I feel like we should take a second to acknowledge how scary it is that the Master Sword broke. If Malice really is, well, malice, then that means Ganondorf destroyed the Master Sword, an ancient, god-forged weapon designed specifically to kill him, through nothing but _sheer force of hate._

Hope we get to actually use the corrupted sword, acting like a weak short sword, and slowly becoming a stronger and longer blade. My main complaint being that in newer playthroughs, sometimes all my weapons would break, this would allow the game to have a last resort weapon.

If Fi does happen to make a comeback, it would be amazing if she had some design change, to show that she grew with her time in the Master Sword, and was perhaps absorbing information as time passed. Maybe she’ll be more of a fleshed-out character and less of that Annoying and Persistant Automaton

Also I realize I hadn't taken in the magnitude of the sword being broken, it really just shows that this Ganondorf is extremely smart in taking out all the major key players like in BotW with the guardians and champions, but instead of just being told then fighting a bestial form of Ganon, we get to actually to go against that Ganondorf, which I'm really excited about

The Malice acts like a really strong acid, eating away at the actual metal of the blade. It makes sense if you think about it from a story-perspective. In BOTW, it was shown slightly eaten away at from the contact it made with the Malice in all the corrupted Guardians Link fought on his and Zelda's escape. Now as has been seen the trailers of the sequel, Link has the sword drawn and a stream of pure Malice has enveloped it which could lead to Link dropping it and the Malice goes after it but the Hand Entity somehow prevents the Malice from completely destroying the blade leading to the state we have seen in the latest trailer.
It's possible that the Hand Entity somehow tapped into the sword's time control capability and put the Malice that remains on the blade into a long term stasis or a state of time dilation so what seems like a second to the Malice is in reality several days or even weeks. After all, Link has been shown to have the capability of several seconds worth time-reversal through the hand and the Ancient Shiekah having the ability of actual stasis which they put as an actual feature of the Slate.
There are alot of things in play here this just might be majora's mask 2.0 here !

I think it's also important to consider what this means for link. We've seen that link's condition and the master sword's condition mirror eachother. Since link probably won't constantly be on the verge of death throughout the game, and we can also see link's blackened hand quite clearly in the trailer, I think it's safe to assume that he is corrupted by malice, like the sword.
Mmmm not so much, I mean he clearly lost his arm in some form, but this seems more like some form of magic, plus is resembles the hand holding Ganon captive, making me think it’s more so…a blessing, that the spells final power was to restore Links arm, to allow him to banish/seal/kill Ganon again
No, I think he means from the earlier trailers. Link’s arm is messed up BEFORE we see it with the Zonai gauntlet

I know this isn't related to the subject of the video, but the shot of the hole in the Yiga clan's base caused me to think maybe that's the hole leading to the cave that Link and Zelda are seen exploring in the trailer. It would make sense for the Yiga Clan to have a tunnel to Ganondorf's body, maybe sealed in some way that they couldn't open and only Link and Zelda are able to open (either by Sheikah Slate, or some other method).

Also, the Yiga Clan hideout is in the Gerudo region, which is Ganondorf's home. So ig it would make sense that his body would be somewhere in that region

I know link is super strong and all but I am still wondering if they were looking for ganondorf or if they were just exploring.
Honestly I’m kind of hyped for this journey. It is a bit painful to see the sword reduced to this. All the more so after replaying Skyward Sword last year.
But in that sense we could get to go on that kind of journey once more. Reforging the sword, truly rebuilding it and maybe getting it to the strongest state it’s ever been in.
I may not be the biggest fan of Fi. But she deserves better than being left in this condition.
I'm really excited to get and play this game.

I would actually love to see more types of weapons in botw2. In the main game we had dual handed weapons, one handed weapons and a shield, spears and bows, which were used by the champions, but I think it would be cool to see 4 new types, maybe gauntlets, dual wielded daggers/short-swords, crossbows and some shieka gun or something.
I could definitely see crossbows making a comeback alongside things like whips, daggers, hammers, etc. Maybe a sort of fantasy version of a blunderbuss for more ranged weapon variety.
The idea for the Mastersword to break was so unexpected, that when first watching the trailer I actually didn't even think that that could be the Mastersword!
Skyward Sword Link would be pissed to see what happened to his sword

Time reversal could be another way to restore the Master Sword, similar to the ability we see in the trailer. This doesn't necessarily mean time travel, but maybe it can go thru stages as it would require some way to purify the malice spread all over Hyrule by Ganon and remove the curse, allowing portions of the sword to grow back... Some more stuff popped in my head just now, but I'm also half asleep 😴
yeah, some theorize that the hilt of the master sword has or is made of time stone, stones that appeared in Skyward Sword's desert region that when struck temporarily reverse time around them to the lush land it once was, which would explain its regenerative/everlasting properties.
Maybe there would be like, reverse time+, and after you get that you can fix it
I like the idea that Time shenanigans are gonna return to Zelda. I know Nintendo wants to move away from all of the stuff we traditionally see as "Zelda", such as Time Travel, but it is clear that Time Travel has always been a big part in the Zelda Series.
It could be used as a temporary fix and would be a interesting mechanic and make it so you have to judge when to restore it in a battle before it is fully repaired
does that mean we would be able to get the ocarina of time again and play as young link if possible
I have a theory, it's a bit far fetched but there's this yellow gem on the master sword, it was there since the beginning. Maybe the yellow energy in the trailer is something you insert to the gem, thus making it stronger/restoring it/restoring hylia's blessing. The gem is still there after the sword broke although it looks less transparent or "healthy", so I think this yellow energy from the trailer is what makes it look better.
The gem does appear to have darkened, like in windwaker with the missing prayers

my thought is that the *rebirth* of the master sword, reforged in the way it was formed originally, will lead to it having a new design in ongoing games. It may be some small differences, but it could be interesting to have it look a bit different.
Zelda carrying the essence of Hylia is a crucial point, I'm sure. The story will probably unfold in a way that will render all efforts of strengthening the sword meaningless without her. You will eventually have to return to the caves. Or meet up with her some other way.
Regarding getting ore, we should note the existence of Master Ore. In ALBW, this ore is utilized to upgrade the Master Sword to its red Tempered and Golden forms. (I also headcanon that Master Ore is in fact an alloy of the three Pure Metals we see in the World of the Ocean King, but that's another matter.) Finding Master Ore to restore the physical blade seems well within the realm of possibility.
Though honestly, part of me kinda hopes that the Master Sword _stays_ broken. I don't actually think it will be, not for a second, it's too marketable, but it'd be a really powerful statement to retire the thing for good and go in other directions with regard to sacred weapons. (And I have even less hope of the Four Sword getting involved, but this would be the *perfect* opportunity to do so.)
@romalac I see what you said here about the no remplacement of the MS. If nintendo decide to delete this factual object, and with the spiritual direction of the sequel, I think we have to see the remplacement of the sword for the better to Link. Link>MS
I feel like leaving it broken would have worked better if they had never drawn attention to it, bringing it up and then just not actually using it is kind of poor storytelling, though retiring it after this game makes sense (like if the repairs were more of a temporary thing or sacrificing the blade is the only option to end the cycle for good.)
I've been playing these games since 1991 when they first introduced the sword....and I agree I'm ready for it to be retired.

The Sword getting hurt was something they made a big deal about in BOTW1, but it kinda ended up being a footnote, so hopefully they do more with it now.
There's a concept of "living ghosts" in Japan too, sort of like astral projection. What Zelda did to talk to Link in the Shrine of Resurrection may be something like that. Alternatively, remember how you had the gossip stone in Wind Waker that Zelda spoke to you through? what if you have a situation where Zelda is trapped somewhere but can speak to you through a similar means? I still think it would be cool to have sections playing as Link on the surface and sections playing as Zelda in underground ruins, playing into the archaeology angle she had in BOTW.
I think we'll probably have to get star fragments or their equivalents (goddess dust from skyward sword) for materials if we need them to restore the sword because it's literally material from the sky, where the dragons reside and where the sacred flames may be as you mentioned
Given the short exposure to them in the first game, I do think it's likely we'd work with the successors to the champions in search of a group of new Sages to battle Ganondorf. While Rito are 'supposedly' related to Zoras and we already have those, they could actually wind up taking the spot of the Forest Sage. The Forest Temple was originally supposed to be their element- Wind, we never did get a distinct Korok other than Hestu, who served a side purpose, and with the apparent evidence that the forest's been nuked, it might be hard to find a korok to serve in that role.
Paya is the obvious shiekah successor, and honestly, I think it'd be cool to see someone new rise to the role as a Hylian sage. I feel like we rarely get to see Hylians do a whole lot in Zelda. The most we've seen was the small resistance group in Twilight Princess, who weren't shown doing much beyond one token success in battle. I'd kinda like some new hero to show up, maybe some hot-shot knight kinda like Groose, but with skills comparable to Link's.
As for Zelda, it's also possible that if she speaks through the ball of light, she might just be elsewhere in the world, or unable to follow Link into the sky for some reason. I do think it'd be a bit pointless for her to lack a significant physical presence in the game after they made that new design for her. Longshot wish for me would be her being affected by some corruption too, though I worry they'd still be likely to sideline her instead of doing anything cool.
The one thing with Demise is that being a demon god of unknown origin, there are a lot of random asspulls and retcons/corrections they could go with in the relatively loose Zelda lore to pull him out of the shadows again, so it's mainly a question of whether the tones/evidence seen in footage indicates they might try to use him in the lore or not. The silhouette on the wall in the first trailer, which always looked like him to me more than Ganon or the Dorf Man, and Fi possibly being involved again are the only real hints they might try it, but Ganondorf is still the headline villain, so I think that will affect how they use or reference Demise's presence. Maybe Ganon regains some sense of what he came from similar to how Zelda in Skyward Sword was reminded of her role.

Given how they mentioned expanding the world, its possible the entire forest was somehow transported further away from the Castle to a more remote location, perhaps at the cost of the Deku Tree who will deliver a final message upon encountering Link once more
This fits with that old theory that the great plateau and Great hyrule forest swapped places at some point, although I'm not sure how moving it back would be protecting it as it isn't very far away from the castle, where we can assume is the location of ganondorf. Maybe it went up? Could be an alternative reason for the castle going up.

I love the idea of looking for materials for the sword. In phantom hourglass, we have to create the Phantom Sword ourselves which is the only weapon that can harm Bellum, who's still a demon. The Crimsonine, Azurine, and Aquanine are all crystals of the color of the golden goddesse. it wouldn't be a bad idea to have this kind of stuff again.
I really like the idea of the Triforce of Courage being a secondary objective and possibly being an additional buff Link can obtain for the final fight. I feel this is where the Zonai could come in. They revere the original 3 goddesses the most out of any civilization in BOTW and their main settlement is built around the Spring of Courage and Farosh’s turf. I can see Link coming to the Faron region to receive the Triforce of Courage, possibly after a dungeon here or a major side quest across Hyrule.
Agreed! So far pretty much every hero has received the triforce of courage on top of the master sword. Usually they go hand in hand. BotW Link seems to be one of a few exceptions to the rule. Give him the triforce he deserves Nintendo!
I imagined a similar thing with Master Ore, possibly with Link needing to seek a certain amount out to fix the sword but being able to find more and even reforge the sword into the Tempered and Golden Sword.
@@MonsterMaze what if because Calammity Ganon wasn't the real threat the triforce never manifested for link because he simply didn't need it to defeat the Calamity and since the real threat Ganondorf is coming back the triforce will begin to show itself again.
That would be incredibly interesting if the Triforce of Courage was effectively a Biggoron's Sword hidden behind a lengthy optional quest
Given the emphasis of the decaying Master Sword in the story, I theorized (before release) that Breath of the Wild would be the bridge between modern and classic Zelda, giving a contextual explanation as to why the Master Sword never appeared in Zelda 1 and 2 and why the Silver Arrows were used instead to kill Ganon. Now seeing the sword in an even worse state in the footage for the sequel, I'm starting to think things could actually go in a similar direction.
I'm pretty sure BOTW is already established to take place long after Zelda 1 and 2 though.
@@JJAB91 You're right, I kinda worded that wrong. What I meant was I think its possible that Link may need to find an alternative solution to defeating Ganon this time around instead of solely relying on the Master Sword, especially considering how much its downplayed in BotW compared to previous Zeldas (the fact that getting it is entirely optional). I dunno, I think it could be a nice break away from the usual trope of having to repair the important sword to defeat the big evil, which has been done a few times already in past games.
@@mark_speranzart What about creating new silver arrows out of shards from the master sword? If Zelda isn't around to give Link an advantage, there could still be some use to the sword. This sounded like something I read in a book once, but now I'm realizing it's kinda different. And with the Master Sword melted, this wouldn't make much sense. Welp, full circle once again. Cool idea debunked by its inspiration.
In a link between worlds you can reforge the master sword twice using legendary metal found in both worlds, this might be an interesting way to repair the master sword this time around.
I don't think that's the angle they're gonna take, though.
I'm hoping for a lightsaber moment? Link just gains the ability to summon the full blade through light alone. through its wearied form. But most likely it's just going to be a "Oh get the sacred metal let's just reforge it lol". It would be so much cooler if the blade *is* irreversibly damaged, but through sheer power of light it can project it's whole form without the need for the whole blade.

If the three flames are present in the sequel there will probably be one in the sky, underground, and on the surface. As for the surface one, I believe it is sealed away in the forgotten temple in botw. Something as precious as one of the flames Gannon would have wanted destroyed. That explains why there are so many guardians at the forgotten temple.
Maybe one of the collectables we will be searching for in this game could be the shattered pieces of the master sword that have been scattered around the map , as an excuse to stop the player from having access to the master sword from the beginning of the game

Shattered? No, look at that thing again. I don’t think you could find other shards when the thing looks eaten through with malicious acid. Either powerful reversal magic is needed to undo what the Malice had done; as I don’t think any amount of pure ore could fix that, weak foundations and all; or Link may have to give the blade up for something stronger. Back in skyward sword, when Fi talked about eradicating Demise’s consciousness sealed within at the end of the game- there’s one detail she missed: it’s been said that Demise had conquered TIME ITSELF!!! How can you break something down with time if time no longer holds meaning for Demise? Of her calculations, I think she made a fatal flaw with that diagnosis. All in all, we are at a focal point concerning the master sword. Either a new legend will be born for this timeless blade, or it’s era will finally close for the last time.

When they showed that footage of the melted and decayed Master Sword my jaw dropped! I'm not sure if they somehow planned this, but I actually played Skyward Sword recently since they released it on Switch, so having to build the sword, then see this right after that kinda lowkey hit a bit different. If it was planned- man, they're clever 😂
It's a perfect way to tie the Breath of the Wild era into the Skyward Sword era. One showing how the shword was made, the other showing it's (possible) downfall ^^

you have some good ideas my friend. a lot of these things came true.
- a zora dungeon hidden underwater (ancient waterworks are connected to the water temple, close enough)
- gerudo temple that will rise from beneath the sands
- goron temple within death mountain
- rito dungeon in the sky/snowy mountains
- another dungeon deep underground related to the sheikah, or zonai...
- acquiring relics of ancient sages that enhance elemental powers
- time travel to fix the sword
- fi specifically knowing how to go back in time and reforge the sword... "you... traveled back in time to find me, and recover your strength?" just beautiful.
- possibly using the triforce to reforge the sword? zelda *did* have a glowing triforce symbol on her hand while reforging the sword as the light dragon after all. using her sacred light powers, literally amped up to the max.
- ganondorf being cunning enough to immediately take out zelda, link, and the master sword lmao.
and probably more details, but eh this is already a LOT to get right. i don't think anyone could have anticipated zelda swallowing a magic stone that took her over 10,000 years into the past, becoming a sacred dragon hidden above the clouds for millennia, and using her light powers to reforge the master sword. but many elements of it, aside from zelda and dragons, were predicted. just so cool.
Since cherryblossoms are a symbolism for life and death, the disappearance of the Deku Tree could be tied to the destruction of the Master Sword.
i would love to restore the master sword like this... so many links to the past like SS or OoT... also with the dragons being our reason to go up into the skies would be so cool. Great video man!!
We also have to take into consideration that the entire world of Hyrule could be changed because of the floating islands we see in the trailer. This could mean that those locations are now irrelevant or separated into more dungeon-like areas by the new terra-formation. I would also like to point out that the trailer gave me a startling reminder of Skyward Sword. I think we'll be seeing more and more of it shine through Breath of the Wild 2 as the game development progresses. (Btw the "bracelet" is actually the arm that was holding the seal on Ganon. Link's own arm got eaten away by malice in the trailer, and the arm emitting the green runes joined to Link's arm, and if you look closely, Link has a black, burn-like mark where the green arm is.)
24:31 This theory holds some weight, but there is a crucial flaw. Vader couldn't bring Legolas because I think that Link and Legolas are actually the same person. Both are incredible archers with blond hair, pointy ears, and epic shield surfing skills. So when Darth Vader shows up, he will bring Tom Bombadil instead.

My thought on Fi she is the emergency system in the sword, as an entity herself fi is gone, as apart of the sword Fi only appears when the sword or the user is in dire strait. I also believe the sword is more crippled than completely lost, like most of the magic is still there otherwise the sword or link wouldn't have survived the assualt. It's in a weaken state yes but it could probably still repel evils but not ganon.
I really hope there's a "collect the eight triforce pieces" quest as part of the main quest. That should be where the big dungeons are. But I think they should try expanding on incorporating other Zelda items into the game, like the hookshot or magnetic boots.

Basically, the big important dungeon rewards are triforce pieces. I'm not talking about a boring money draining fetch quest. I'm talking main quest rewards. Like the first Zelda on NES.

I think the Skyward Sword HD release and this being delayed and what we know with the travel in the skies etc is a way to give us what we should be looking at which is Skyward Sword another look and deeper into the lore of the story.
I'm glad someone finally pointed out that Demise isn't actually inside the sword, just his decaying remains. I was always confused why people thought he was gonna pop outta the sword all fine and dandy.

One thing worth taking into consideration is that *Skyward Sword* is the 3D game that predates the current BotW/TotK era. Ever since that game’s release, there has been a greater emphasis on the lore of the Master Sword itself, with everything now coming full circle. The implications of SS are that Fi has been residing in the sword *this whole time,* across every timeline, and thus has naturally had to endure a lot over the eons. I would personally love to see the true return of Fi (and Ghirahim? They’re counterparts after all) in TotK, especially considering that we seem to have reached a breaking point of sorts. Demise’s original hatred is now literally in an incoherent, primal, too-far-gone state. I am also curious how they plan to bring Ganondorf into this particular narrative…
I think that the dungeon part of the trailer stems from link and zelda exploring the now empty death mountain, finding all sorts of tunnels which somehow find their way to gannon

The ominous sense and the way Zelda looked when she fell makes me think this might be a death scene as well. But we forget one thing, brought it up awhile back. With all the hints regarding the ancient hero, the arm, the attire link has, couldnt it be we might interact with or maybe utilise the essence of the ancient princess of the prophecy as well? Just thinking out loud
When she fell it could of been a misdirect. We also saw link catching zelda when she fell, I don’t think she died because that would be the end of the bloodline of the goddess.
A full on death scene? I find that highly unlikely. Especially since you JUST got her back at the end of the first game.
Yeah I know what you mean, maybe death scene is too harsh of a statement, let’s just call it Zelda’s next predicament. In that sense you could call spirit tracks Zelda kind of death as well y know. But I think that just like Link will be fused with the essence of the/an ancient hero, Zelda is going to need a similar treatment, only Link has to make sure she gets it, because it’s needed to, like with Link and the malice, save her life. Just me guessing and going off of missing points like the princess we see on that prophecy on the left side of Ganon. I think “going back to the essence and the 3 virtues” could be key..
She couldn't have died. Demise's curse forbids it from happening... yet.

One of my theories is that with the Master Sword broken and the seal released, Link can finally kill Demise and end his curse. This would effectively make BotW2 the final Legend of Zelda (timeline-wise). Of course there can be more Legend of Zelda games, but those will either have to be a buildup to this or forgo Ganon. Fi could make a comeback, however, what the Master Sword is currently doing reminds me of the Sheikah Slate alarm when Link gets too close to a shrine.
The Four Sword doesn't really make much sense to add as an in-game weapon as it's existing playstyle does not flow well with the current move set and battle flow. This could be fixed with a separate move set that applies the four Links, however, four Links can very quickly become a liability outside of battle. Therefore, I believe the Four Sword to be more applicable to Hyrule Warriors.
It would be kind-of cool to be able to use the still broken Master Sword as a medium for a weaker aura blade.
If we go down the bottomless pit for a dungeon, then we have to see the Yiga boss down there. The idea is just too hilarious to me.
If the bottomless pit is a dungeon if koga is the boss of it would be even better
Another possible future for the master sword, is that we reforge it like in minish cap, where the picori blade was shattered in half, and we reforged it into the four sword, maybe, this could be done too with the master sword, symbolizing a new era in the zelda franchise, with, maybe, Ganondorf completely obliterated, and the emerging of a new villain, and a new main weapon, now that both are gone, both Ganon, and the Master Sword, completed their journey.
Indeed, I was also having the picori blade in mind, since we infuse it with four elements. maybe we have to do something similar in BotW 2. Finding an x amount of elements to give it new life/power.

It would be cool if the blade, rather than being destroyed, was infected. It seems fine, then the tip blackens, and as the malice spreads toward the hilt the power of the sword steadily falls.
Imagine if you hold it long enough, itll corrupt link, giving the option of not using it and staying good

I really hope Fi is alright, sense shes possessing the sword i think it makes sense that whatever happens to the sword, also happens to her. So sense the damage is really bad...shes probably in a lot of pain.
These are my thoughts of how the Master Sword got destroyed:
In the A Link to the past Manual it was claimed that the Master Sword was forged as a weapon to resist even the power of the Triforce.
It is basically immune to magic, but sadly not to physics, otherwise the Blacksmiths in A Link to the past wouldn't be able to temper the Master Sword.
But when the Attack on Link with Ganon's Malice caused the Master Sword to be badly damaged, then what is Malice exactly?
It cannot be magic since the Master Sword would repell it completely
It has to be a substance made of pure evil but without magic, just evil manifested into some sort of matter
Something similar existed in the Second Movie of the Ghostbusters Trilogy, in the Second film they discovered that large ammounts of a pink goop flows across the underground sewers of New York.
Everytime someone gets angry or furious or showing other similar types of negative feelings then this Goop grows. Objects can come to life when they get in contact with it, and as some of them accidentaly fell into the stream of this goop, they'll get feelings of extreme ammount of hatred, later they realize that this Hatred got Created by the Goop they came to conclusion that this Goop is the pure Manifestation of the Hatred of New York's entire population.
And something similar is in the Case of Malice.
It is manifesting into a purple goop that controlls machines, it can corrupt the minds of Eternal Beings such as the Dragons, Deity like creatures which are supposed to Guard the world, and sucking the life force out of Mortal individuals like a deadly cancer.
And seemingly it is also acting as some sort of Acid That's causing metallic objects for Example to get in a... "rusty" condition.
Even for the Master Sword, sincen it can still be affected by physical influence like heat that makes the blade softer and easier to reshape, or acid that decomposes the metal just like the malice seemingly did
The master sword is such a great weapon in the base game when in the 4 divine beasts, and Hyrule castle too. The master sword is an average weapon in most of Hyrule, but its powers to shoot beams exist anywhere as long as your at full health.

Sidon, Sage of Water
Impa, Paya or Purah, Sage of Shadow
Yunobo, Sage of Fire
Riju, Sage of Spirt
Hestu, Sage of Forest or Wind
Zelda, Leader of the Sages
And maybe Teba being the sage of earth?

I love the idea of having to physically remake the blade, like how certain generations of Link had to recreate legendary blades to fight evil foes, like the Phantom Sword, the Four Sword, etc, it would definitely be much cooler

Another amazing video! Really excited to heal the sword. Zelda has a lot of themes of healing yourself/healing the world through putting in a lot of work, which just makes me think of the hard work that comes with therapy. If humans can find a way to heal and function after the horrific things that befall us, the Master Sword can be healed enough to be functional too, I believe.

I mean its only been in development since the release of the Champions ballad DLC from December 2017. Theyre about 4 years into it and the last time they took this long on a Zelda game we got breathe of the wild. The reason they chose to do a sequel instead of more DLCs is because they were so passionate about the ideas they had and how many they had, that they wanted a sequel instead. Suffice to say that its probably gonna be pretty good when it comes out, whenever that may be
In legend of Zelda a link between worlds you could upgrade the master sword using master ore so we’re probably gonna need to find some of that in order to reforge the blade And considering how sacred the blade was I’m going to assume that the only place you can find master or is what used to be the lanryu desert in skyward sword because that’s where all the cool minerals came from including the time ones
Great video! I theorize that when ganon attacks link and the master sword he comes in contact with demises remenants and are absorbed into the malice. I believe this ganon will be the most powerful we have seen so far

4:07 I have a far flung theory. I forget which two Zelda titles it was but you had to strengthen/remake the supposed master sword. Perhaps they are going to reproduce a similar method. A method in which 3 or more materials blissed by the goddesses can be obtained. No doubt the shika with their advanced magical tech will play a role in it as well.

For Hylia's blessing, I doubt Zelda would be needed, as she only has the blood of the godess, not her soul. The Hylia statues all over Hyrule in BotW show that Hylia is seperate and could help Link without Zelda, so maybe the her blessing could be obtained in a similar way.
Which statues are those? Because I know in Skyward Sword Zelda did have Hylia's soul, and I haven't played BoTW for a couple years now
that's just wrong, zelda doesn't just have the blood of the goddess, she's a reincarnation, just like link and ganon, they are but continuous reincarnation doomed to repeat the cycle eternally, link as the original hero, zelda as hylia, and ganon as demise, it doesn't really matter who wins at the end, the cycle just repeats regardless, until demise's curse is broken at least.
I would love to see the master sword repaired during the game and maybe even going through a design change, I think it would be very refreshing for later titles to have a different sacred blade

There’s so much goddamn lore in these games it’s harder to remember than world history
When the sword is reforged, it is possible that Fai will end up absorbing the power of Link's arm to destroy Ganondorf's Malice once and for all. maybe that's why the Zonai created the seal that covered Ganondorf's chest in the first place, they wanted to destroy what they themselves had created but it wasn't enough, the hero of the legend and the sword that seals darkness were the pieces that were missing.
It makes sense that this incarnation of Ganon’s far smarter and dangerous than the rest, as I firmly believe that Malice is something *far more dangerous* than we could’ve imagined. Demise’s rage, hatred, and fury have all accumulated over time and have created a monstrosity out of this strange, yet horrendously dangerous sludge that can corrupt ANYTHING. This alone tells me that maybe leaving Ganon alive for 10,000 years wasn’t the smartest idea, because it gave him the worst thing that you can give your enemy. Time. Time to plan, time to think on how he would overtake Hyrule, time to think on how he would eventually demolish Link and Zelda, and complete the Triforce under his tyrannical rule.
In my eyes, the pendelum of heroism and evil is beginning to swing in Demise’s favor. His sheer grudge between himself and Goddess Hylia’s, “Chosen Ones” is starting to pay off. His cunningness and his ways of corruption have played a HUGE part in BOTW’s story.
As for the Master Sword… I dunno how we’re gonna put THAT back together as it’s looking like it’s seen some much better days than what’s happened to it now. To think that just through Demise’s festering and fettering grudge, he managed to reduce the Master Sword to its sad and nearly broken state… Makes me shudder just thinking about it.
I think this incarnation of Ganon will be by far the most challenging fight of all time, because he’s been watching Zelda and Link this whole journey, biding his time, and planning his next moves with razor-sharp accuracy. Ten thousand years have given him the ammunition to overtake Hyrule, have a serious advantage over Link and Zelda, and even gave him an element that was created just by his raw will alone.
The terrifying aspect of all of this is they thought he was dead… That the Tyrant King of the Gerudo was long since passed.
They were wrong. So, SO wrong.
i hope he's difficult to fight . im terrible at fighting bosses but , reasonably , after all the flack nintendo got for how easy the final fight was in botw , i imagine botw2's fight is gonna be absolutely horrendously hard
This might be a good thing too though, If you think about it Demise has been in the master sword like forever, his existence might have protected or even revived Ganondorf even in the sword.
So with the sword damaged like this Hylia and this Link might make a NEW master sword, one that isn't helping/protecting Ganondorf in secret and we might be able to kill the Gerudo king once and for all.
But that's just a theory.
@@naraw.456. Not even exclusive to Breath of the Wild; Most Ganon fights were either stupidly easy or just cliché in previous games, and Demise is an utter pushover despite his build-up during the events of Skyward Sword.

It kinda gets reforged. Though healed is probably a better word.
I would love to see Link reforge the Master Sword into a upgraded/altered form, like the Golden Sword, or better, a brand new sacred sword. Fi would also be a suitable guide to brand new sky realm.

I think you’re definitely on the right track about the new footage showing something related to the goddesses reforging the blade. On the left shoulder of Link’s new tunic you can see what looks like a dragon (botw’s incarnations of the goddesses) in the art style of the divine beasts from the botw loading screen. I bet it’s all related!
Something tells me that BotW2 is the final game in the timeline and this could mean the end for the Master Sword

something else i thought about is that in a link between worlds there is master ore, maybe you have to go underground in the temples to find that to reforge the sword and maybe you get to even choose the form of the sword, like a katana or a spear (unlikely but would be nice). or something like obtaining the four sword and using that temporarily and use that later in a dual wield style with the master sword.
I'm so glad I watched this after gathering all the tears in the game I never would have expected the way it was revived

I really do hope fi makes a comeback some how, as she was a big part of the original forging of the sword in the first place. Even though she does say her purpose was to forge it and once it was done she went dormite in the sword. But maybe hylia could “revive” her to REforge it
I could see missions to obtain rare minerals that are in a magical mountain/fairy fountain followed by power of the sages not just to reforge it but to empower it aswell with maybe going to the temple in the sky to find the master swords secrets
One thing I'd absolutely love to see, on the subject of underground exploration, is Link finding an abandoned or unfinished early type of Sheikah shrine, maybe discovering a clue or relation to Ganon something like that. Familiar but decayed places were my favorite parts of BotW, and it might help players reacclimate to the game world, similar to the opening section of Portal 2!
One thing I object, is that zelda actually contained ganon. Ganon didn't goble her up, she blatantly killed ganon and the blights herself, however his power still grew widespread and she was forced to contain the remaining entity within hyrule castle, however over the century the weaker blight puppets returned and as link awoke ganon took control of the divine beasts as zeldas power weakened, hence the beasts suddenly causing distress at their respected villages. And as for the egg, zelda had to contain ganon from within that, but his power grew too much so she had to release it, when link entered the sanctum. In dark beast ganon she stayed inside him and held back the malice. Then she finished him off, and u can see the absolute fear ganon has of zelda as she lit him up. I think this is very important and will play a role in the sequel. Also in case ur wondering in botw I know impa in particular described zelda as being trapped, but this is bcuz she has spent 100 yrs being immortal and containing the beast until link returned. I doubt she will be dead in botw 2, after outliving ganon without aging and then falling off a cliff... that would be so dumb, I'd say she has her own story and set of missions, being playable.
