Aye question here. Is the intro animation made by the same artist/ producer/ studio or wtv, that made the "of monsters and men" music videos? Like the one from Little Talks, or Dirty Paws. The style is so similar
I’ve been following Neil Gaiman‘s social media for awhile and I’ve noticed how much time and effort he’s put into making this show. He talked about all of the writing he decided to put off doing so he could focus on it. I remember reading that this series was Terry Pratchett’s deathbed wish. Halfway through this intro... I felt it.
When does sheet music come out for this so I can convince my orchestra director we need to play this theme? This is actually great. The show was outstanding. Seriously, it was great.
I found this intro to be really creepy, with the music that played on the nerves, the bizarre landscapes, and most of all the slow contented march of everyone except Aziraphale and Crowley towards their own demise. I love it.
one could say that aziraphale and crowley are leading the people to either damnation or salvation aka hell or heaven. but notice, that at one point they both stopped leading the march and instead did other things like have a dinner date together? as if, they stopped doing their jobs of fighting for the souls of humanity, and yet, still humanity marched on?
Agreed, I found it so disturbing at first that I couldn't watch. The fact that as the human population grows, so do the number of dead people following Crowley and Aziraphale, the references to catastrophic events like 9/11 and the TItanic. The titanic victims following them along the ocean floor. The creepy music. Genius, but terrifying.
Humans are lemmings. Unless we have our hands be held by higher beings, we clearly are content to eventually walk to our own demise in pursuit of fleeting pleasures, "infinite growth" and the likes.
I love how fitting this intro is; chaotic, black, white, British-style music with a historic art style. It's honestly up there with the best intros to any form of media I've seen.
@@ThreadBomb @Jacob Gustafsson "Our opening titles invoke Terry Gilliam, Hieronymus Bosch, and Edward Gorey. Overall, its style is no style. We do whatever we have to do to make it work. We felt like we were allowed to do it."

I read Neil's blog, Twitter and. Instagram, he has valid reasons. Books simply cannot be translated 100% faithfully to visual media, and dated outlooks need to be refreshed. Neil's got this.
Haven’t gotten further than the first episode but I feel like the phone line chase might be updated (and easier to visualize) as a chase through the internet or something.
This is gonna be awesome. This whole book was created as an attempt by two wonderful authors to make each other laugh. And considering Mr. Gaimen is a big part of this production I'll be damned if this won't be considered a classic
Unfortunately it looks like he's just doing voice work for a CG Satan; I'd have preferred to see him do it in person. It would fit quite nicely with Neil Gaiman's original description of Lucifer in the Sandman comic series as looking as much like David Bowie as possible; that is to say that he's retained the androgynous beauty of an angel who has fallen into darkness. With his unconventional but striking looks I could easily see BC pulling that sort of aesthetic off.
Right? Majority of TV shows are being totally lazy nowadays with opening title sequences. Merely putting a screen with the name of the TV show. Nah this is why I like premium TV show opening title credit sequences. They put effort to make it appropriately match the show's tone.
I think this is super bland, without any soul at all. The music is just background sound, with no influence on the visuals whatsoever. The intro should show us the mood of the show, this just looks like a animated powerpoint slideshow.
