Sharply and imaginatively written. Crisp, adroit. Well deserving of it's recognition. Adventurous and yet still accessible and highly communicative. New subscriber. Glad I found this work. What this work has that so much contemporary music lacks is the clearly organic flow of ideas; this is music that was carefully heard in that inner ear and deftly crafted...this is not schematic planned music where formal design and timbre or technique dictates everything. The subconcious is the wellspring of art and that is how original work is born and how that feeling of inevitability emerges. Bravo!
I like this quartet a lot. It's both listenable and playable, and manages to convey originality in a crowded genre. The writing is also very tight: I particularly enjoyed the way the theme from the fugue at the beginning is carried throughout the quartet, and especially the way the writing sways between dissonance and consonance while retaining its tonal center. It's not afraid to be playful though its weight is never compromised by the humor. And I love the folk songs woven in throughout. Overall, it reminds me a lot of some of Shostakovich's more lighthearted quartets. I did find some of the 20th-century fingering and bowing tactics distracting: I think the quartet is strong enough at is core to dispense with some of them. And I'd love to hear the viola sonata.
Slightly unrelated but whats the most beautiful piece youve heard this month or even this year And then whats the most relentless, driving piece youve heard this month
Really interesting piece! Love the energy -- the glissandi, aggressive articulations, and rhythmic drive honestly remind me of Piazzolla at some points

Derek... trying to view in mind the attack on the antepenultimate bar...! (There is some live presentation -- audio and video/image -- of this quartet? (You had a great inspiration for the strings!!)
amazing
Excellent!

Wow, so incredibly energetic. I love the opening, felt surprised by how two violins could create such a thick layer of sound :0
