    It looks like Hurricane Deck in the San Rafael Wilderness Area Los Padres National Forest at the start of this video. I backpacked there in 1989 with a friend. Two of my favorite places to backpack are Los Padres National Forest and the Bob Marshall Wilderness of Montana. I've hiked and backpacked in every western state but Colorado but also BC Canada and five European countries - Vikos Aoos National Park in Northwest Greece - awesome place. But, no matter Los Padres National Forest is dear to me- trekking in S. Arizona now.

    In 1989 I hiked with some other people from my high school from a spot far up Carmel Valley to Big Sur on the coast through the north part of the Los Padres National Forest. I think there were three nights of camping total. I love the plants and wildlife there. The annoying part is how steep most of the terrain is, which pretty much limits you to ridge trails, switchbacks, and valleys, and sometimes the weather: heat or rain. It's a great place to hike, though.

    We found this place last year, and just went again this past weekend. My new favorite place. Such a unique and hidden gem. I hope it stays low key.

    Cool, nice potential for exploring back country campsites. I hiked that area a few weeks ago to Junipero Serra peak.

      What Local are you? Better question what tribe and Nation is your blood from? Just asking from a tribe that was murdered and land taken from us. This guy flying his drone shares the beauty of what we all loved at one time. Keep enjoying the beauty of the land thats what its made for.

    Amazing place did u see any pigs out there? Is it public land?

    • @RoadTripFPV
      @RoadTripFPV  3 года назад +1

      It is public land once you pass the army base. I didn't see anyone or animals while I was there for most of the day walking all over the place. The area is currently shut down to the public because of fire damage to the road. It may be open now, but it wasn't when i went back a few months ago. I didn't think to check first.

    how do I get here

    • @RoadTripFPV
      @RoadTripFPV  8 лет назад +1

      Go to Google Maps and enter 36.120673, -121.453118. I took 101 to King City then Jolon Rd past Fort Hunter Liggett to Del Venturi Rd. I forget if one needs to pass through the army base. If you do just present a driver's license, passport, proof of insurance, and they can write you a temporary base badge. You'll see the trailhead when you google the lat/lon. There are lots of places to explore along the road and its really out of the way, so you'll be alone. Oh yeah, if it rains you'll need to drive through a river crossing or two.

      There is an ING (Holiday Inn Express) on base and the bowling alley has eats.

    No drones in our national forests please

    • @TheSlimej
      @TheSlimej 3 года назад +4

      Is there something we aren't supposed to see? Otherwise that would make no sense as it's the perfect place for a drone. Must be a joke.
