Humility is for maids, learn that. Pageants are for Queens and Divas. Humility is the reason Venus Raj shattered onstage the night they already agreed to crown her. She was too Humble. She spoke like a servant or a chamber maid. She was so humble, she felt so unworthy to be in the top 5, so failed to stay focused. She kept calling the famous judge as Sir. Yes, sir, Thank you Sir. Sir, may I take your order sir. The judge was annoyed. The moral lesson is to stop forcing these girls to be meek. She will go to Mexico to beat Queens and not do the laundry for Miss Colombia or give foot massages to Miss Norway and Miss New Zealand. .

I TOTALLY AGREE with you. We are sending a VERY NATURAL NON-PAGEANT PATTY type of girl. Even her catwalk or pasarela is NOT PAGEANT PATTY. We are seeing a non-pageant patty type of girl who exudes ELEGANCE, GRACE, POISE and ROYAL BEARING. It's like bringing the OLDEN DAY MU QUEEN vibe if you know what I mean. She has this aura of the QUEENS of the 70s and 80s.
Chelsea Manalo is a gorgeous role model for all the dark-skinned pinays to stop bleaching their skin and embrace their color.

Philippines still has LOTS of black Filipinas just waiting to be given the chance to win and represent the country to international pageants. If you watch the provincial and regional pageants in the Philippines there are sooo many Black Filipinas who join beauty pageants. In fact in this year's MUPh 2024 alone there are 4 girls (Iloilo, Mandaue, Florida, Bulacan) who have black background.

Honestly Chelsea is totally a representation of true Filipina. If you can check Filipino heritage from early years before spanish and japanese colonized Philippines, our ancestor are color is black with curly hair. Called as “negritos”.

In response to ronald, there is really no true Filipina color.
Our Constitution clearly says that halfies or children whose parents are foreigner + filipino are recognized as Filipino citizens even if the children are born outside the country.
This law resulted to multi cultural and inter-marriage. Now, a Filipino could look like caucasian, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Malay, Black, etc are Filipinos.

First of all, who are we kidding? MUPH org has the major say who’s going to win the crown, I don’t believe they solely put that decision to their chosen set of judges. These people succeeded in training Filipina girls, sent them to international pageants, and proved their eye of picking girls with that ‘beauty queen potentials’.
My theory is that, Chelsea of Bulacan is MUPH org’s rebellion or retraction from the Catriona Gray Effect in Miss Universe and pageant industry in general. After Catriona of Philippines’ win in 2018, pageant fans, analysts, and candidates mostly emulate her as she ‘set the bar high’, their words not mine (but no hate). And if you do not know, Catriona and people behind MUPH organization had (or still have) a beef because Catriona was their talent but became an independent candidate in 2018, removing herself from these people so that she could ‘exercise her creativity and freely give her inputs’.
MUPH organization in 2024 I believe is taking back the glorious ‘Venus Raj and Janine Tugonon’ era in 2010 and 2012 wherein they put their faith on these girls who ‘did not meet the Philippine beauty standards’. Chelsea (just like Venus Raj) is someone exotic, dark-skinned, elegant, queenly, humble, has a good back story, and most of all… REGAL. And Chelsea (just like Janine) is confident, powerful on stage, and not a crowd favorite, an ‘UNEXPECTED WIN’ (LOTS OF BASHERS).
My take on this?-BRILLIANT MOVE by MUPH org. Kind of funny (yet entertaining), this is like a slap to the face of pageant fans and analysts who all fronted Ahtisa and even Alexie on the limelight. The org proved them wrong about their expected winners. Lastly, it has been 12 years since a darker-skinned or black woman grabbed the crown (Leila of Angola). I feel like the MUPH gambles on Chelsea, thinking that it is about time for another ‘colored’ candidate to win the MU crown… and it is going to be her. I am rooting for this girl, it is about time to MOVE ON from the slutty gowns with the same damn cuts, orchestrated and unnecessary movements and facial expressions on stage, overconfidence, and overhyping (toxic pageant subscribers). This girl is a force to be reckoned with for the other MU delegates. Watch out, there’s a high chance she might nail it in Mexico City (if the people in MUPH org is right all along).

FYI, the original representative from Quezon City was also a half black-Filipina. Her name was Ojima, remember her? She competed against that 69-year old lady? Unfortunately she withdrew from the pageant after like two weeks of reign due to some mental health issues. OJIMA was also a very good speaker and tall but not as stunning as Chelsea.
