I never use aluminum As Arms, when you crash you need parts that will flex and A Arms are one of those parts. A Arms are cheap and easy to replace using aluminum ones means something else is going to break, probably a more expensive and hard to replace part
i could not agree more
Sometimes it’s less about overall performance and more about that bling factor.
all useful stuff like long damper, anti roll bar, slipper clutch, nn4 you dont touch but just tons of fancy alternative
For me the XV-01 is the most interesting car Tamiya make. Nice vid Gav.
Hello!! I have got the carbon damper stays you pictured as they are long damper stays allowing you to fit mini dampers rather than the kit super mini dampers, like the Tamiya Long Damper Spec kit for more wheel travel up and down in conjunction with the TRF501X front spring pack, hard front / soft rear with two hole pistons front and three hole in the rear. Works a treat!!
Great review thanks, I build a XV-01 last year and feel the suspension brackets should have been metal from Tamiya as standard, first low speed collision and it released the wishbone at the base so was off straight away to buy the upgrades.
Oh yea looks good.
I made quite a few custom XV-01 upgrades for our Blue Groove Modelsports racing rally XV-01.
Am I hearing Gavin correctly? Does he say “Yee” Racing? Is that how it’s pronounced? It’s gotta be “Yeah”, right?
Yeah Racing is the correct way of saying it but I'm lazy so its just become Yee Racing
@@RCKickschannel This is my favorite response
My favorite car to drive outside in the mud and on tarmac. Only upgrade i have not isntalled yet is the yeah racing fan mount and brace. My Carpet Rallye endeavor was short but with it, although it was fun this car is not meant for really high grip. The others were racing modified Xray T3 and T4 but i won 1 race ;)
Love my XV-01. A number of these parts are welcome!
Those parts looked great on the car and very well designed. Since you are beginning to get into racing. It might make a good video to visit a local rally club event. Thanks for sharing.
It's an YR add so he's got to use the parts
You lost me with that one my friend LOL
@@RCKickschannel look up sheffield and off road rally club
Love the xv01 my best tamiya kit
The YR parts look good but I’ve found they bend easy with use and the odd bump.
Great to see the XV-01 getting some attention on YT, currently rebuilding mine with all new bearings and some new parts, mine has nearly every hop up, either Tamiya or YR going :* Only parts I don't have is metal diff internals and the aluminium diff plates. It has aluminium suspension balls, alu turnbuckles, super lightweight. I just bought parts for it but I'm contemplating selling it? :S
If you are selling it, put it back to stock and sell the upgrades separately. It will help cover the money you spent way more. Granted it would be a load of work mind.
Nice box of tricks there Gavin!
All that bling looks gorgeous.
Wondering how much weight it has added to the car?
Do you plan to do a comparison against the XV02?
I'm still torn between which one of the two platforms to buy!!!
😊 👍 👍 👍 👍
Yep I will do. 👍🏻👍🏻 I do t think you can go wrong with an XV-01 or 02 really.
I own both, and the 02 is a bit more brittle than the sturdier 01. Besides, the parts that usually break on the 02 are not officially available as spares from Tamiya (steering bridge, most importantly).
The 02 feels very "layered" to drive, with the center differential. Like a complex vehicle that requires an advanced user to set up and get the most of. It's great but it's response is milder and not as immediate as, say my favorite rally chassis, LC Racing PTG2R.
Comparing both, at the moment I'd probably jump on the 01, and learn and grow with it.
01is not perfect. A set of CVDs for the front (at least) are essential to get the most of. Especially after you make the free mod of reducing/trimming some bits of the hubs to allow for higher steering angles and suspension stroke.
I would not recommend you to get the longer damper uprights for the XV01, as that will only add compression stroke, but what you really benefit on a rally course from is from extension.
Get a longer stroke set of dampers 65mm-70mm with soft springs, build them with a droop setup, on the stock uprights and you're good!
Hey Gavin, Great video mate! I’ve noticed a bit of dust and dirt on the XV01! Have you been giving it a run? Best rally chassis! Good fun!
Xv01 Vs xv02 video coming up?
Yep it’s been run a few times.
Xv01 El mejor sin duda!!! No tiene nada que envidiar al sobrevalorado xray tux ni al xv02...pero eso sí hay que pulir manguetas y sub manguetas para sacarle más dirección...que se le puede sacar más que suficiente🙂💪
Yee racing... Is this a spin of brand... Yeah racing? I remeber NO 🤔😂😜
And your last RC video was?
i
If you have subtitles turned on, the video starts with "Hi Mark Tossy cakes" instead of "Hi and welcome to RCKicks" 🤣
Heheh sounds spot on lol
I have ya iRacing on all my ECX torment I think that was my first upgrade I got and yeah it is good it's more like a Chinese Korean Japanese brand don't know if it went the right way out now I'm getting into the real stuff like blockhead
Bling bling? Looks like some.good. choices for strength. But dose it run better? Need that answered gav.
Motor will run cooler, more adjustability in the shock positions and a little extra strength in some areas. As for performance improvements, I don’t think these will change the characteristics of the chassis much. That said I really like the upgrades and bling lol
Sometimes the Yeah Racing CVD/UJ's can be a bit hit and miss, but the rest of their stuff is usually pretty good. Also, isn't it 'YEAH' Racing and not 'YEE' Racing?😉🤣🤣
Yee it is
These are a kit I’d like to try
You can get some good deals on the XV-01 and we’ll worth a look.
You're wrong about carbon parts vs aluminium parts. I think you misuderstood between being tough and being hard.. Each has different application in RC parts.
Tell that to all my broken carbon towers on my TT02B, Cougar last week and countless other buggies lol.
@@RCKickschannel How do you drive bruh?
@@vijayapragas I drive like I need Alloy uprights lol
Gavs love your work, but. This is not your fault but what a dogs dinner. XV comes with no blue metal at all and this set comes with blue and black mixture. Plus blue should onle go on a true TRF and nothing else. It's like putting a Turbo sticker on a escorts 1.1L, very uncool
yeee racing ..lol
I like that it had a mix of blue and black. All blue can look a little too much sometimes. Blue TRF shocks would be nice addition.
Reckon if you ask John Wick if he likes the car he would say " yeah " 🤣🤣🤣
A month ago you said the xv02 was best tamiya rally car ever now the xvo1 is the best ... so which is it ?
That depends
