Wow, that excerpt from your book was... powerful. I kinda wish my mother understood English so I could show her. I'm really sorry that it still hurts, she is living proof that it gets better over time. It was also a really interesting experiment in empathy, whenever I think about my addiction struggles, I was think of myself first, how I did bad things, how embarrassed I was and I feel sorry for the ones I hurt, but I didn't get to that point of understanding, until now. Só I cried along with you.
Anyway, it's kinda beautiful how life gives us the chance of becoming better versions of ourselves, for us and for the ones we love. Rest assured that your bold, brave decision, the one which you did not want to make, was the best choice, not only for you and your child, but also for him. Maybe he needed a little bit of a reality shake, to miss the boredom and try to get better, like it was for me.
This is my favorite book, and there are some big heavy hitters for me (especially Thanks To The Locals) and my favorite is Never To Heaven, because that ending really gets me going every single day.
Maybe you should do What Happened When I Left You next. Seems cohesive to me.
I'm sending you and your family lots of love. It's really awesome how you overcame all of this and turned to also help others.

I actually see this potentially being about her mother, not a lover. Even though she says 'fall into bed with you' at the end, I interpret that as meaning falling into bed with other abusers because it's learned behaviour from being abused, gaslit and consistently put down as a child. Essentially saying that the more she steps into her poetry and artistry, the more she will be able to break that pattern and cycle. To me, this is like a final letter to a narcissistic mother before going no contact. Just my interpretation, but I think it's possible.

This poem might actually be about her mother. I saw a video (unfortunately cant find it) but it was really good explained. Especially bc of the start bc her mom is a narcissist. But also bc of the line "u told me I didn't know who I was" and in the Ride monologue she said " my mother always said I had a chameleon soul"
and the whole bedroom stuff is giving childhood and we know that lana had a difficult childhood (wildflower wildfire)

Mere, you're so incredibly strong and I am so proud of you. I’m truly sorry you had to go through what you went through, and I hope you know that you aren’t alone in your pain. It’s not easy going through it all, having to do something you know you have to do but not want to since it’s sort of a last resort. But it had to be done.
I am so incredibly proud of your courage, your strength and your willpower and emotional maturity. Just that small portion of your book was extremely raw and inspiring that it brought me to tears. And I can only imagine how it felt to you. It’s not easy at all reading it after having went through it all, and while you read it, you are reminded of the memories behind it all. And I’m just in awe. SO proud of you, I love you, and I wish you only the best. Sending so much love to you, Mere. ♥

My father is an alcohol addict and hits so hard to me when I see your videos. I feel close and can relate so many things Lana and you talk about. This year I felt so depressed, I had a tough time, but your videos really helped me (I do therapy as well). When your writing it's just you and your thoughts, you don't think about anything else. I think writing is a powerful activity where we can really know what are we thinking and what are we feeling. Hi Mere, I know we’re strangers, but I felt so much empathy towards you as you shared a part of your book, that I felt the immense urge to comment on this video to thank you for your vulnerability. I can see it wasn’t easy for you. Hopefully, despite it being emotionally painful, you felt some catharsis afterwards or throughout it. I started watching your videos reacting to lyrics of popular songs by Taylor or Lana, but I stayed for your loving personality, charisma, and intelligence in all of the ways one can be. I can tell how much of a wonderful mother you are just by the careful way you chose to describe that heartfelt moment you shared with your son, and how thinking about him as you read made you smile from ear to ear, despite the tears you were shedding. You are doing all that you can now, and that is enough as it always will be. I know you know all of this, since you’re such an amazing therapist, but if anything, hopefully you’ll know that you are admired and cared for. By all of those around you, and, of course, random strangers, like me, on the internet!
To wrap it up, thank you for sharing such an honest and human moment of remembrance with us. Sending you lots and lots of love and hoping for steady healing, whatever that means. ❤️

I love Lana! 🤗 By the way, if you ever set up a P.O Box for us, maybe I'll send you one of my poetry books to enjoy and possibly analyze. And considering how much of a headache it gave me to relive my life experiences so I could put them into verse, I will also include some Advil or Aleve for you. Just in case reading it also has the same effect. 😊

your book is so amazing and it just hits so hsrd so i would like to share my story and recomend a song. when i was younger in the fourth grade i was severly depressed and thought i wasnt good enough for my mother at the end of fourth grade i tried to commit suicide. i kept it to myself and didnt open up to anyone. when i finally did i told one of my friends i thought i could trust. about a week later i realized she reported me to the school saying i was crazy. i went to the social worker for about three weeks everyday and was scared that they were going to send me away. the social worker wanted me to go to therapy with her but i never did becuase she didnt help me at all she tried sending me to the mental hospital as well when i was only eight. i was sent to many therapists to try and make me better but it never really worked. i looked back on some of the reasons i tried committing which were family issues, getting harrased by an older boy at a young age, and oyher things. I have grown now and found my comfort through many things. Lana’s music was definitely one of them becuase i sort of related to her especially her issues with her mother. I also recently found your channel which has also really helped and i appreciate you making these videos ❤. a song i would really like you to do is how to dissapear by lana or Arcadia by lana thank you for everything and also you can share my story on your channel if you would like too 💗

Thank you for sharing this deeply personal account of your childhood struggles. I’m so happy you are alive and I’m so sorry for what you had to endure at such a young age. Lana is a healer and I’m so happy you/we have her music, it helps to cope with it all. I love you very much and thank you for watching my videos. I’ll def do your video request! ❤️
