Thank you so much for taking the time to show this. What I really appreciated was watching you sew the dart on the machine and seeing that the edges of your dart didn't line up exactly. They were just a little bit off, but it didn't seem to make a difference. Sometimes I get so hung up on making sure that my edges are exact, that it takes me forever to sew a seam. I so deeply appreciate these little tutorial videos and how much knowledge you give to us for free. I tell all my friends to watch your videos because you make sewing much less scary and make me feel like I can sew anything. Much love to you and your Silhouette crew!
Agree, seeing the change is better than hearing. Thank you for all you do. I watch all your instructional RUclips and webcasts over and over again. I love your personality....do not change. Thanks also to your staff for filming and getting us close ups when possible.
Peggy, this video was very helpful. Thank you for going over French darts. I understand the purpose of a French dart now. I think you have a wonderful personality, please don't change. Your the best.
thank you for all your instructions. It's very helpful to have specific instructions on different aspects of the sewing process. I am learning a lot. you have been the most helpful to the home sewer. keep on going.
I appreciate your candidness. It is wonderful that you can always apologize if anyone feels offended. I think it is what makes you such a great teacher and I think you're funny. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much Peggy. NOW I understand how to adjust the lower width of my pattern and how to work using the tissue behind. I am so visual, so hearing you describe it and than watching you do it was a big help for me. As do so many others, I appreciate all you contribute to teaching us.
I can't tell you how helpful that was. Plus you're the reason I had to buy a French curve and serger. You explain so well that it takes a lot of the fears out of using them.
Peggy, thank you so much for this video !!!!!! I watched the webcast , you were GREAT if anything, I was worried about YOU! Thank you for all you do for us, I have learned soooo much from you!
Thank you Peggy I really got the best understanding of the french dart this time!! I'm a newbie and am trying to learn and listen to you very carefully. I appreciate your passion for sewing.
I wish it were January every month, I have been sewing, sewing, sewing and when not sewing i.e. drinking coffee having breakfast etc. I have been watching your videos so I am learning!Great french dart explanation Peggy, thank you, very clear and concise. Can you do one for adding depth at the bust to Sonya's blouse? Do you take it off the yoke pieces? You had said in answer to a question in the comments part of the LCD video, "there is a seam there...you probably cant see it...there is a yoke line there, so just increase the yoke line, both top and bottom." A visual of this too would be awesome.Thank you for all you do, Elizabeth.
Thank you Peggy, very useful as Always. I think you are funny/you bring the fun in my sewing room by making it so unscary and simple, even if you speak in a foreign language (not in French). Plus you have the geekiest seat in there, same as my geeky computer player of a husand has. 😄 💚 Cilou
Great tutorial Peggy .The fabric looks really nice just that little bit different for a t-shirt top.P.S You come across as having a great sense of humor ,you make me laugh ,a breath of fresh air .Don,t change. Thank you.
This was SO helpful Peggy. Ever since I've watched you sewing french darts I've been doing the same (or so I thought!) by cutting them out and sewing them on the serger and they do look nice! My favourite dart just like you :)
Hi Peggy. Thanks for a great Webcast - just what I needed. I just completed a colour block top with french dart, one colour above the dart and the other below. The dart was done on my (dreaded) serger and I got a tiny crease at the top of the dart - still working on that one! BTW - great idea to utilise the selvage. P.S. for what it's worth; I think you're funny. Best...Sue A.
I am so happy I found this video! I was working on your pattern for the asymetrical top today and was going out of my mind trying to figure out how to add a size to the hip without messing up the dart for the smaller size. I FINALLY figured out how to do it - and guess what? It was exactly what you showed in your video -(only it took me 4 hours and a very messy looking pattern later). Lesson learned - next time I will check your videos BEFORE I work on the pattern. Can't wait to put a muslin together tomorrow. You have so a "no nonsense" way of explaining things. Love it!
Ditto all the other comments Peggy, a very useful video, and remember you can't please everyone all the time, but for what it's worth I think you're funny too! Tasha x
Thanks for the clarification. I didn't like the dart coming to almost the bust point when I made it up. But, I did like it when the dart ONLY came to the bust circle.
my comment was for the nina top video. guess it moved to the next one and I didn't catch it.. sorry....but on thsi one? I did appreciate how to do the french dart on a serger. I always wondered how that was done........follow the left needle. got it. thanks!
I'd like to try the French Dart but I do not buy patterns. So I don't have your sizing to make the difference with the adjustments. But I'll have to do it in Trial and Error. Thanks again.
Thanks so much for this video, but does the other top you had on have the French Darts in it too? I also love that pattern in both what you had on and what you made.
I like that material, where do I find it on your web site? and pattern. I watched this for the 2nd time and finally understand the french dart. Thank You
HI Peggy, thank you so much for this video about the French dart. Q. you used the dart of the size 2 on the tip of the dart and the size 4 of the bottom side of the dart. Is that correct ? Thank you for the help.
If you adjust a bodice 1/4 inch in on the center making it 1/2" less wide it moves your french dart 1/4" to the center and does not lay nicely or correctly on bust. Tried to shorten dart point and raise it to flatter bust. Can you suggest a full proof technique to use when altering bodice and changing the french dart to go with the altered area. Maybe you can take a bodice seam it up the center and see that the french darts are closer to the center but not proportional to flatter bust so you can see what I am talking about. Thank You.
Thanks for this Peggy, it has shown all I need very clearly. I think I've only seen you do a French dart in knits. Are they not suitable for woven fabrics?
I thought you were funny in the webcast......sometimes woman are just a bit sensitive.....don't change.....I understood what you said in the webcast and today just confirmed.....Thanks a mil.
Sorry Peggy, I didn't explain myself, I want a shorter blouse that's way I need to move the French dart up on the side. I want the dart to stay at the side not at the waist.
thank you Peggy for showing how to lower the dart on the French dart. very helpful

Hi Nancy
Thanks, Peggy, for the extra explanation. It was very helpful, especially using the tissue behind the pattern.
Hello Sharon

Hi Ann
Thank you Peggy I really got the best understanding of the french dart this time!! I'm a newbie and am trying to learn and listen to you very carefully. I appreciate your passion for sewing.
This video was so helpful! I was struggling with increasing the side of the garment and did not know if I needed to change the dart.
Hi Kathy
The colors of the fabric are well suited to your complexion. I love the fabric. cute top......great job as usual.
Oh, this is sooo good! Thank you, thank you, thank you. You just answered my question when drawing/cutting the #221 Tahari's Pullover Top.

Peggy, thank you so much. You answered both my questions.

Thank you so much Peggy. I want to try the French Dart on the serger now !
Hi, how are you doing my friend?
Thank you for doing these videos. I didn't know that there are different sorts ogf darts.
Great video.
Hello Sandra

Thanks so much for this video, but does the other top you had on have the French Darts in it too? I also love that pattern in both what you had on and what you made.
Love your work, do you sew darts at the back of the top to get a better fit.
I like that material, where do I find it on your web site? and pattern. I watched this for the 2nd time and finally understand the french dart. Thank You
Hi Sandra
Peggy. I love that shirt. What pattern did you use?
Hi Sandy

Thank you, Peggy! I can now see that I will make my next french dart shorter. (You are funny! I love that about you!)
Thanks for this Peggy, it has shown all I need very clearly. I think I've only seen you do a French dart in knits. Are they not suitable for woven fabrics?
They can be for knits and wovens...we have them in some of our wovens....
I loved it.
lovely style
lovely dress
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Question: How do you increase the cup size for a french dart? I am a DD. I usually cut a size 14.
Hi Peegy, how about I don't want the dart so low in side, how can I change that ? Thanks
Hi Laura
Hi will this be good for me as I have a very large bust
Can you tell me how to do a bust adjustment on the french dart, thanks
Hello Angela
I thought you were funny in the webcast......sometimes woman are just a bit sensitive.....don't change.....I understood what you said in the webcast and today just confirmed.....Thanks a mil.
I know this is old but thank you.
Sorry Peggy, I didn't explain myself, I want a shorter blouse that's way I need to move the French dart up on the side. I want the dart to stay at the side not at the waist.
Thank you for the tutorial! BRAD, you can do a better job on the camera! Off the focus is not very sexy
