I keep coming back to these GT-1 (and ME-80) videos, even though I still don't own any of the units. I haven't done any type of A/B listening with the original recordings, but I just think most of them... if not all... sound just phenomenal. It obviously helps quite a bit to be a great guitarplayer but I must say that i find it incredibly fascinating how you so closely manage to capture the essence of a sound with relative ease on these very affordable units. I might already have given this praise on some of the other videos, but it doesn't hurt to say it again. Cheers from a wintery cold Sweden! 🙂
Thank you Mats, I always appreciate the kind words. Sometimes you can get in the ballpark, and sometime you can get pretty damn close. I think you said it perfectly, I'm always trying to "capture the essence of a sound". You can never really recreate all the nuances of an original recording (even with all the original equipment let alone a multi-effect unit) so just getting near the essence is the game I think, and you learn so much from trying. So many people comment, "forget about trying to copy someone else's tone, just get your own sound" but what I've found is that through the process of trying to recreate some truly great tones, you can learn so much about so many elements of creating your own great tone. In any case, I hope you're having a great time exploring your own tonal journey. Thanks again for commenting. Josh.
You have to hold down the FX1 button to get into guitar simulation to switch from single to humbucker p/u. You also have to be in user mode to change things if you want to save the patch. for those who need to know.😁 thx for the cool info video
Fantastic effort and results. It shows that good ears and playing coupled with an intellligent use of available technology (with a minimum quality) is what gives results, not endless mental "jamming".
Awesome demo...definitely shows off features of the GT-1 that I haven't even touched yet. Really sounded dead-on, great job tweaking the sound to closely match the orignal!!
To do that you press MEMORY EDIT, then go to PDL using the 1 knob, and twist the 3 knob towards the right, turning it on. Then press ENTER under WRITE and turn the 1 knob from CRY WAH all the way to the right to PEDAL BEND and change the pitch to whatever you wanna bend it to
Hey - I was trying to download the patch but can't find where I'm supposed to put in the discount code, it takes me straight to checkout. Probably being a bit dumb but could you kindly point me to where the code's supposed to be entered? Thanks!
How do we get rid of the loud high gain noise in the background ? If this is played through an interface /computer, would that stomp out the hum ?I noise noise gate help, but when the signal opens the gate , its still there in the background with the chords/notes ?
Leave the noise there to be authentic at the time Eddie recorded in '78 ;-) Actually if your noise gate doesn't remove the noise then there may be another cause.
Great . I want to try this on my Kramer Focus 1000 . But i think , i treat to this guitar bad . I put the 010 string , wich is not recommended . Maybe it's o.k , i don't know for ...
Me too! Th reason was that I was playing it in a medley of songs and they are all playing along with a backing track. But Eruption has no fixed timing so I kind of had to chop it up so I could keep going after it... I hope that makes sense. Watch the whole thing here ruclips.net/video/FGn8ZFS8MEM/видео.html
Hey Mate I got a Question -> Since im using a Humbacker(No need for me to transpose a single coil to a Humbacker) what will then I use the FX1 for? Your thoughts on this please? Thanks bro
Hi mate, for this particular patch you could just turn it off...or... you could still use it for the signal boost it give that part of the signal chain. I often use it to just boost the signal. If it dulls your Humbucker too much (because it's trying to make a thin single coil sound like a humbucker) you can adjust the TONE setting in the settings to brighten it back up again.
Correction, Eruption was not played on his Frankenstart because it didn't come about until later. It was played on the Black n White striped Kramer that you see on the debut album and that guitar a few years later actually became the Frankenstrat you see today. The Black n White doesn't exist anymore.
Eddie built the Frankenstein and used it while they were in the LA scene. After he got big he switched to the bumblebee because the stein was taking too much damage. He later switched back to the stein and painted it red, later moving on Kramer guitars.
Hi Donald, I guess that depends on "when" anyone started calling the guitar a Frankenstrat. Eddie routing out the body to install a humbucker in the bridge position of the strat is the main tonal modification of the guitar that I'm referring to in this video.
Hey there, you could easily create that tone from this instruction. Just don't use the single to humbucker converter and back off on the reverb. It's still trying to be the brown sound underneath all the effects. I have some more on my website but they are for ME80. I need to redo them for GT1. guitarfxpatches.com check out the Hot for Teacher and Panama
@@joshuamundaymusic Thanks Joshua, I tweaked your patch a bit to taste and it's close enough for me. Keep up the good work on your patches and videos they're appreciated! I'm learning Panama as we speak! I never learned any VH guitar stuff, it's a bit of a challenge but I'm getting it.
I've done it for the ME-80 but I need to reprogram it for the GT-1 (check it out here www.guitarfxpatches.com/downloads/me-80-cliffs-in-the-style-of-cliffs-of-dover-eric-johnson/). I'll get to it ASAP.
Piece of crap, you will never get the Boss GT1 to sound like what this guy is playing. I tried it with a Strat w/ SD Hums and Fender 15w practice amp and don't sound anything like these demo vids
Hi Bill, You sound pretty frustrated mate. Let's see if I can help out at all. I'm going to presume that you like the sound in the video but just can't get it to sound the same with your gear. There's no "studio trickery" going on in the video, just the GT-1 straight into the audio interface to record it (i.e. no guitar amp to colour the tone in any way). If you are using the patch of mine from the video then there are some settings that might help you (if you're not using my patch then that would be a good start. You can get it at guitarfxpatches.com). Firstly, make sure you have the OUPUT SELECT in the Settings Menu set to LINE/PHONES (this turns on the speaker simulator for the amplifier section). Then try it through headphones first (this takes your guitar amp out of the equation to see if that's the issue). That should sound pretty close. The next part is tricky because guitar amps all have their own sound colouration (and they're all different which doesn't help your issue). Since I'm not sure what your Fender amp sounds like I can't help there other than to recommend you use a very "flat" sounding amp. This could mean an acoustic amp setting if your amp has that. Then you might want to mess with the main output EQ on the GT-1. Keep going mate, the Tonal Search is Eternal!
@@joshuamundaymusic I was going to try the Spark Amp by Positive Grid, it has all kinds of tone functions and only $270. First Im going to try what you have recommend and see if I can get this Gt1 going. I also have a nice Peavey 45w Pacer w/ 12" speaker and don't have much luck even on clean channel. Thanks for the input
Yo man I know this was like 5 months ago but like plug the gt1 into the return of the fx loop on your amp then it will isolate the pre amp modification. I just figured it out lol but yeah

Thanks for this. I have a gt-8 and I hope this will get me close. Also, the dive bomb is great.

@Weaver Cattle Company At 5:31 he literally says that he's assigned a dive bomb/pitch shift to the expression pedal.

Congrats on the video! I would like you to make a video with the sound of The Edge of U2!
Hi Carlos, I did a patch for "In the Name of Love" for the GT-100 in this video ruclips.net/video/ngj12degBiE/видео.htmlm22s
But I'll need to re-program it for the GT-1.
Once again, congratulations. Great video! Thank you!

Why reprogram? Are the software or firmware on both pedals different?
I wish you could have played the hole solo!!!!

I didn´t get this sound from a full set up with a JVM, dummy load etc...frustrating...the plate makes the difference though it seems...

@@joshuamundaymusic Did you move up to the GT-1000? I don't see any videos for it?

Hi Gary, the backing tracks aren't playing from the GT-1. Sorry for the confusion. Only the guitar tones are coming from the GT-1.

The black and white guitar is in no way a Kramer.
