00:30 When Flint let go of the machine, he knew he was going to die, and he was okay with that. You can see it on his face what he was thinking, "This is the right thing to do. They'll be safe.". This is part of what makes Flint a great character. He's aware of his faults and failures but faced them, believing he would succeed one day. In his mind, sacrificing himself to save others is his greatest success
I know I shouldn't get deep into this, but that's exactly what I thought when Flint had that serene expression instead of an comical panic when falling. Whatever's going in his head, is definitely a peace of mind.
That's probably the message of the movie. "You can do great things, but if it ends up in failure, you must face it, and if you believe in yourself, and think of others, you'll achieve your greatest success in a whole new way."
When I first saw this in theatres as a kid I usually hate when movies have kissing in them. But here the kiss between Flint and Sam felt well deserved after all they went through together.
@Douglas Babb I'd say it worked perfectly here. Flint met someone who perfectly understood what it was like to have niche interests and to be treated like dirt for it. As a result, they understand and like each other in a way no one else really did.
1:59 Steve may be a Silly Comic Relief but his emotional expression here that Notes that he realizes his owner and best friend in the world is now gone always breaks my heart. I just want to give him a hug.
This was a movie that you thoroughly enjoyed the first time you see it then years later when you see it again you have a whole new appreciation for it.
Exactly why I just recently watch this movie... It's one of those movies that you enjoyed as a kid, but rewatching it as an adult, you find a new appreciation and enjoyment.
I remember seeing this in the movie theater with my mother...I was crying, and my mom didn't know what happened, and then she realized I was crying, so she handed me a napkin to wipe my tears. Even though Flint Lockwood was okay in the end, I was still sobbing after I left the theater after the movie ended... I guess that's why my mom never took me to see the sequel in the theater...then again, it was a good thing. And this is coming from someone on the autistic spectrum... I recall screaming and crying in the movie theater when I saw Ralph Breaks The Internet (the sequel to Wreck-It Ralph) when the virus happened. I didn't want Wreck-It Ralph to die. He didn't. He's my favorite Disney character aside from Baymax and Sora from Kingdom Hearts (thanks to him being included in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate). I'm not gonna yak about me panicking when I saw the second Sonic the Hedgehog movie when Sonic was underwater (since his weakness is water, and he cannot swim).
The one thing that makes it more heartwarming is that Monkey Thought Translator not only works on humans too, but it also helped speak out what Tim couldn’t express about how proud and amazed he is to be the father of an extraordinary human like Flint. For people who are too shy or hesitant of what they want to say but don’t have the courage to say it, this translating mind device would help you speak up what’s in your mind (or rather what’s in your heart) instead of keeping it in yourself.
actually no not that, during the credits he is shown being held by Brent floating as if he is a hot air balloon, then he touches a sharp arrow sign and deflates, and lands in a cave of ice cream with Brent, then in the next scene Earl is shown arresting him, then he hops down a hole.
I think the part where his dad runs up all excited and then finds out he's not with him is sad bc his voice is super monotonous throughout the movie and in this one part where he says "oh" his face trembles and his voice breaks and I cry every time even tho I know the ending
An error is that half of his hair Burned after the explosion and then he got his hair back in the Second movie. I think Among his inventions he used his hair unbalder To grow his hair back
I’ve seen a few comments on this video about how this movie reminds people of their late fathers. I’ll add another person to that list, as my father passed away a few months ago and I’ve always compared flint’s dad in this movie to my own dad in a lot of ways. I miss him a lot and this scene in particular really hits me.
After hearing Tim make that amazing speech to Flint and to finish it off in his own voice was truly a happy emotional ending. I wish movies today had this much heart and soul.

I wonder what then changes the machine personality, and why it also begins to instead of just creating food, creates a whole living world of food. I am pretty sure the explosion didn't do that... but I am also surprised it even found a way to still function in a way after literally being sealed shut... wonder if Flint ever realized it gained a whole personality and sort of consciousness. Albeit, originally it was to simply follow the orders given to it. But after a while it clearly became more. Also makes me wonder why he never bothered going back to make another or to simply perfect the machine after. I mean, he should know how to make it again regardless, so why did he simply never try doing it again without sending it into the atmosphere? (Which clearly had brought on some issues with its general functionality and limits... or lack there of)
