This is a good resort for the right price. Was at the Riviera in Dec 2023. Both the Riviera and Sunset are the same so book whatever is cheaper (2 resorts in 1 and you share amenities).
Bring water shoes if you like to go in the ocean.
Get to the beach early if you can to get a good location closer to the water. The further back your chair from the water, the less you get to see but plenty of shade.
If you don't like to walk too much, try and get your room either close to the beach or close to the lobby. There is a shuttle that runs near the lobby to the beach and it is easier to get a ride if you are taking it from the lobby or the beach.
There are 2 main buffets near the front of the building and one or the other is always open from 6am-4pm I believe so you don't have to worry about getting there at a specific time to eat.
I would eat one breakfast at 7:30am and then get in a second breakfast at 11:30am. =)
A lot of pool areas which can be loud or quiet depending on what you like.
Take cold/flu medication with you just in case. I got sick on day 3 and was sick the rest of the trip which sucks but tylenol cold and flu helped. There seemed to be a lot of people sick and coughing at the resort.
There is a shuttle to Playa del Carmen which is $4 USD each way. Just ask someone at the resort where you can see the times and where to catch it.

It really is! There is something for everyone. I personally loved walking every day and there is quite a distance to or there is a shuttle 24 hours if you require. I loved over indulging at the restaurants/buffets too 😊
We loved this resort! Thank you for showing the beach as we are planning another trip and was concerned about the seaweed. Looks like it wasn’t a problem!
Loved the dancing in the mirror! Trying to decide maya or cancun. I feel like i may miss the beautiful beaches in cancun, but this resort looks awesome with all the wildlife. Ugh decisions!

How far was the beach from the resort, and was the beach rocky?
How tips works pesos or us and how much you give for drink or service room etc... Thanks
This was also my question as I wasn't sure but found that tourists tipped in US dollars but the currency is pesos and is accepted also. It really all depends on how much you want to tip. I noticed most tourists tipped anywhere from $1-10 US at restaurants
