    Just started working on one of these that was donated to our men’s shed. I suspect that I will have to watch this video a few times, thanks for sharing your work.

    Hi Thanks for your vid. I have one of these( Old hoover 3phase motor) sitting in Barn for around 20yrs..Would love to have been using it all this time never been able to find chuck adaptor and its missing the chuck and tail stock. So yuor info was very useful if only to give an idea of the upgrade and potential of my machine. Thanks again

      So update to Lathe restauration. got a whole lot of the original backplates, chuck and rests that found there way into storage at the school I bought it from 20 years ago. Luckily I still have a contact who is bringing me it all next month. My machine has a factory 2hp 3 ph hoover motor which I want to controle via a vfd and remote switch control like yours. I presume you only changed the motor because the original was only 1hp and I guess 1ph motor?

    Hi James, great detailed video. I just picked up one from farm clearance and it's a true basket case. There's dirt in the bottom of the cabinet, it has been laying on its side so the front of the bottom cabinet has surface rust and I'm guessing the spindle bearings will are gone. But like you, I love the old gear and looking to do a similar upgrade that you have done. I have requested to join your Facebook group if you could check my request and I can share my project. Cheers PS I'm chasing a Tailstock, a tool rest + 2 dovetail slides and the back LH thread faceplate if anyone out has them as I'm missing these.

    Hi James. Thanks for doing this vid. I'm looking at picking up an almost identical machine. I'm not confident with all the modifications that you've done and would want a machine that runs and works and needs little maintenance. I went to see the lathe. The seller was great and gave me the full demo. Chuck is included. All ran well. Belt was original however and after watching your review, should that be putting me off?

      Thanks for the comment If it’s in good condition that’s fine. I changed mine as my belt wasn’t in good condition. I’ve ran it in reverse fine as well but only for short burts, these belts are designed for industrial environments for what I do and potter on my shed it’s fine. It’s the easiest belt to fit as well (nut Link A type belting. Roughy £30 a meter)

      @@AnchorDesigns thanks for that. He’s asking just about the same as you paid. I’m just a bit worried buying vintage if it’s going to be tough to get replacement chucks etc. The heavy solid machine is really desirable but wondering if I should just buy modem from a shop with all replacement bits available and a guarantee if it breaks? I know you like vintage but I don’t have your skills in machining parts.

    great video I have a union graduate looking to do the same just wondering if you have any problems with your upgrade in motors and vfd I am in Canada so not really sure if I can get same package as you is the 2 hp motor enough to core 16 inch bowls..thanks

    • @AnchorDesigns
      @AnchorDesigns  2 года назад

      Thanks Ed, 2hp works fine 29 far I can’t say on coring personally. however Declan on the Facebook group has cored I think a 20” bowl blank without any problems. (One way system) works great. I don’t think I need any higher power. Thanks for the comment 👍
