering if there’s additional ways you could use it to your financial advantage. Congrats with the little one too (good idea re blurring his face). Cheers 👍🏻

Congratulations, glad all is going well at home. As for the channel, it must be frustrating to see numbers and revenue dipping in spite of consistent quality. Take the sponsors if you can get them, if it keeps the show running then why not? We’ve all got bills to pay!
I’ll miss your oil wax finish though, I will say. Great call on Daisy tempests channel as well, she’s awesome.

Sponsors are a great idea Keith! It's an easy way people can support you if patreon isn't an option. Also, thank you for the nice update on the family! I'm totally the same with keeping my kids off social media. Btw beech is good for kids' toys cos it's antibacterial. Just saying!

Not being able to use a pad saver is a big negative IMO. I only have a cheap blue bosch sander and I never use it without a pad saver. I ruined it once, I'm not using it without a pad saver again.
