The Process of Restoring a Stamas 290 Tarpon

Dale Kallaway and Kristen Metza, the owners of Two Rivers Boatworks, start building their own dreamboat, a Stamas 290 Tarpon. After pulling the boat out of storage and getting it cleaned up, they begin to plan out updates to the vessel to give it a more modern look and how they can customize it to perfectly fit their boating needs. A new paint job, an added Armstrong bracket, and bow pulpit removal kicked off the remodel before sending it off to the experts at Birdsall Marine to plan out the perfect center console.

Those Stamas 29's run beautifully, but they are very beamy and have low deadrise so they can be bouncy in a chop. They are quite efficient due to flattish bottoms so they scoot right along with moderate HP outboards. I wonder if the stern extension you added will alter the balance much? Glad you are installing a new console -- I've long thought the consoles built by Stamas were poorly-designed, with minimal storage places and a too-vertical slope for MFD's and wheel.

I have a stamas 28 liberty with a 89’ hull and now it has 2 300 v8 mercurys pushing 50 mph stamas boats last forever and they are decent but not good in rough sea
