Story 1, Im not sure about in Canada but in the US what happened would've been super illegal. The landlord must give 24 hours notice to entering your personal living space and is not allowed to enter without permission except with probable cause like house maintenance or repairs. Definitely not allowed to let someone else in your room except a hired professional to complete the tasks I just stated.

That last story about the language barrier reminds me of when I use to work at a big box retailer in an area with a large Mexican immigrant population. Several employees did double duty as translators for those when they couldn't speak English, but a lot of them wouldn't speak English out of some sort of spite when they did know it on a functional level. We had one sweet old lady that often answered a page for a translator and I loved how she handled it. Often times the interaction went something like this.
SWL (in Spanish): Hi, can you speak English?
    Customer (in Spanish): Yes.
SWL (in English): Ok, then that associate would be happy to assist you.
At which point she would leave and the customer reluctantly let me serve them after being called out.

Thing is the guilt was not eating her. So I searched some more into the story. She only told OP to avoid her dying with guilt. So she cheated on OP to feel better, she lied to OP for herself, and she told OP to not die with guilt. In all of this she sounds incredibly selfish. On top of that she only told due to the death of her friend. So if the friend did not die she wouldn't of told? Thats what I am getting. To me the wife seems extremely selfish.

@@Kumo5980 Thing is, from what I read, OP would of still probably acted the same way. In the update, cuz there is an update that AITJ missed, he is going to couples therapy with her. While I personally would of not done so that is up to him. My point is moreso, OP's reasons stem from not wanting to lose the benefits of the relationship between him and the wife. Such an ideology, in my opinion, disregards the duration of how much she lied. I just think OP is so focused on the good parts he has seen he is ignoring the core issue in that all of her actions are done for selfish reasons and not with him in mind.

Etc etc. I personally do not believe the woman OP is with is worth the time or money. However, it is OP's choice. I got to disagree about the wife in story #3. She’s not at all “faithful” she cheating on him and kept it a secret for 4 years, I don’t think her friend passing was some type of motivation. I’m betting the death made her think you can die at any moment, and if that was her her husband would most likely never know what she did. I’m betting that if her friend didn’t die OP would’ve never even written that post.
Like imagine you were dating someone in the 8th grade then by the end of your senior year they told you they cheated on you when you two were freshman and is really only telling you because she didn’t want to have a guilty conscious of never telling you.

ok about the final story id like to say this is why people think Americans are dumb because we don't speak your language. if my first language is English and then I know a good amount of French and small Italian, if I went to Rome for a vacation I wouldn't expect people to know English this is courtesy not knowing the language of whoever comes our way some Americans are complete idiots and can be extremely rude but a lot of us only appear that way from how confused we are because we might not know what language you speak from what I know I could understand simple phrases In latin based languages even not knowing the language but id be pretty scared if someone started yelling at me and myself trying to say "I don't understand" or "do you speak English" in language I know how to say it in while trying to stand my ground as a very nervous person hell I'm scared someones gonna be mad that I'm posting this. using a translator can clear that barrier and if you knew what we were saying if you didn't we sound a lot nicer its mainly the " I don't know English but they sound rude" story

In the story about the affair, I'd probably end it. It'd be hard not to screw around on her after that but at the same time I'd feel like a scum bag because I don't agree with cheating. I don't think I would ever be able to trust her again. Everyone has their opinion, and some people are desperate to avoid loneliness or to cling onto what they have but when someone cheats and you forgive them it's basically teaching them that they were allowed to get away with it, and then comes the next question...will they lose respect for you because they know you'll give them a pass. The narrator mentioned that she was loyal to her husband in the end, I disagree, cheaters by definition have forfeited being able to be considered loyal, especially when they hide it for 4 years. It'd be so damn hard to give a shit about someone after they betray you like that.

I have to disagree with the idea the wife is loyal regarding story number three. OP's wife was a cheater and a massive liar. The only reason she stated it was not grief of what she did but grief of a death causing a moment of reflection. Which is good because it gives OP the truth but, to me, this means she would of kept it hiding if something did not trigger that thought process. If I was OP I would leave her. I get the news of OP being sterile made both of them go into a bad space, however, if her solution is to cheat than that is someone I firmly believe is worth avoiding.

    Abou the 3rd story.
I think people are capable of redemption.
If the wife was someone who didn't care about her husband and was just into having affairs she would have no reason to tell and would probably just keep having affairs.
She did the opposite, she spontaneously confessed about something the husband would probably never find out, if she was completely dishonest, all she needed would be to keep her mouth shut and she wouldn't risk her marriage.

So she cheated on OP for herself, hid the cheating for herself, told OP for herself and the only reason she told was due to the death of a friend. Ex boyfriend story, 15 years is a long time and he have his life together now, that means his market value is going up and hers is going down (they are maybe in their late 30's or early 40's). Why am i telling this, well this story was shared by a woman (that it self tells a lot), what we did learned from that story was that they broke up 15 years ago and now she is thinking that maybe this man from her past is now good enough for her. So he wasn't before? Seriously there is millions of these stories out there, every single story is the same. When they are young, they sleep with thousand Chads and Tyrones and when none of them wants her and when her youth is gone, well now they are ready to settle for this random dude they didn't want. I say no, it wasn't true love if they didn't end up in together. This story was about her, what about him? can he get someone younger? someone who wants him from the very first time they meet?

Story #3 What happened, happened. The OP admits that he kind of checked out of the marriage for a while. The wife was also depressed and since her husband wasn't there for her, she found comfort somewhere else. Once she realized what was going on, she left the relationship on her own, and cut off contact. The OP finally came around, and once everybody was back on the same page, they worked really hard to fix their marriage.

Concerning the story about one spouse cheating during a tough time with finding they can't have children, geez. Don't overthink this. It was a bad time. You weren't there. Just forgive and go on.

I have to disagree. A bad time or mistake is if it happened once. She kept it going for a couple of months. To me, that logic just is an excuse to lessen the wife's cheating.

Lol. So what happens when they almost miss rent, or food prices go up, or there's a death in her family? Gotta forgive her after she cheats THEN too, because life was hard.
Fuck that! Either you commit to your partner or you're just too shallow to deserve one. Even one.

for the story where the wife cheats on the husband for being infertile, i would like to say that if your wife is doing everything she can to cheer you up and is trying not to be devastated infront of you and you ignore he it is hard but she was practically single for that period of time but she pulled herself togeather to it was a unfortunate thing but in my opinion it is no one to blame there

    • @DanielGonzalez-qk6sd

I have to disagree. Just because the husband retracted into a shell and was not attentive does not make her practically single. That logic justifies the wife cheating. If the wife felt so alone she could of left the relationship to search for a partner that is more attentive. However, she did not do so. Why? Because she did not want to leave her husband. She does not get her cake and eat it to.

@@DanielGonzalez-qk6sd I agree with you. Cheating is filthy no matter what. I don't care if the dude became a drunkard. She should have divorced him first.

So by that logic if a wife denies her husband sex for long periods of time, he should be able to find his relief elsewhere?

No, that’s a shit thing to do. If you don’t want to be with someone just tell them you don’t and break up like a mature adult.

Dude what kind of Indian was this guy in the first story? Correct me if i'm wrong but aren't the women supposed to worship and obey the men in India? Isn't that why men over there were allowed to have harems up until the mid 1980's? Put your foot down and assert your dominance bro.
