Damn. That was extremely helpful. I tried using these rules and it made navigating “Stella by Starlight” much clearer. It’s much easier to see 7th chords and extensions and connecting chords together. Helluva lesson. This seems like a great gateway to Pat Martino’s “Linear Expressions.”
Best explanation ive Ever heard on this subject. It's Exactly the way my brain looks at the fingerboard. I understand modes but trying to remember which is which and the notes it contains always left me blank when playing, but this just clicks!
I'm already subscribed but, I clicked because I saw a picture of Herbie and he is one of my all-time favorites, that being said, this is a very cool lesson...thank you!!!
Love all these videos! Is there any more content about playing fusion licks over major triads? Trying to play over some simpler rock songs but keep things interesting.
One of the later example solos had what sounded like unison licks. Are those what is referred to as 'false fingerings', and where they in the same pentatonic scale tones or did you add those in for extra flare? Excellent as always. -Matt
Really appreciate your playing, insights, and teaching wisdom! I'm a bit worried about your smile....One-sided smile and eye-lid and brow movements to me looks like facialis parese (paralysis of the facial nerve). (Had it twice myself) Have you seen a doctor? Immediately check into hospital ER if you haven't!
Do you give in person lessons? I’m not sure what part of the country you are in but it’s bound to be nicer there than it is in Anchorage, AK in mid winter. A winter vacation to a guitar boot camp would do wonders for my playing.
I understood this but it seems like alot of memorization to fit different patterns over different chords depending on the chord and sound your going for, especially when you lay on top of it knowing all the positions. Maybe this music thing just isnt for me, my brain doesnt work that way and memorizing all that then trying to recall what to play over what in an instant would ruin the flow of the music itself. I'll leave it to all the actually gifted people out there and just be an NPC shelf stocking loser.
if i understood hes saying if youre playing over Am use Bm pentatonic scale, youre always playing the same 5 box patterns we all learned, just using a different pattern, i dont get the way hes teaching , its confusing i think of it as a modes not just playing bm over am
Can’t lie, I almost spit my coffee out when I saw that milk carton…👀 🤣
😂
Who is that??
Dude no one teaches these kind of lessons like you. You are the fusion master!

Mr Marbin, thank you. I have not seen this information anywhere else. Great that you bring a fresh perspective. Bravo.
Great lesson! Especially love how this fits over the Cantaloupe Island backing track.
Awesome and so clearly explained. You are a star!

Absolute gold…thanks!
Very exciting, thank you!
Thank you..!
This is fabulous..
Watching your facial expressions is almost as fun as watching Rick Beato air drumming.
Marbin, I really enjoy your videos especially the facial expressions that you do when playing. Subbing!
I love these!
Gold!
Love your vids learning a lot. That laser transition sound is killing my ears on this iPhone though 😅
Marty on the milk carton... Thats funny
He has 4 million subscribers ? This guy is 10x better!
Marty deserves every subscriber he has. Dani too, but should have more. Hope you've subbed too.

Yes on our Patreon there are a whole bunch of those. Also a whole video about playing over pop/rock progressions.
Thanks! Sorry found this today ruclips.net/video/zwjv-sjbBbg/видео.html 💯
on he Db7 in cantalope, it sounds way more hip if you use the #11th instead of the natural 11th. Db Eb G B instead of Db Eb Gb B...
@@rillloudmother to my ear. Lydian dominant is the typical choice. This is a more intricate sound to IMO
Good stuff right tere amigo!
Super!!! Thanks

Big, bright light bulbs flashing ....
Whats the reason for putting Marty Music down?
How did I put him down?
@marbinmusic putting him on the milk carton. It says female on their. Is that suppose to be funny? Are you guys friends?
70s fusion guys? Tribal Tech started in the 80s
but thanks, great vid
I am aware
I see ads for Marty's guitar lessons all the time. He's easy to understand.
True. But in my experience it's worth sweating through Dani's lessons and emerging with game changing understanding. Cheers!
what's' that Hendrix song like this ?
It reminded me of One Rainy Wish
no butter notes - 1 2 4 5 6
Not the sussy chord
Great lesson 🤮
