Here from Colin……. glad I wandered over. I’ve always harboured a wish to build a 20/80% subterranean house…….. 80% below on two levels, with 20% of quaintness above, surrounded by grass and gardens……. 🎉🙂🇬🇧

Thankyou for the nice comment, I think Colin’s editing is better than mine but I’m working on that, I am doing monthly videos on this project till it’s finished and also showing other creations I am doing. Yes so far self funded completely but am doing the tunnel as I have always wanted to anyway so will be a bonus if I eventually get a bit of money back as well 😁

My only critique is to improve speaker quality as it was pretty difficult to understand you and I had to turn the volume way up. This is awesome! I'm sure it can be done here in the US but our soil sub structure is much different!
It’s also different in most of the Uk, its rare to be all gravel like it is here

Did you do any reinforcing to the sides of the container before burying? Even some box tubing horizontal? And waterproof coating?
I'm only in Peterborough if you ever want an extra pair of hands for the tunnel digging progression :)

Sorry I missed the second part of your question 😀yes the container is braced with 6x3 timbers to stop it imploding, and it is covered in a water proof sheet and bitumen painted 😀

How much soil is on yo of it?
The bunker roof is about 2ft down but actual soil is about 1 foot
Do you need planning permission for things like this?
Probably but I think it’s been there long enough now to be exempt
