My dad is suffering dementia but one thing he never ever forgets and guess what that is lol Bermondsey as my family are from there also . I always call my dad the Bermondsey boy as it’s a special place in all our hearts . South London is so so special to us , superb video and How funny
This narrowboat screams creative artist. Every little touch from stem to stern tells of people have always felt save playing to a different drummer. Thanks for the show. But once again you left your better half out of the show.
Love your family history. Watermen and Lightermen are of great historic value to this country. It's no wonder you all love your boats and water. Best wishes to you all. X.
The joys of filming! I've just posted my first videos on RUclips and was amazed at how long it takes to get them anywhere near right. So many takes and then I had to work out how to edit! Nice boat, I don't think I'd have a pump out, but she's beautifully fitted out. Thanks for the video
Good of your parents to allow us to see their beautiful home. A lot of people will be tempted by this way of life, it shows you don't have to miss out on things that a traditional house would have. Loved the kitchen area, did I see running tap envy in your eyes. 😁 Shame your dad's guitar skills didn't pass onto you Charlie. Just imagine you could have serenaded Lauren every night as the sun went down.❤ Do you and Lauren ever borrow your parents campervan and travel around in it. Take care both of you.
So true Graham. Haha yes it was a little kick in the nuts turning the high powered tap on! Haha we were talking the other day saying I would really love to learn the guitar but I just never make time. We've been out in the camper van a few times but looking at getting our own before the end of the year!
I very much like that layout! :) Boat Envy Intensifies :chuckles: One of the things that has so far kept us from taking the plunge (pun definitely intended :D) into narrowboat life is that both my missus and myself are international snoring all-stars :O. We tried for a couple of years to manage the problem but in the end gave up and sleep in separate rooms ... we would definitely need the same situation on a boat and, as your video shows, you really need a 65' boat to make that practical.
Thanks so much, haha! Aww ok, yes I guess you could have a smaller boat but definitely have to have a door somewhere where it blocks the sounds of the snoring.. x
Good comprehensive walk through of your parents boat, it's very plush and well laid out. But I'm starting to miss Wanderer and it's simplicity and character. that's what really appeals to me. But Bermondsey Boy is chugging along close behind of my fanciable Narrowboats. Good job your Dad was from a respectable sounding place name of Bermondsey, I can't imagine what It might have been called. There is a place close to me called Minge Lane, but you wouldn't want to name a boat after that. With your Dad being a keen guitarist have you ever thought of using his music on your Vlogs. Funny outtakes, you should save them all up for a future outtakes Vlog. Take care both of you
Haha thanks a lot Graham! Definitely wouldn't want to have that sign written across the side of a 65ft narrowboat! I did think about it but unsure of the rules and regs on RUclips so for the time being just sticking with RUclips's free audio library to be safe.
Lovely walk through...... I have never even been on a narrow boat so I cannot speak from experience, but I personally think I would prefer a reverse layout. For me, most of the activity seems to be around the stern so I would prefer the galley/saloon at the back lol. Great vlog, thank you.
Big mistake showing Ruth this vlog on New Year’s Day!!! She now has a resolution for us to buy one like this instead of a smaller slightly less fancy version 👍😁thanks as always.. great vlog
Haha the narrowboat envy always gets us like that too! They say size doesn't matter, but when it come to narrowboats every foot makes all the difference! Thanks for the support as always Rob!
I REALLY enjoyed watching this! I didn't hear you tell us what the Make of your parent's boat is. I would really like to know so I could look online. Thank you. Their boat is wonderful!
Thanks so much Sue! There's is a 65ft semi traditional narrowboat. Not sure who built the boat, but if you search for 65ft semi traditional narrowboats they will be very similar.
Carbon monoxide alarms need to be installed at knee height or lower due to it being heavier than other gases in the air. Great boat and great tour really been enjoying binging your content.
That was excellent Charlie seeing your folks boat. Did your Dad build it ? My favourite bit of the recap of course had to be of Oscar - he is one seriously cute dog!!
Hello, Really enjoying learning about the narrow boats, do you have a hole cut in your rudder and if so what shape is it? Also does Bermondsey Boy have a hole? Trying to find boats with hearts in the rudders as friends uncle is a boat builder and this was his signature! Thanks.
Evening Charlie & Lauren 😀 what a lovely boat ur parents have so nice and cosy, l bet its so nice and warm in winter. I was very impressed with the bathroom u could think u were in a hotel, as for ur dads drink store what a good ideal. How many solar panels does he have on his boat? Im getting so in grossed with ur vlogs they are so full of interesting things. And brilliant out takes and there was me thinking how good u were in front of the camera lol😂😂
Haha glad you enjoyed it Simon. Yes super cosy in winter. Agreed, both the bathroom and beer storage are great! They actually don't have any solar panels on their boat. Haha it's all edited, I'm just winging it really but the outtakes do make for some good content! 😅
Really enjoying your vlogs. I came across your channel after somehow stumbling upon Wills Whereabouts site! What would you say was the best knock of the two?...Narrowboating or vanlife? and what would you give as a general marks out of ten for both experiencies?... Which one do you prefer?
Cheer Barry, welcome aboard! I guess it depends on the level of your van/boat haha. We love our van because we can get around anywhere in the UK pretty quickly however the boat gives us more space and is more of a 'home'. Narrowboat life is much more peaceful and enjoyable being on the water that's for sure!
You know what can't believe you are from BERMONDSEY, my family are from Bermondsey near the blue Southwark Park Road move to west midlands about 19 years now bermondsey is not what it used to be in the 80,s anyway NICE TO HEAR THAT YOU ARE FROM THERE X CHARLOTTE
Hope you dont mind me asking but how much was your mum and dads boat? Really love your videos! Me and my boyfriend are considering buying one after uni now. Its inspired us to see other young people like yourself living in an alternative way. Thank you for your content 😀
Aw love this! Thanks guys. Not sure how much they paid for it but they just sold it for £62,000. If you're looking at boat prices then Apollo Duck is the best place to search! x
When are you going to upgrade to the big boy like pop's....must really shit you guys not having a shower on yours.... respect to ya Mrs for putting up without it...many wouldn't....she could be a keeper
No time soon, it would be a waste of money for us to buy a 65ft narrowboat and pay for a mooring we don't use for over half of the year. And not really, we love our small, simple living space. Also 'my Mrs' was the one who decided not to have a shower on the boat, but I agree she's a keeper.
Hiya Charlie, what a lovely boat and thank you im really enjoying your chammel. I wondered how it was staying long term in a Marina, does it get noisy wiith neigbours with all the boats being moored so close together?! Have a great week , love the bloopers!😊
Brilliantly laid out boat. You’re as good at presenting a boat as the Rugby Boat sales guy, new career! Lol
Haha thanks very much Jan! Glad you enjoyed it!

Aw bless him, that's lovely to hear. That'll probably be my dad in a few years time haha always full of stories from his Bermondsey days!
A Telecaster on the wall. Your Dad has class.
Haha he'll like to hear this!
Well
enjoyed this one your mum and dad's boat if fab all mod cons it's mint . Great channel keep up the hard work
Ah glad you enjoyed it! Agreed, there boat has everything you need!
This narrowboat screams creative artist. Every little touch from stem to stern tells of people have always felt save playing to a different drummer. Thanks for the show. But once again you left your better half out of the show.
Ah glad you think so Mark. Haha I needed her behind the camera on this one! 🙌🏼
Love your family history. Watermen and Lightermen are of great historic value to this country. It's no wonder you all love your boats and water. Best wishes to you all. X.
Ah what a lovely comment, thanks very much John and completely agree!
Your parents boat is gorgeous!!! Really spectacular. The kitchen is beautiful. Love the black details. ❤️❤️❤️
Aw thanks so much Bex, they'll be very proud to read this!
What a lovely boat your parents have, some very neat touches !! Class !!
Thank you very much!

That's awesome! They certainly can take time some days! Thanks very much John!

Out of all the narrow boat videos.. you make the best.
Wow, thanks a lot! Glad you like them!

Brilliant, very well presented!
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
I think that this is the nicest narrow boat that I have seen.
Ah this will make them very proud! Thank you!
Very nice. That galley is fantastic
Thank you!
Very, very nice!! Thanks for the tour.
Thanks for watching!

Ah thank so much! You totally should!
Just found this vlog absolutely beautiful 👌🏻

Totally agree! The reverse layouts can be a little harder to find but we really like them! Cheers!
Beautiful boat...wow. really well presented thank you 👍
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it!
its amazing that u can fit so much stuff in a narrowboat!
this is brilliant1 Thank you, I will have a boat soon, the time is right!!

It's lovely and cozy inside.
It really is!
Every thing I need in a boat great volg
Thanks very much Graham!
Lovely boat - we have done many narrowboat holidays but never owned one!
Thanks so much! Ahh maybe one day!
Carbon monoxide alarms need to be installed at knee height or lower due to it being heavier than other gases in the air.
Great boat and great tour really been enjoying binging your content.
Thanks for the info John! Glad you're enjoying the narrowboat vlogs!
Nice boat, really well laid out, thanks for sharing. Which area is it moored?
Thanks a lot! We're in Cambridgeshire!
Lovely welcoming boat !
Many thanks!
The outtakes at the end are killing me ! 🤣
🤣 too good not to include! 🙌🏼
What an awesome boat!
Very cool, that's the goal one day!
lovely boat
Thanks very much!
That was excellent Charlie seeing your folks boat. Did your Dad build it ? My favourite bit of the recap of course had to be of Oscar - he is one seriously cute dog!!
Thanks a lot! Haha we always try to include Oscar if we can. He didn't build it from scratch, but renovated a lot of it yes.
Hello, Really enjoying learning about the narrow boats, do you have a hole cut in your rudder and if so what shape is it? Also does Bermondsey Boy have a hole? Trying to find boats with hearts in the rudders as friends uncle is a boat builder and this was his signature! Thanks.
Thanks Bridget! No there's definitely no holes or hearts in the rudder!
Love the boat!
Thanks Carol!
Hi Charlie,a good view of your parents boat which is lovely but does he miss the old kent road ?
Thanks Derick, haha I'm sure there are parts he misses but don't think he'd give up boat life very easily.
Brilliant boat very professional tour .bet you are a narrowboat salesman 👨💼
Haha if it'll bring in some extra cash I'm open to it!
WOW, ticks all my boxes, what's the head height through out the boat?
Not sure exactly but I think around 6'2"
@@CharliePauly awww to short, thanks.
Fabulous presentation, not sure I’d like fridge under oven. But fab
Thanks very much!
really beautiful!
Thank you!
Is that March? Just wondered cos of the traffic noise near bypass
Yep that's the one!
Wow it look so beautiful
Thanks so much!!
Being a bloke from across the pond ....does the stern canopy have to be taken down continually when going under a bridge or tunnel?
Good question Steve, yes they generally just take it down when cruising to save fiddling around with it on the river.
very cool indeed and great layout :)
Glad you like it!
Much appreciated tour.
Cheers Keith!

Awesome! Thank you so much!
My very best mate is from Rotherhithe, I know Bermondsey well. Cheers
Small world! Love Bermondsey!
How big are portholes before they become round windows very nice boat
Thanks very much, just googled it and it seems if it's a round window on a boat it's always classed as a porthole.
Love this! Must win the lottery to get one! :)
Haha fingers crossed for you!
I know I'm a year late, but... how much does the length of the boat limit travel? From what I've heard, many locks cannot accommodate boats that long.
My parents have never had a problem cruising in it. I think most locks are built for boats this size
Beautiful boat
Thank you very much!
Ever thought about estate agency work (boat equivalent), Charlie? Haha.
Haha if the social media falls through I reckon that's my back up option!
Lovely boat!
Thanks!
We own this boat now and Love every minute..
No way! Glad to hear it!
Beautiful!!
Thank you!
Thank you for the presentation. Would you share the boat's manufacturer?
Thanks very much! It was manufactured by Halls of Ellesmere Port.

Lovely boat, was your Dad ever in any well known bands?
Thanks Steve, no he's just always loved playing the guitar since he was a kid. He busks a lot nowadays and travels everywhere with his guitars.

Ah thank you, I believe he is a Jack-A-Poo.
Amazing
Thanks!

Alohaaa!
Congratulations
Nice! Do your parents live aboard their boat, or do they still retain a property somewhere? 🍷🍷
They float between the boat and the camper van travelling around.
Ok, so I'm an old guy, from the U.S, do you offer a few night tour?
Haha not sure my parents would be keen, but there are plenty of marinas that offer hire boats round the UK!
who wrote there theme song
No idea sorry.
Beautiful boat! Do they happen to live on it or just use it for weekends/trips away?
Thanks Callum, they use it quite often but float between that and their camper van a lot of the year.
I thought 65 ft didn't fit well in many locks?
I don't think they've ever had a problem.

Fabulous boat. Your cheery voice is an asset to bloggers. There's nothing worse than a monotonous voice.
nice boat Charlie... you do a much better job n that geezer at rugby boats
Thanks very much!
This today is for the rich & so far removed from what i enjoyed as a kid in the 60s.
Can't comment on the 60's but it's certainly not for the rich I can assure you.
You did a good job presenting this boat but!! Electricity, not electricieeeee.
I'll take the positive out of this comment and say thank you!
Yeah..PS4 Uncharted
Don't understand this comment, sorry.
Playstation on board
such a posh boat ...lol
Haha I don't think such thing as a posh narrowboat but thanks.
Hiya Charlie, what a lovely boat and thank you im really enjoying your chammel. I wondered how it was staying long term in a Marina, does it get noisy wiith neigbours with all the boats being moored so close together?! Have a great week , love the bloopers!😊
Hey thanks a lot! No noisy at all. The boat community on the whole is pretty respectful and is a slow quiet life so I’ve never had any problems.
