I saw the fruit cake clip on daytime television as a small child. Having immediately switched it off as they were about to cut into Santa I never knew what it was from or if it was even real. You've helped resolve some serious childhood trauma today. Thank you.

I was going to comment something similar! I remember seeing something on TV as a kid where it looked like Santa was turned into a fruitcake or whatever, but I never knew what it was. I don’t think I ever bothered searching for it because I assumed it was either a dream or something so weird and obscure.

Of COURSE a Christmas movie is a cheap cash grab. That's the entire reason Hallmark exists as a cable channel. Wait. TWO cable channels. It's as Boris Badenov said, "The Jingle Bell racket is worth millions." And I would LOVE for you to cover the most cynically terrible cash grab Christmas telefilm of all time, the live action remake of "A Year without a Santa Claus." That makes this movie look competent by comparison, and at least this movie doesn't waste huge talents like John Goodman.

    Some ideas for Future Videos
*Bob Patterson/Listen Up!/The Micheal Richard Show: People know about the Seinfeld Curse but very rarely talk about the shows. Jason Alexander plays a self help guru in Bob Patterson, and a Sports Telecaster in Listen Up ! While Micheal Richards plays basically Kramer as a private eye. I didn't mention Julia's shows cause they were more successful.
*Quark/The Nutt House/When Things Were Rotten: Mel Brooks sitcoms that aren't as well known.
This one could probably be an 1 hour long, all those times they made animanated version of classic sitcoms. Jeannie, My Favorite Martians, The Brady Kids. Return to Gilligan's Island, and Gilligan's Planet. Laverne and Shirley, The Partridge Family 22. AD, etc.
Over the Top: A sitcom with Tim Curry, what could go wrong?
    Surprised this one wasn't mentioned.
It's About Time: Two astronauts finding themselves traveling through time and talking with prehistoric people. Then the show completely filled it's head and became about the cavepeople adjusting to the 21st century.

So here it is, June of 2022. The newest version of the Munsters is being done by Rob Zombie, and Butch Patrick is involved. How good it is, remains to be seen. Rob Zombie is a fan of the original show, and it looks like he has created a faithful recreation of the Munster Residence. A couple of things about this film. It was filmed in Australia, and the Munster's house here is an historic residence called Heathcote Hall, built in 1887. My guess is they didn't want to spend the money to bring the Munster Koach to the land down under, and so a T-Bucket street rod, is dressed up to look like the Koach, and that is why you never get a good look at in this film.

Sure, the monster aesthetic wouldn’t be a great fit immediately, but they’re so wholesome, it could work as a really great call back to old fashioned Christmas specials while acknowledging the current cynicism of today. Might not be great, but I’m convinced it could work.

To be fairly honest with you, Joe. Edward Herrmann finally got great success when he joined an all-star cast on the Emmy winning seven-year run of "Gilmore Girls", created by Amy Palladino and executive produced by her husband, Daniel Palladino and their collaborator, co-executive producer David S. Rosenthal of the Ellen fame on the CW Network. A co-production of the Palladino Company, Boardwalk Entertainment in association with Pariah and distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution/HBO Enterprises, a Time Warner company. Now shown both on syndication and cable. Apparently the Munster's home was filmed in NSW, Australia, which would explain why Mark Mitchell and Bruce Spence were in this film.

I did find a copy of here comes the Munsters On DVD It only cost me $10 including shipping! But it came all the way from Austria! It's definitely not bad! And as people are outraged by the new trailer for Rob zombie's new Munsters! Maybe they should go back and watch The Munsters wear back!!! To see how bad it can get !!!

It's not a forgotten failure. It's an third made for TV movie in the Munsters franchise for NBC Studios - formerly MCA Television.

Heh now all that's left to cover are The Mini Munsters cartoon and Mockingbird Lane, both failed attempts in making a new series off of the Munsters

Hi, Joe! Never knew this piece of non-entertainment existed. That ugly respirator fruitcake was the most bizarre movie prop I've seen since the flappy, shape-shifting scalp treasure map in "Cutthroat Island". Thank you for sitting through all this ill-conceived garbage so I don't have to.

George Lopez did a better Herman Munster on the "George Lopez" show halloween episode. They also did a great version of "The Jetsons" as well.

From my understanding, Rob Zombie is going to make the next Munsters reboot. Considering his track record, I doubt seriously it'll be a faithful adaptation, but possibly more of a reimagining. I could be wrong, but this is just a hunch of what I think will happen under Rob Zombie's direction for the next Munsters reboot.

I saw this one on TV as a kid. Literally the only thing I could remember was that scene where Herman became a model and everyone freaked out when he opened his robe. I had absolutely no idea that it was a Christmas movie featuring Santa Claus! What a bizarre choice. I guess it didn't make sense in my brain, so I didn't associate that scene as being part of a Christmas movie! All I knew was that I was remembering a Munsters movie, but not which one. I hope I at least got to see the previous and better film, even if I don't remember it.
Edit: OK, I think I would remember Santa turning into a fruit cake and being nearly drowned in a bowl of eggnog. Maybe my parents changed the channel after the other scene I mentioned, I don't know. What in the hell is this movie?

Edward Hermann can take some of the blame for why the original cast didn't return: he wanted a raise, so the producers were going to reduce the other cast members' salaries to pay him, and as a result, they all walked away.

    • @StrawberryShorty
      @StrawberryShorty 10 месяцев назад

I'm not sure that's a fair statement. He just asked for more money, not for the producers to take said money from the other actors. And his absence here would imply he walked with the others upon learning what the producers did.
