thank you, great explanation.. i have questions : 1. could we get or sign up the power BI account using personal email ? i've been try but microsoft request the work email address. 2. can i updated/refresh power BI data form excel file that stored in personal computer thank you
1. you need a work email. If you don't have one you can sign up for a Microsoft 365 trial which comes with an email address you can use for the sole purpose of creating your account. You can let the trial expire and you will still have your Power BI account. 2. Yes, but you need to install the personal gateway. I cover this in my Power BI course: www.myonlinetraininghub.com/power-bi-course
Hi Mynda, although this video was upload few years back now I have the chance to finally use it. Thank you for the step by step explanation which are very helpful for me. Great session!

I have a question. When you create a bubble chart or bubble map, you can hover over the bubble and tool tips show the value. How can I show the associated value for each bubble? Even though the bubble size is an indication of the relative value having it displayed would help a lot.
Yes, the bubble chart displays a tooltip with the value. You can even have it show related values e.g. if the bubble represents sales amount and GP, you can add further information to the tooltip like units sold etc.
The color saturation conditional formatting is now done via the value field drop down: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-conditional-table-formatting
Hello Mynda . First of all thank you for making such a informative video on visualization in Power bi .The way you explained is very impressive and easy to understand.looking forward for more informative tutorial videos of yours.
Hi Mynda, thank you for this tutorial. When I do the first visual which is the KPI I get the value 3,183,870 instead of the 2,420,554 that you get. I have done it three times now and I still get the same value. Can you please let me know if there's something I'm missing.Thank you.
I suspect you have uploaded all of the data, whereas I keep one month back and load it at the end of the video to illustrate how you can update the reports.
Thanks Mynda. You have provided a great overview of Power BI's functionality in a very comprehensive manner. I will definitely recommend this as a good starting point for people to collaborate effectively on data visualization through this amazing tool.
Fantastic course and presentation. I had few difficulties with the postal codes for NT which are 800 and 825 I think. I am delighted with the contents and the depth covered in this tutorial. Thank you so much for the video i just have one question, when i made my Sales/Goss profit by FY Qtr my graphic is sorted by sales (decreasing) and not by FYQtr it starts xith 2017 Q1 and i have 2016 Q3 and 4 in the midlle? can you help me Please ?
Excellent tutorials, most of the Power BI tutorial I have seen are not as detailed as your own video, especially the Data you have used and tranforming the data and going over relationship to remove default summarisation of some data: for anyone who is used to Database, Excel this part is easy to follow and understand I always get stuck building the charts. I would have love to see the steps for creating the charts as a word documents with details like this Chart 1 Select KPI from Visualisation Select "Sales" fields from "Sales" table Add trends: By dragging and dropping "Date" fields from "Date" table Format and change display unit to Millions Because following the video is like pause and play which cause distraction. Other than that excellect tutorial and I think having rough sketch of the charts needed would make building the chart easy flow
Glad you enjoyed my video 🙏if you'd like to learn more about the charts, please consider my Power BI course: www.myonlinetraininghub.com/power-bi-course
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub Thanks, I checked the course, I would actually prefer to do a personalised 1 to 1 course using my own data models skills. I find it hard to build Dashboards with someone else's Data Model style, as it mean I have somewhat agree with the way the data model has been developed. Do you provide such course.
I don't do 1:1 because it's typically cost prohibitive, but I do provide support so that when it comes time to implementing the techniques with your own data, you can ask for help if you get stuck etc.
what a great explanation, I am new to Power Bi but you make it so easy and I believe with couple of hands-on I can start working as power Bi professional :)
@29:12 I was trying to create the regions table as you direct but I do not get any points at all after going through all the steps. It simply shows a world map no point in Austraila.
It's difficult to troubleshoot where things went wrong, but I suspect the country field wasn't added, or you haven't set the data categories for the place. Or maybe you haven't added the value field.
@19:23-19:40 try State, Country and categorize it as either State or Province or Country, the map is not working correctly. It still shows data in North America. If categorize the field as 'Place', the map is not showing the tip when hover the mouse over. Please help
Hi Kim, yes, you now need to categorise it as place as they made some changes to Power BI since this was recorded. Not sure why the tool tip isn't working though.
Enjoyed watching the tutorial thanks a lot...My company provides BI Analytics using mainly Tableau...was exploring options to provide a much simpler and less expensive Analytics for SMEs...This seems to be the answer
18:44 Hi Mrs, I couldn't go through my Query to edit those data again. It didn't show up after I clicked it, but the canvas (dashboard) and data-connection is oke. What are the problems here?
Hi Alvin, I'm not sure what you mean exactly. Please post your question and sample Power BI file on our forum where we can help you further: www.myonlinetraininghub.com/excel-forum
In the Nov 2019 Power BI release, the Color Saturation field was removed from Fields list. You now need to go under Format / Data Color / Conditional Formatting to change colors. Color saturation option doesn't appears for two measures. It just appears for only one measure. Please let me know if it does.
Awesome tutorial, Thank you so much for this! I have a problem with PostCode, Suburb, Country = 800, Darwin, Australia. It shows me location in South America. Data category for this column is Place, Postal Code doesn't work unfortunately. Can someone help me, please.
Thank you for these amazing videos on visualisations ... It helped me a lot to get more creative on dashboards. I learnt new topics and these videos helped me improve my skills... Highly recommend these videos !!!
Excellent video and very easy to follow. Including the material you used is especially beneficial for anyone wanting to follow along. Will definitely check out your Power BI course!
You can print to PDF and PowerPoint, but the visuals themselves cannot be exported to Excel. However, you can export the data model and then work with it in Excel using Excel charts etc.
Hi Mynda, when you were concatenating State with country in Data section to rectify the map visualisation , is the same as using tranform data option? I am confused whether transforming data in power query is same as editing/creating measures in Data section below the report section in Power BI
Hi Nayan, You can concatenate the columns in Power Query or in the Power Pivot modelling side of Power BI. However, transforming data in Power Query is not the same as editing/creating measures simply because you can't create measures in Power Query. Think of Power Query as the data preparation phase and Power Pivot as the modelling and measures phase.
Great video, thank you so much, I have a question though. What can I do for the color saturation in "sales by state and manager" bar chart for the GP(%)? In newer versions, color saturation is not available in that format...conditional formatting that someone proposes confuses me a bit. Can you help? thank you
Glad you enjoyed the video. Conditional formatting has changed a bit since this video was recorded. You can see up to date instructions here: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/service-tips-and-tricks-for-color-formatting#conditional-formatting-for-visualizations

You will get lots of praise for this fantastic work. Good on you. Please keep it up and look forward for more turorials.
It's wonderful to hear you found the video helpful. Have fun with Power BI :-)
You need to set the 'sort by' for the quarter field in the modelling.
Excellent tutorials, most of the Power BI tutorial I have seen are not as detailed as your own video, especially the Data you have used and tranforming the data and going over relationship to remove default summarisation of some data: for anyone who is used to Database, Excel this part is easy to follow and understand
I always get stuck building the charts. I would have love to see the steps for creating the charts as a word documents with details like this
Chart 1
Select KPI from Visualisation
Select "Sales" fields from "Sales" table
Add trends: By dragging and dropping "Date" fields from "Date" table
Format and change display unit to Millions
Because following the video is like pause and play which cause distraction.
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub Great, I will provide some Data model and questions soon. Thanks
One of the best BI tutorials I've seen👌
Thanks! Have fun with Power BI 😊 and please share the video with your co-workers.
what a great explanation, I am new to Power Bi but you make it so easy and I believe with couple of hands-on I can start working as power Bi professional :)
Thank you so much for your training. It is so clear and accessible, It has helped me so much, I don't know where I'd be without it!
Wow, that's wonderful to hear, Fran!
Awesome explaination, now I can create basic dashboards and look cool with it...
Great to hear! Have fun with Power BI 😉
Hi, You seem to have the Sigma sign visible in Model view @9:34 where as I do not. Can you advise how I can switch this on.
Hi Dulles, this is an old interface. It doesn't show the sigma sign in the diagram view anymore.
I love your videos. It's like you know exactly what is needed. ON POINT!!!! 100 Points!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
Thanks so much 😊
Most of the time I watch, learn and go quietly but on this one I had to like subscribe this video has made my day so easy #excited
So pleased to hear that, Eddington!
Love the way you present. It's amazing, comprehensive and informative instructions. Thanks a lot!
So nice of you, Anatalia! Please share the video with your co-workers too.
Thanks, Arun :-) Great to hear you're going to give Power BI a go.
I want to say a lot of things to you... it's perfect, it's amazing... Thank you! God bless you!
Wow, thank you!
You really did a great work, after washing this video,i completely changed my vision towards Power BI.
Thank you so much.
That's great to hear, Karim. Power BI has come a long way in a very short time and every month there are updates.
42:21- Pinning report to dashboard in the online app
Wonderful to hear!
Thank you for this! Really appreciate the fast pace and straight to the point explanations & demonstrations.
Great to hear, Mariah!
Excellent video and very easy to follow. Including the material you used is especially beneficial for anyone wanting to follow along. Will definitely check out your Power BI course!
Great dashboard, but can it be transported to Excel by any chance? otherwise, it is of no use to the senior management due to unfamiliarity.
You can print to PDF and PowerPoint, but the visuals themselves cannot be exported to Excel. However, you can export the data model and then work with it in Excel using Excel charts etc.
MyOnlineTrainingHub - thanks
Thank you. I've seen a few videos over the last week or so and this one really gets to the point fast.
Wow, thanks UkeleleLou. Great to know :-)
Hi Mynda, when you were concatenating State with country in Data section to rectify the map visualisation , is the same as using tranform data option? I am confused whether transforming data in power query is same as editing/creating measures in Data section below the report section in Power BI
Hi Nayan, You can concatenate the columns in Power Query or in the Power Pivot modelling side of Power BI. However, transforming data in Power Query is not the same as editing/creating measures simply because you can't create measures in Power Query. Think of Power Query as the data preparation phase and Power Pivot as the modelling and measures phase.
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub Great, got it thank for you very much
Thank you for the Information 🤝👌
Welcome 👍
This should be taught in school
Great idea!
This is the best training video I’ve seen so far. Very impressed. Thankyou
Thanks, Ali! :-)
Wonderful Video Thumbs Up. Instant Learning and Start Up
Glad it was helpful!
